Personally, I was a bit disappointed with this game, as the new catching system being taken from Pokemon GO is a bit boring to me, and the lack of wild battles, while this means that you don't anymore get angry from the constant attack of Zubats or other kinds of bat Pokemon, it also means you can also get angry during the process of catching all the Pokemon, and not being able to find aPersonally, I was a bit disappointed with this game, as the new catching system being taken from Pokemon GO is a bit boring to me, and the lack of wild battles, while this means that you don't anymore get angry from the constant attack of Zubats or other kinds of bat Pokemon, it also means you can also get angry during the process of catching all the Pokemon, and not being able to find a certain Pokemon, for me, that was Chansey. However, it looks stunning, it isn't glitchy, it has many different outfits which is always nice. My personal score is a 6 or 7 out of ten, depending on the day, but I do believe that you SHOULD play this game if you are a fan of the fantastic series we call Pokemon, also, don't listen to the people saying that this game is bad, it is a stunning game and if you asked me to 100% this before generations 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 (Not Gen 5 because that is my personal favourite), I would probably say yes to that. it is a highly recommended game on the Nintendo Switch.
But Nintendo, if you're for some reason reading this, I would really like to see a blend of the old catching mechanic and the new one, where you can fight it first with the old Pokemon mechanics, then you can attempt to catch it with the Pokemon GO mechanics or faint it.

    I. loved. these. games. LGPE is a wonderfully nostalgic, heartwarming remake of my favorite pokemon generation. I was hesitant at first that ending wild pokemon battles would compromise the game's playability, but I actually ended up liking the new mechanic, a lot more than wild battles. they could make it a little more complex, but I do like the catching mechanic. I wont deny that LGPE are easy, but they are also FUN. The only thing I would like to see improved is post-game content. there's completing the pokedex, shiny pokemon hunting and the master trainers which are all great, but I would have liked to see the Sevii islands like in Fire Red and Leaf Green.

these 0/10 reviews are bogus. Nintendo has been upfront since day one of the release, stating it would be a game to introduce new players (young, old, and yes Pokemon GO players) into pokemon console gaming. People don't realize that this was an EXTRA pokemon game release, we normally only get a new game every two years. we got USUM in 2017, LGPE this year and we're getting the new generation in 2019... if you don't want to buy the game then don't. Nintendo thought outside of the box with this new concept, and it's clearly paid off. so continue to complain as much as you want, but it looks like this is going to end up becoming a core series along side the new generations of pokemon games, and I will happily be first in line getting each new remake.

I do like some changes for example, now the pokemon wonder around, letting you encounter the pokemon you want instead of it being random, this is just one pro to several cons. While some parts are innovative and look as though they're moving the game forward, when in reality, the game just takes several steps back.

With wonky motion controls for throwing pokeballs, simplistic needs such as pokeballs and potions being the only necessary purchases, catching pokemon being the most efficient way to leveling up encouraging less combat, most trainers having just one pokemon minimizes combat, the removal of passives making the combat less dynamic, unable to evolve your main pokemon, the removal of breeding, the removal of the slot machines and prizes in the game center, the removal of the safari, the addition of pokemon go which is something I don't even play, the lack of online play unless you have nintendo switch online which you have never needed before for pokemon games, no pro controller support, the lack of save data backup, the most expensive pokemon game, the pokemon game with the least content to date, and more.

While playing this game I've hardly felt any thrill, a very mediocre experience to sum it up. TL;DR, This game is more fitting for the fans of the anime series, rather then the game series.

Pokemon LGPE is the moment the franchise lost all it's heart and substance. Sure it's cute with the starter pokemon interactions, but the rest of the game is a bare bones even more simplistic take on what has been done twice already. (RBY, and FRLG). Not to mention the clearly shoehorned on GO mechanics. I'm not sure why they went with this, GO players are unlikely to buy a whole new console for a game aimed squarely at them. By taking out one of the most basic and classic mechanics of the game (battling wild pokemon) they have alienated a lot of the fanbase.

Then there is the graphical element, it's barely different to a 3DS game. They could have done so much more with this but just wanted to throw out a quick game to appease a new demographic, not their long term fans. The wild pokemon don't even look like they belong in their environments, it's like something you would expect from a free mobile game. Mew is only obtainable if you buy a £50 controller. The game randomly slows down for seemingly no reason, I doubt this is a game pushing the Switch to its limits.

Only 151 pokemon available (153 with the Meltan from GO), no natures, no held items, no abilities, no contests, no battle frontier. If they had to do Kanto again, a proper sequel after 20 years would have been perfect, including all the features above along with others I haven't mentioned.

Pokemon games have never been hard, but this one takes it to the extreme. For the first gym, they won't even let you in without having a grass or water type on your team. Your box is available at all times meaning using items is pointless. Pokeballs are handed to you constantly. Poison has no effect outside of battle. Basically any fun and challenge has been removed from the game. Kids didn't need this handholding in 1999, why do they need it now?

Overall it's just a very lazily made game aimed at people who probably won't buy it anyway. If the next main series games are anything like this, I will have to say goodbye to the franchise, even after 20 years.

Difficulty-wise, it is easier than FR/LG, but not as much as the negative reviewers claim. I found myself underlevelled in most gyms. But your partner Pokémon is definitely overpowered, and you'll find the battle mechanics throwing some freebies at you (random attack evasion, paralyze healing...). One of the best additions is that basically DVs are now visible, which means you can quite transparently see if a Pokémon will be a good fit with its stats. Wild PKMN on the overworld makes the experience less frustrating and more engaging. Just as in the last installments, HMs are gone (subsituted here by your partner). Held items and abilities are absent, and this is one of the most tragic flaws to anyone who isn't a newcomer, since it removes some of the important tactical depth which really wasn't necessary. Graphics are neat, but could've definitely been better, and there is no excuse to why this runs @ 30fps. Soundtrack remix is well done.

Despite the lack of additional areas, there is actually quite a lot of endgame content. There are definitely more than enough strong challengers with the new Master Trainer system, rebattles and others. The Master Trainers could've been better implemented (you'll find yourself 1v1 Weedle @ Lv.65).

This is a decent, but foremost daring remake. Most of the newly introduced aspects are keepers, while we definitely want to get back our removed tactical layers. Local co-op is pointless as it makes the game only easier. There is no denying this is in some obvious aspects a watered-down, simplified experience, which also lacks (almost) all Pokémon of later generations. On the other hand, you get the best-looking Kanto with reduced frustration (no HMs, no random battles), greater variety of wild encounters, topped with some neat surprise extras. While FR/LG might still be more recommendable to core gamers, Let´s Go is worth checking out for any Kanto lovers.

I´ll try to be as objective as I can but bare in mind I´m looking at this game as someone who started playing when Pokemon Blue came out and I played every version except Sun/Moon, but again, never as a competitive player so I won´t say anything about balancing in PvP.

    Pros:
    -no more HM slaves needed
-no more random encounter frustration, you can now see the pokemon in the grass, helps both with catching what you want and immersion, it was always weird how 3m tall pokemon could hide in a knee deep bush
    -flying high makes traveling easier
-definitely more challenging than the last pokemon game I played (which was Y)
-even though I didn´t like Pokemon GO I thought the catch mechanics are surprisingly fun
-characters actually acknowledge you as the champion after beating the elite four
-chain catching pokemon makes the wanted pokemon spawn in a higher rate, making grinding less time consuming
-I personally didn´t like the item holding mechanics of previous games, so I´m glad it´s gone but this is really just my own taste
-graphics (textures, attack effects, models) look more polished and less "cheap 3D" than the last title I´ve played (again Pokemon Y)

    Cons:
-even though harder than previous titles it is still way too easy
-shared XP can´t be turned off
-even though flying high is neat it is wonky to turn off and on, you have to press at least 7 buttons and navigate through 2 menus to get your pokemon in and out of the pokeball to start and stop flying high
-having to buy a 20€ pokeball controller to get Mew is kind of an ass move, but it´s not necessary to have Mew to complete the pokedex and get the end game charm so I don´t really care
-master trainers do not provide enough entertainment to really count as end game content
-overall end game content is rather short, after beating the elite four I had to catch/evolve ~50 more pokemon to finish the pokedex and I could do it in two afternoons
-at parts like silph co there are way too many trainers, makes the game feel extremely slow, instead of 6 trainers who fight you with one or 2 pokemon they should have 2 trainers with 6 pokemon, makes the game more difficult and you have to wait through fewer transition screens
-the rival is not a rival, there is no dynamic between the main character and him and no real emotion (more believable characters please)

Overall I had more fun with this game than with any other pokemon game in a very long time, even though some things like the uninteresting rival felt unnecessary.

I watched on TV all my life around me and even the pokéball pitch that I had condemned so much in the end was fun. I played with him for wanting to play and I got infected. I saw how wrong I was to have judged a game, only by a few traillers, condemning the changes, without even experiencing them. I was captivated by the game. I had fun in a Pokémon game, something that had not happened for years, since there was no fun in the others, which were more centered, so to speak. Let's Go Pikachu was a fun experience and decides to buy the Eevee version, as I found the Eevee cute and got the female with the heart-shaped spot on the tail. If anything, this game is the evidence that the Pokémon fanbase is divided and is what Game Freak has been struggling with.

On one side there are those who love the competitive side of Pokémon: the ones that experiment with moves and abilities, held items and stats, and how they can make their favorite Pokémon the strongest they can be. Then on the other side there are those that simply enjoy seeing and catching Pokémon, playing the game just for fun without thinking about how useful their Pokémon is. The typical more advanced RPG elements are not important to them, as long as their Pokémon can defeat the Elite Four, it's all that matters.
This game is purely catered to the later half of the fanbase and newcomers that do not care, or even know about the competitive aspects of the mainline Pokémon games because they removed it all. Is this a bad thing? For this game alone? No. From the very beginning the developers have stated that this game was made for beginners and those who haven't played Pokemon since their childhood and probably only played Pokémon Go. Although, if they remove it all permanently for all future games, to me personally as a competitive player, that would be bad, really bad.

I'll start by saying that this game is incredibly easy, too easy for a kid that just learned how to read, even. For some reason, developers nowadays think kids are dumb, when it was kids back in the 90s that played Pokemon RBY that somewhat struggled but learned how to defeat Brock on their own, figuring how types a la Rock-Paper-Scissors work without someone having to constantly tell them and that was an achievement to be proud of.
This game is super hand-holding to the point it becomes infuriating. It doesn't help that your "rival" can hardly even be considered that, given the fact that he helps you more than challenge you. There's also the fact that your OP starter is all you need, regardless of what foe you face. it's like putting kids in their comfort zone, laying a warm, soft blanket over them and don't let them have a challenge they need to improve which, as the game goes on, makes the whole experience mundane and boring as there's nothing new, ever.
To make matters even worse, even if they had put in wild Pokémon battles, it wouldn't change the difficulty of the game at all. You carry ALL your Pokémon with you, at all times, which means that even if your party was severely wounded and you only have 1 Pokémon in your party standing and have no healing items to use, you could just swap your team out with a new one wherever you are. And if that wasn't easy enough, you can always play as 2 people and wreck literally any trainer in the game with a 2 on 1 battle. Always winning isn't fun.

The game also has major issues with performance. I always knew Game Freak was terrible at optimizing their games, but a game with upscaled 3DS graphics and 1k to 512 texture resolutions with no normal mapping should NOT drop in frames as often as this game on the Nintendo Switch. They even downscaled the shadows in hopes of fixing the issue.

Another terrible, terrible choice was the forced motion controls. How can you tell a disabled kid that got the game on Christmas that it can't play the game docked because it can barely swing the Joy-Con to catch a Pokémon or pet their Eevee? Or an amputee that only plays with their legs? This is a turn-based RPG, Game Freak, everyone should be able to play a turn-based RPG, everyone.

Despite all this, the game does have things I enjoy and wish would be a standard for every Pokémon mainline game to come.
Pokémon can follow you now, and be interacted with. Some even allow you to ride on them which is really, really cool, especially if you ride on a Dragonite or Charizard and fly to your heart's content. Fans have wanted this for a long, long time.
Random battles are replaced with on-map encounters. Now instead of constantly spraying yourself with Repels, you can decide yourself whether to encounter a wild Pokémon or not. However, if they decide to add this in future games, I wish they would also make some wild Pokémon aggressive and run/fly/swim towards you so that you have a reason to buy repels or be good at dodging.
Catching Pokémon is nice, being able to "immerse" yourself and throw the Pokéball instead of watching an animation doing it for you is great. However, they should absolutely not force motion controls. In undocked mode you can throw balls without motion controls and I still do not understand why they're forced in docked mode. Not cool.
The removal of HMs just like in Pokémon Sun/Moon is great and should stay.
Chaining catches to have a better chance of finding better and shiny Pokémon is neat! It gives a new meaning to mindlessly catching any Pokémon you see.

So in the end, you'll either really love Let's Go or you'll not enjoy it as much. I'm sadly on the latter side, but it's not a terrible game, either, it's just a bit boring.

I confess that when I saw the announcement of the game, I found the new capture system bad. Well, my sister bought her game for her daughter and I ended up creating a file to play. Well, I saw her enjoying herself so much and sometimes I looked, I confess I was amazed at the level of detail and the kantou nostalgia took me. I decided to give them a chance for the "junk game," as many people said, and I discovered that they were just blind haters. Because when playing, I was excited. My niece had Let's Go Eevee and as I played, I was overwhelmed by a strong feeling of nostalgia and I became excited with each catch, interact with the Pokémon, they followed you, being the difference interactions. I decided to buy Let's Go Eevee to have a game of mine and not have to make an excuse to stay at my sister's house when I wanted to play. I started playing in my house and I was falling in love. Soon I saw that the criticisms I read so much were unfounded and the result of haters, which only turned away hatred blind and intense. I researched and saw that it would be a parallel line of games and I loved that idea. It will have the traditional line and this parallel. I was thrilled when my world expanded at the end of the Elite Four. Seriously, I was happy when I saw myself flying high in the sky, crossing the map at will on the back of my Charizard. Seeing everything from above was indescribable and the challenge of the Masters, very challenging. I thought to pass them and luckily, I bought pokéball plus. I was able to challenge Mew's master. I finished Let's Go Eevee, I bought Let's Go Pikachu. I'm in Elite Four and I barely see the time of my world being expanded. I super indicate this game and I ask to ignore the haters. Give the game a chance, just like I did and I'm glad I gave it a chance, otherwise I would have missed a fun and exciting game. I never had fun in a game of pokémon, as it was in these games. They caught me by surprise and I loved it. Expand

Pokemon (Let's) Go, is basically Generation 1 pokemon + Pokemon Go combined, and generally for the most part it works pretty good, the graphics in some areas are a little lazy especially with some trainers clothing having just flat drawn on textures but this isn't the reason to play, its all about catching em all and Lets go gives the player to re-explore the Kanto region with the power of the switch, and new players to discover something new.

My biggest issue with the game is the poor motion controls, everyone has played POGO and had wild ball throws occasionally, well that happens just as much....if not worse in this game and it does get very aggravating especially during a large combo chain and you don't want to mess up losing valuable time in your hunt for shiny pokemon! But unfortunately, it isn't a matter of when it'll happen...just a matter how often it will happen and its too frequently - this is with joycon controls not to mention even some motion latency on making the gesture then a full second or longer for the game to register the gesture in-game which for a game that heavily uses motions controls isn't good and heavily lets the game down for me. The controller issue isn't a problem if you purchased the overpriced controller, which begs the question are the motion controls bad for that very reason?

Overall, Pokemon Lets go isn't a bad game, its charming fun and it has some nice touches here and there, but its not perfect and a few issues really hold it back from being better. I would honestly say, this is worth it for people like me who can't play POGO because of rural or in areas where POGO is difficult to play, this game is perfect for kids, easy to pick up and play but just remember, it isn't perfect and a few issues occasionally appear which add some frustrating elements.

The game is amazing and wonderful. I bought both versions. I hated to have to use Repel straight to pass in caves, for example, avoiding hordes of zubat and battling wild pokémons gave almost nothing of experience, besides being annoying and when it needed to complete the pokédex, the Pokémon gave a critic, precisely in a rare pokémon, after several hours in a same map, turning, supporting the hundreds of times of that same pokémon jumping in front of him. I bought the two versions and the pokéball plus. I just loved it. Expand

I wonder if the people complaining about the difficulty considered they're playing rock paper scissors with animals and not starcraft. SMD turbo nerds

Pokemon Let's GO Eevee is a very enjoyable game on its own merit, I did not care for Pokemon GO itself, but this game has given me a reason to at least mess with it some. The game has a nice visual style to it, and the redone music is a perfect fit. Catch mechanics are just like Pokemon GO, and for wild battles, I am honestly ok with it, it takes out a ton of tedious grinding out, andPokemon Let's GO Eevee is a very enjoyable game on its own merit, I did not care for Pokemon GO itself, but this game has given me a reason to at least mess with it some. Many of the advanced features for competitive play have been removed, but for a game that is meant to draw in a new group of people that makes sense. In the end I would have liked to see the Sevii Islands from Fire/Leaf, but since that was used to let players get newer Pokemon it would not have made much sense to add them in without overhauling them greatly.

Pokemon Let's GO gets a 8/10 from me, fun, enjoyable, and Eevee is cute as hell.

Overall, I did have a blast playing Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee. I did like visiting all the cities of the original Pokémon games again and seeing all the original Pokémon. However, I really did not like how they changed how you capture Pokémon and I did not like the setup of the Pokémon boxes. For those who want to play this game for nostalgia reasons, I would recommend waiting until a sale comes out before purchasing. For newcomers to Pokémon, this is a really good introduction into the world of Kanto.

It’s hard to make sense of the game that’s basically a Switch port of iOS/Android remake of Pokemon Red/Green. Is it a step forward, step backward – or maybe just a shameless cash-in? Turns out, it’s a great remake – the world looks exactly as we imagined it back when we were staring at black and white pixels of original Red/Green. [Issue#235, p.44]
