Gunfire Games did what they could to bring Remnant From the Ashes to the Nintendo Switch. The downgrade is real with clear visual concessions, much longer loading times and a game that is less enjoyable on the go due to the inaccuracy and lack of ergonomics of the Joy-Con.

Even after the last few years and the transfer to a handheld platform, it remains an excellent time, and getting hooked on it is dangerously easy.

Story is not great, but the action makes up for it.

This is a game with an interesting system that mixes third-person shooters with a Soulslike experience. Its procedural and weapon generation system makes it a very replayable and fun game. Graphically, the game on Switch looks good but it has long screen load times.

Remnant: From the Ashes on Switch is a good port, and although the visuals and load times can be an issue, I still loved playing it again.

Overall, Remnant: From The Ashes is a perfect entry point for those who are wanting to take their first steps in dabbling in the soulslike genre. Gunfire Games took me by surprise with this one. I was skeptical going in and doubted the third-person shooter mechanics would blend so seamlessly with the genre. Remnant 2 is due to be released later this year, and frankly, I can’t wait.

Remnant: From the Ashes is still an excellent game. Gunfire Game’s port to the Nintendo Switch has made an exceptionally great game accessible to a whole new group of gamers. Tight, responsive controls and consistently smooth gameplay performance make up for some downgraded visuals. This leaves you with a solid offering for the Nintendo Switch. If you’re in the market for a Souls-like with a unique story, a bit more forgiving gameplay and also like to game on the go then I can highly recommend picking up Remnant: From the Ashes on the Nintendo Store.

All in all, it feels difficult to recommend Remnant: From the Ashes as a Nintendo Switch title. If you like soulslikes, guns, trees, and grey things: maybe play this on any other console. Chances are, it’s a pretty good game there. But here, it’s not a great experience.

Remnant From the Ashes is a good game, but it is clear that the Switch version is not the best and not preferable if you have other platforms. On the technical side, every element has taken a visible hit, but the frame rate is stable enough that you can play without too much worry. It is probably not the best game for outside play, but it also depends on your taste. However, if you only have a Switch and have always been intrigued by this adventure, we recommend it.

Remnant: From The Ashes is a unique take on the Souls-like genre, blending 3rd-person shooting gameplay with the challenging combat of a Dark Souls game. It surprisingly works and offers something new to the endless Souls-like games that are out there. The issue with Remnant: From The Ashes is that if you don’t like Souls-like games, this isn’t the game to change your mind. Plus, the Switch port is rough to look at and harder to play due to technical issues. If you absolutely want a unique Souls-like experience and only own a Switch, Remnant: From The Ashes could be worth checking out.

Overall, the problems stem from the Switch itself, as its lack of ergonomics, fine controls, and aged hardware that made the KOTOR port run poorly as well. The system not only struggled with the combat, but it also struggled to fully load environments, resulting in a lot of pop-in or certain assets not appearing at all. Overall, it's hard to recommend Remnant: From the Ashes for the Nintendo Switch, especially if players have access to other consoles or a PC.

Even though the Switch version is the less attractive of the bunch, Remnant from the Ashes remains a solid effort from Gunfire Games and an original spin on the Souls formula. We're curious to see what the studio will come come up with the second chapter.

Remnant: From the Ashes lands on the Nintendo Switch to defend its reputation and fans of soulslike games have plenty to enjoy here, amid Remnant's varied and original areas to explore, weapon customization, and boss fights. Its performance raises some issues, however, as the technical limits of the Nintendo Switch end up constricting Remnant's full potential, but as far as the gameplay experience goes, this is one of the best soulslike games on Nintendo's console.

Remnant: From The Ashes is a brilliant co-op shooter that takes elements of Dark Souls and combines them with other elements to create something fresh. It will occupy you for dozens of hours and frustrate you beyond belief, but it sure is worth it.

Remnant: From the Ashes on Switch is downgraded compared to other platforms, but is a much better port than I expected with DLC included. It feels like a good blend of The Division with souls-like elements, and the online has worked very well in the times I’ve tried it on Nintendo Switch. This is definitely one of the better third-party late ports to Nintendo’s hybrid system, and it even has a physical release, which is great to see.

Muy pero muy recomendable si te gustan los shooters puros y duros a traves de gran variedad de niveles y escenarios. Full Review »

Basic game that makes you repeat and grind the same linear level over and over again.
When you die you just have to start over the same boring level.
Game has some aspects well made and some details well thought.
Overall the game is very flat and boring.
Nothing interesting at all and the quality of the game is low. SOme kind of blend between Low polly and realistic, just worse than Fortnite and fortnite looks really bad.
