    I have this game on PC but quickly picked it up on Switch for the obvious reasons. I'll quickly go over what Rebel galaxy is and then explain the port problems/issues at the bottom for those interested. The theme of this game is ripped right from the show Firefly. Down to the guitar "twang" and the countless radio stations. There is a story and a decent one at that but I won't go too far into it. Just know it's there.

    Rebel galaxy outlaw is Elite Dangerous lite. A "baby's first space sim". Trade, bounty hunt, mine, pirate, etc! Upgrade your ship and visit over a few dozen systems each with star ports and planets to visit. Now before you jump for joy thinkin this here is a No Man's Sky type game I'm sorry but no. None of the planets are fully explorable and only offer areas to "dock". You can explore the system and find small space anomalies (super small nebula), Astroid belts and the like. It's fun and puts pings on the map but no one's buying your cartography data. So exploration isn't a job here. Which makes sense seeing is how there's so few systems compaired to the likes of E.D and NMS.

    Once docked you get missions, trade, get info from barkeeps, talk to your guild (traders and mercs specifically) to hand you special missions, buy new ships and upgrade them, and best of all play the bar minigames. Poker dice, 8 ball, slots, etc. They are a fun distraction.

    As for the setbacks of the game that's not related to the switch theres only *checks notes* 12 ships. All of them have specialties yes but nothing compaired to the amount of Elite Dangerous or Eve. The other obvious one is planetary exploration which we've covered and lastly no large ships. I like me some star destroyers or battleships but the biggest we get are medium sizes. They are classified as "large" in the game but in elite they'd be no bigger than a Type 6 transporter. Which can be big but Python or Anaconda big? Not even close. Now there is hope as the devs (last I checked) are still interested in extra content and actual DLC. So maybe we might get the goods?

    Now for my fellow PC brethren what was sacrificed to make it run on switch? Just a few minor sacrificing and a big big one.

    For the big one it's the customization. Paint job is gone.  Yep you can't even slap a sticker on it. The cockpit dodads and postcards are still available but outside the ship what you see is what you get. As for the minor ones it runs a smooth but unfortunate 30 FPS. And there are obvious popins from major stations. Only from fast traveling though as just superspeeding pops em in normally but the pop in is for a few seconds in after you load in so it won't kill ya or sneak a planet on your ass before you noticed.

    Bottom line is it works almost flawlessly. I had 8 mercs on my ass for a test and it still ran fine albeit chaoticly and it seemed the resolution dipped to compensate. For the people new to this game if you love space sims or are familiar with Elite Dangerous then buy this as you won't regret it. As for my PC people it's a damn good port but no xsaves are available and with the massive feature of the paint job gone I can see you hesitating. If you don't mind it and still want this game portably than you will not be sorry.    … Expand

    This privateer-lite type experience is the premier space trade/fight/mine/etc sim on the Switch. If you seek pew pew and space truckin' on the switch and/or fondly remember privateer, this is your game.

    If you don't already know rebel galaxy on the PC, the franchise is at the casual end of the space trade/fight genre, where Elite and X are the more hardcore examples.     Pros:
    - great game-play
    - decent graphics, including in hand-held mode
    - great sound effects and music
    - has QoL features that are helpful for space combat with Switch controls
    - accessible for people new to the genre
    - enough dynamic economy and space to do space truckin'
    - has a decent pool game you can play when in space bars :)

    Cons

    - not many ships compared to eg Elite or X
    - as above for weapons and other customisations

    Overall, a very solid space game for the switch. It is a bit small and light for PC games, but it is a good fit for a hand-held console.

    Fun, great music, immersive free roam gameplay, explosions, flaming jet boosters, pretty space things, interesting story, decent smooth graphics. Really enjoy this game.

    A very nicely done port of a very nice space sim. IF you love the genre, and perhaps love Firefly too, it's a must have.

    Despite its complexity its systems are laid out clearly. Its controls, while deep, are easy to manage. This is a sprawling space-sim RPG that builds excellently on the path tread by its predecessors. The Switch version, while not without some hiccups, is highly impressive. While yes the sharp uptick in difficulty found in the primary questline is a bit jarring, so long as you’re willing to put in the time it can be overcome.

    Rebel Galaxy Outlaw is a wonderfully well-realised and stylish slice of space-sim action set in a satisfyingly seedy galaxy full of untrustworthy scum and illegal activity. The dogfighting action here is wonderfully tight and engaging thanks to the game's clever auto-pursuit mechanic, resulting in explosive ship-to-ship combat that allows you to get up close and personal, tracking your prey without much of the laborious fuss of other efforts in the genre. Juno Markev may not be the most exciting of protagonists and the story doesn't really come to much in the end, but there's a ton of side missions and a dynamic economy and morality system to keep you busy as you slowly unravel the mystery behind who killed her husband and left her for dead. Overall, this one's an easy recommendation for space-sim fans, dogfighting fiends and anyone else looking to indulge their inner space rebel.
