Overall decent game with some exciting gameplay but a lot of flaws. The fighter pool feels fairly expansive but ends up becoming stale rather quickly as there isn't a lot of variance in how each individual character can be played, and a lot of the time certain match-ups can feel very limiting in enjoying the game properly. Its a good port that adresses some of the pressing problems of the original. The gameplay is still fun and fast paced and the new characters - Decidueye, Empoleon, Darkrai, Scizor ans Croagunk - are a joy to use. The premise of this game is a dream come to true to every Pokémon fan.
The roster feels kind empty, if you think there were 800 options they could choose from.
The daily challenge is nice and all, but the single player mode is really lack luster and it got boring real fast.

    Single player:
The single player helps you learn the absolute basic controls and combos. AI is easily exploited even in higher ranks as they will rarely block burst attacks. The story is "there" but is not well implemented or engaging. There is no single player replay value outside of completing challenges for various titles.

    Combat:
Pokken DX is an odd mix of simple and complex. You have 2 traditional game modes, 2-D figher and 3-D area, that you will need to learn intimately for each character as you will be switching modes multiple times each battle. While each move is performed with a simple input of direction+button complex combos are created as the character doesn't always move in the direction you input. That said once you adjust you'll find a rosters of character who each have their own unique tools. The learning curve is steep but it is truly rewarding to learn a character and see what you can do.

    Sound:
The crisp audio helps to convey the action on screen but I remember only a handful of themes as most are unremarkable.

    Visual:
Each character has fluid animation which helps to convey the action on screen. The particles do help in informing the player as to how they won/lost each trade but the number of bright particles can be distracting.

    Online:
The netcode is serviceable so long as you have a decent connection but you will be booted repeatedly if your connection begins to struggle.

    Continued support:
Recent Updates have provided players with the ability to do online 3v3 matches in ranked play. While the added game modes are deeply appreciated the game still needs continuing support to keep the online community alive.

    no se que decir :/
historia corta y un poco aburrida, despues de pasarla el online es aburrido, los ataques son repetitivos, si os gusta pokémon, mejor compren otro de 3ds o esperen que salga el de switch

Its great fun but there are not enough characters the story mode is trash and the 2d element while fighting just completely gets rid of the 3d after 1 hit so ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

It's entertaining but not worth the 60% price tag. I wish there was more content and a better story mode.

There aren't even that many characters and just for two you have to pay $20! Now with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate out that $60's this game costs would do much better going to Super Smash Bros. Overall, this is a good game to be played if you have extra budget to spend on.
There is lack of progress in the game, and it feels like its just another fighting games with your favorite pokemon.
If there is story mode, character unlock, quests added into the game, it would keep my hands on the game for a longer period of time. However, I love the sound, control, battle effects, and

Easy "pick up and play" game. Basically TEKKEN-Lite. I wish there was more DLC and unlockables. I feel like the story is pretty bland. The fighting system is pretty fun. I like how there are Power types, Speed types, and Technical types that allow you to play based on your preference. It's worth the buy, but understandable if you don't buy it. It's not a bad game by any means. it just has a very shallow cast of fighters. it's a good port but it's not worth full price if you ask me. love my boi scpetile though

Just ok, I expected a little more from this. I mean, the battle are every Pokémon fan wet dream, but aside from that, the great avatar customization and some decent graphics for a Wii U game, there isn't anything really worth it.

This seems to be a hidden gem of sorts. Not many seem to know about this game, but I think it's a quite competent fighting game experience.

    Difficulty - Medium
    Platform - Nintendo Switch
    Replay Value - 6/10
    Gameplay - 7/10

Extra Notes: It's pretty good. It was fun to play with friends and single player/story wasn't bad and sometimes fun.

A good fighting game with solid, original mechanics and impressive visuals. When I tried to come up with some similar titles, I thought of Psychic Force or Senko No Ronde rather than Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat. In other words, it’s a rather niche game that would probably go unnoticed without the Pokémon license. [13/2017, p.58]

Yes, Pokkén Tournament DX is essentially exactly the same game as the one on the Wii U that came out one and a half years ago. But the five new characters, the new modes and the mobility of the Switch make this a worthy port, not in the least because the fighting system is simply very cool.
