Sep 12, 2017Incredibly imaginative, extremely motivating and visually a treat: With Rayman Legends Switch users can look forward to one of the best 2D platformers of the last generation on their system.
-
Sep 28, 2017Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition adds new elements to the original but does not try to to revolutionize the game. It doesn't need to, as it's already a fun, varied and compelling piece of work, which becomes more alluring thanks to the added handheld component of the Nintendo Switch.
-
Sep 20, 2017Lack of new content notwithstanding, Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition is, at least for this moment in time, one of the best 2D platformers on the Switch. The level design and varied gameplay are top notch, the graphics and music are beautiful and I’m really amazed by just how much there is to unlock and accomplish in the game -- we’re talking dozens of hours of content. Unless you really like Legends, there isn’t much here for those that have played this on other systems But if you’ve missed out on Rayman’s resurgence on modern consoles, there’s no reason not to pick up this brilliant platformer.
-
Sep 20, 2017Sure, this is not a new game but Rayman Legends is a truly fun game on the Nintendo Switch that is definitely a must have title if you love arcade games, particularly of this calibre. Lastly, the level design is brilliant and the developers successfully take a 2D game and turn it into something very special on this new portable console that not only pays homage to the platformers of yesteryear but creates a very compelling modern game for the 21st century.
-
Sep 20, 2017With stellar gameplay, wonderful art and a superb soundtrack, Rayman Legends is one of the best platformer games ever released, hands down.
-
Sep 14, 2017Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition is surely the definitive edition of the game, although it adds very little to the original outing. New skins and Kung Foot tournament are not enough to warrant a second purchase of the game; however, Rayman Legends remains a must-have even four years after its original release if you haven't played it before.
-
Sep 14, 2017Still the best non-Mario platformer ever made and a stunning work of imagination, but if anything this is the worst version so far – not the best.
-
Sep 12, 2017One of the best platformers that we've seen in a while, offering its best version.
-
Sep 11, 2017The best choice to discover Rayman Legends if you hadn't the opportunity to play this great platformer before.
-
Sep 10, 2017This is very much the Wii U version with a few bells and whistles, but it's still one of the best non-Mario platformers of the last ten years, and that's definitely worth shouting about.
-
Sep 8, 2017Rayman Legends didn't age at all. It's still one of the most well-crafted and most gorgeous platformers you can play today, alone or with friends. But with only a few additions that don't change anything compared to the other versions, we can say we don't really understand how it feels "Definitive".
-
Sep 8, 2017Rayman Legends is a masterful platformer that excels in almost every way. It’s stunningly crafted levels, adorable visuals and excellent music all leave a deep, lasting impression.
-
Sep 7, 2017Despite its ‘Definitive Edition’ moniker, the vast majority of what you get in the Switch version of Rayman Legends has been seen in every other edition. The only truly new features here are a complete character roster for the first time and a tournament mode for its football mini-game. That’s not to say it's a bad game; that couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s still one of the best plumber-free platformers ever made, and its budget price means if you haven’t played it before this is the perfect time to jump in. Just be warned: if you already got your fill on Wii U or any other system, there isn’t really much here you won’t have already seen.
-
Sep 19, 2017Clean port of one of the best platforms with a cool Kung Foot tournament mode. Only the asymmetrical co-op of the Wii U version is missing.
-
Sep 19, 2017This edition of the game maybe isn’t really that definitive, and the price tag might be a little bit higher than one would expect, but Rayman Legends on Switch is still one of the best 2D platformers out there.
-
Sep 6, 2017It's still fresh and tremendously funny. Keep in mind that the new features aren't worth a new buy if you played the previous versions. If this is your first time with Legends... Go get it! It's one of the best games on Switch.
-
Sep 20, 2017The Switch version of Rayman Legends earns the title of the Definitive Edition in full swing, offering an experience that, while lacking in real-life content, exploits the peculiarities of the new hybrid Nintendo console so as to be the best Incarnation of Ubisoft Montpellier title.
-
Sep 20, 2017The new version of Rayman Legends for Switch, despite not offering significant additions, again proves that the Ancel game is one of the best modern platformers.
-
Sep 23, 2017Rayman Legends, exactly like its predecessor, is one of the best platform ever made. On Nintendo Switch, especially on the portable console, it's even better. The only reason to avoid it is if you already played it elsewhere.
-
Sep 9, 2017One of the best platformers in the last few years comes back in a great shape. If you haven't played it yet, this is another great opportunity.
-
Sep 27, 2017Rayman Legends is one of the best platform games you can find nowadays, and this is a solid version that you can take with you wherever you are thanks to the Nintendo Switch. Having said that, there is nothing new for those who already have another version of the game.
-
Sep 23, 2017This edition of Rayman Legends offers almost everything the previous versions offered. And for fourty bucks this is a lot. The game looks fantastic and feels everything but old or obsolete. This is simply a must have for Switch owners.
-
Sep 14, 2017Bursting with personality and fun everywhere from the menu to the game's 120+ levels, Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition oozes with the spirit of fun, competition, and cooperation that the Nintendo Switch wants to put front and center on its console.
-
Sep 12, 2017One of the best platform games of the last years presented in an exceptional Nintendo Switch “suit”.
-
Sep 7, 2017Beautifully crafted level design, fun gameplay, a jolly good sense of humor, a high replay value. This iteration is not just simply adding a dab of new content; it's a whole new unforgettable experience.
-
Oct 23, 2017In bringing the latest Rayman adventure to Switch, Ubisoft has given the machine easily one of its most visually stunning and enjoyable releases to date. Not quite living up to the moniker of Definitive Edition with increased loading times and performance hiccups, as well as a missing feature, Rayman Legends is still well worth the lower asking price to those yet to jump into Rayman's world, yet outside of the portability aspect it offers little to entice series veterans.
-
Sep 28, 2017Quotation forthcoming.
-
Sep 27, 2017Rayman Legends will always be a great game. With exceptional platforming and level design, more levels than you thought possible and stunning art and music the game is up there with the very best. Unfortunately technical issues mean this is far from the definitive experience that Ubisoft want it to be.
-
Sep 22, 2017This game offers everything from the original, plus a tiny bit more. It is still a game perfect for platform fans, but if you have already played the original, this will not really add value to your experience.
-
Sep 19, 2017Rayman Legends is still a brilliant platformer. The strong level design and the tight gameplay work together very well. The Switch edition however, does not really offer a lot more than the original game.
-
Sep 14, 2017Calling this the Definitive Edition may not be the most apt description. It is a fantastic version of the four-year-old platformer, especially considering you can play it on the go, but there’s little here that’s new or enhanced. The touch screen capabilities were pretty much in the game since its arrival on the Wii U and the Kung Foot update is just a tournament mode. In fact, the game’s load times are actually longer on the Switch, even though they’re still not too bad overall. Still, Rayman Legends holds up as a fantastic platformer even after all of these years, creating a memorable and highly-addictive experience that’s hard to match. The art style is one that fans will remember for along time and the musical missions standout as some of the most engaging stages in any Ubisoft game. There’s an incredible amount of content stuffed into this package, and even though it may not be a revolutionary upgrade, the Switch version feels like the perfect platform for Rayman Legends.
-
Sep 11, 2017If you haven’t played Rayman Legends at all, or even a Rayman game at all, this is a fantastic jumping on point. It’s gorgeous, the gameplay is fluid, and the progression is so satisfying. This is definitely the best way to play the game, and I can’t recommend it enough!

Nintendo Force MagazineOct 30, 2017It's sad to see the Switch get the worst version of a wonderful game. [Issue #30 – November/December 2017, p. 63]
-
Sep 28, 2017The Wii U version remains the real definitive edition, but Rayman Legends still plays and looks great on Switch.
-
Sep 20, 2017There just isn't enough here to justify warranting a purchase of Definitive Edition. It's slightly worse than its prior counterparts (even forgoing the Wii U's gameplay twist with Murfy and not letting another Switch user connect and play in that particular way), and the only truly new feature is the ability to play a tournament mode in the Kung Foot soccer minigame.
