A tribute to the early days of FPS. It's a must for anyone who was a fan of DOOM, Duke Nukem, and others in the 90s.

Prodeus is absolutely one of the best retro-style shooters this year on the Switch. The graphics are top notch, giving a gloriously gritty look that mimics the oldschool sprite based shooters of yesteryear, and at the same time giving a modern sheen to things that really fits nicely with the aesthetic. Incredible game. Terrible port.
Unfortunately it is almost unplayable in handheld on switch.
Frame rate drops to something that looks like 10-15 frames. Also sound is stuttering during fights.

This is an overall great FPS "Boomer Shooter" but on some levels it is plagued by music chopping in and out and an overall slowdown. If these problems could be fixed with a few patches it could be an 8!

    Sick af AF.
The amazing enemy sprite work makes blowing everything apart 3x more satisfying. You CAN turn them into 3d models, but only someone who really hates themselves would do that... Makes me wish Quake had the same option. Seriously, I'm on level 22 now and there hasn't been a single level that I didn't rate as "good". (You can rate every level as good or bad after you win). It

It pulls off what it's trying to do flawlessly. I f***ING love this game.

    Ultra juicy. Would bang.

P.S. I'm glad I didn't listen to the 0 dude... It runs almost flawlessly in handheld mode. There was ONE level where the audio crackled . Most of the time the game runs buttery smooth, that one level is a small price to pay for being lucky enough to play this on the switch whatsoever. I haven't tested but I imagine since it was just that one level, that there probably isn't any hitches in docked mode. Seriously it was one time at the latter half of one level. Not even close to a deal breaker and especially not worth a 0. If it bothers you, this game might be an 8 for you, not nothing. Some people really need to be a little more grateful for what they are given. The world doesn't owe you a flawless 4k 60fps constant fps port on a Switch for C***st sake. Take it from me, it's smooth enough that I can get through levels without dying on an extremely twitch shooter.

Also, I want to say that leaving the graphics options on default gives best handheld performance for some reason. I don't have a fps counter, but I want to say that this game often reaches 60fps and can fluctuate down to 30 at the lowest. Possibly 25 on that one level wit tha crackles.

This is simply a masterpiece, anyone who loves retro gaming, games like doom and duke nukem must play this beautiful game! this is a breath of fresh air for retro gaming, cool level design and simply beautiful pixel stylized graphics!

I am shocked, why such low ratings from users? the same Project Warlock is a failure, I missed more than 10 minutes in this game, but the same users

The nintendo switch port unfortunately is not a good. It has sound problems, frame drops, no native resolution and no gyro aiming. I don't recommend this game on nintendo switch if they don't release a good patch to fix these problems.

If you want to scratch that retro Doom FPS itch, Prodeus could be just the game to do it for you. The Switch version is inferior to other platforms hence even more retro, but the true magic lies within its fast-paced gameplay and lots of enemies to cut through with a flashy arsenal. If you like games like these, give Prodeus a chance.

If you want a very artistically and technically accomplished Doom clone, Prodeus absolutely delivers. Support for fan-made levels can potentially expand your experience somewhat but the option to create your own is missing from this version. Performance on Switch isn’t flawless but it is still very playable and looks great the whole time. While it struggles to find its own identity along the way, and comes off more as an elaborate mod or a fan game than a title of its own, Prodeus does still stand as a solid though unoriginal shooter.

Prodeus is an unashamedly loud and brash FPS that manages to put a true modern twist on the retro shooter.
