First the game runs beautifully over all with some very minor slow down when a lot of Pokemon are on screen in handheld mode. The graphics are beautiful, albeit simple (simple =/= bad as some try to claim), the catching mechanic takes way more skill in mid to late game than mainline games before it, the game is a fun and engaging return to Kanto, Pokemon roaming the map instead of wild encounters is so much better.

The bad: its a Pokemon game and if you've played one you've kind of played them all. It does some fun new things but at the end of the day they're just new gimmicks just like every new gen tries to do. I really hope bare minimum the over world roaming Pokemon mechanic stays. If you're on the fence but love Pokemon do yourself a favor and buy it, if you liked Pokemon games before it you'll like Let's Go.

I really recommand this game especially if you are normally not a fan of JRPG games. But also for those who do like JRPG'S and mainline Pokemon games, because even if it's easy (mainline pokemon games are also easy) progression feels balanced trough the whole game and combining that with your Pokemon is really relaxing and fun. However as a Pokémon AAA title it falls short of shallow compared to it counterparts. My excitement for this game was looking forward to new changes to the story, soundtrack, gameplay and online. This was short lived however game freak did the bare minimum for this game and comes off lazy. Everything this game brought felt monotonous and bland event for generation 1 standards where my only true enjoyment was the fighting the the champion and the end. A big disappointment was a music it was uninspired. Pokémon has one of the best music in video game history but every song in this game lacked impact or “catchiness” Pokémon yellow and even fire red and leaf green did. The biggest disappointment was team rocket. I was hoping for expanded lore and story about team rocket and especially a DEDICATED TEAM ROCKET BATTLE THEME which I desired since Pokémon began and still they decided not to for whatever reason. But the biggest gripe is the new catching mechanics. Gone with wild encounters which I personally liked, but the new catching mechanic is gimmick incarnate. It is mandatory to use motion controls to catch the Pokémon which is already annoying as it is but they added Pokémon go style behaviors which means at any point the Pokémon will flat out flee. Of course this could’ve been evoided by having a standard wild encounter option in the settings. Lastly the battles, Pokémon has always been holding your hand Their games in the last few years but this takes it to a whole new level. They removed item holding which cuts a lot of depth in Pokémon battles. Pokémon gym battles have requirements before your aloud to challenge the gym leader which is inconvenient and pointless. Once you finish a Pokémon battle or catch a wild Pokémon you are given experience, not only to the participating Pokémon in battle but the whole party. This gets rid of actually using your Pokémon and building a team to your liking cause in the end almost all my party was the first 6 Pokémon I caught in the beginning but never bother to swap because their levels were adequate. The visuals are good but still look too similar to Pokémon sun and moon but that’s a minor gripe. When undocked the frame rate dips to uncomfortable levels in menus and in graphically intensive scenarios. Online is abysmal sit. Even bother trying to trade or battle this one. Unlike the already great GTS in other titles where trading and battling was so simple Pokémon let’s go devolves to basically linking via local connection or internet with a ridiculous passcode. this is way of connecting is very outdated and waste good opportunities to trade with other users. Overall this game does a lot of things poorly, however i still enjoyed playing it and I hope a lot of these issues are changed in the future via update or patch. Expand

Even the biggest issue brought up before launch, the new prerequisites for entering gyms, are largely simple tasks that don't, in any way, shape, or form affect the flow of the game, as most task are so arbitrary that you'll have them done well before you get to the gym. Overall, people are complaining just for the sake of complaining, and more than likely none of the people giving the games 1s and 0s have even bothered to even touch the game. I'll start by saying that I've been a hardcore fan since the beginning.
When Let's Go was announced, my initial thought was "meh, looks ok I guess". After having it and playing though, its literally probably the most fun I've had in a Pokemon game IN QUITE A WHILE. Yes it's true that there are features missing that the original main series games have, but let me say this: This. Is. Not.

Yes it's true that there are features missing that the original main series games have, but let me say this: This. Is. Not. A. Main. Series. Game. At all.
This is the in-between spinoff filler game that we get while we wait for gen 8. This is an entry-level game designed specifically for parents/kids/genwunners that started or got back into the franchise with Go.

It literally isn't designed for longtime fans, but it has the nostalgia kick that will still bring them in. Not only that, but the features it lacks from the original, it more than makes up for with all the new features it adds.
And there are a lot, with most being what people have been requesting for a while! (following pokemon, overworld flying, buddy pokemon, overworld encounters, it goes on).
Not to mention, the features it lacks from the original make sense for what it is (a which is, a Go combo game). Personally, I love when Pokemon steps away from its usual, redundant formula. This game is like a vacation to me.
The fact that I can skirt around an encounter is fantastic, and this is the best game I've played for shiny hunting so far hands down. I love having Pokemon following me again and hell I even like the Pokeball controller. To me, its reminiscent of the HG/SS days.
Its an easy game, because again, its entry level and wasn't meant for you. Its obviously designed to be super casual, NON-COMPETITIVE, and with young kids in mind. I would still even love to see some of the features return for a main series. It just blows my mind how veterans are having such bad reactions, because honestly, what did you expect?

Is it a cash grab? Absolutely! Thats Pokemon's entire marketing scheme. Does it work? Absolutely! The sales on the games are doing extremely well. Why is that necessarily a bad thing?

The point: Don't write off the Let's Go games just because people are being negative nancys. Its fun. Let people enjoy things.

While many people would say the game is very easy and for casuals, I would very much disagree. The difficulty of the game has switched from battling and random encounters to physically catching the pokemon. The game gives ample supply of pokeballs to toss, however there is a skill gradient that comes from learning the way each pokemon moves and how to predict it's movements.

Do not allow the review bombing to dissuade you from purchasing this game and testing it out for yourself. While there are flaws that exist in the game, I would say that the game comes out to a net positive with all of the neat ways they reinvented the Kanto region!

Good luck, and happy catching, trainer!

Pokemon lets go allows fans to go back to the roots of the franchise with a fun new installment that any fan will fall in love with. I can easily recommend this game to longtime fans as well as new fans. If you don't have a switch yet here's a perfect title to start with

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. this game is a creations from the ball throwing and Pokemon finding of Pokemon go. the region design of Pokemon red,blue,green,yellow,fire-red and leaf-green. as well as the spice of the being on the switch with the new and improved graphics, it also gives some trainers a new design and gives us some trainer of which we have seen in earlier games make cameo appearances

    Game-play

think Pokemon go with a either a left or right joy-con instead of using your finger on a phone to throw a poke-ball. It is quite nice to see them shake up legendary battles with having to beat them in a normal battle within 5 minutes and then try to catch them. this adds a little bit of ideas into battling while also making true to the old ways of trying to catch them in a battles. it was also nice to see Pokemon follow you again which we last saw in gen 2 remakes on the DS

    Story
think a reboot story of Pokemon yellow but with new modern flares. such as old characters from different generations. an example of this is Archer from generation 2 who you battle quite a few times. you travel through the kanto region trying to get all 8 badges and stop team rockets evil plans. it gives a bit of spice into the old story since we no longer have HMs so the partner Pokemon can learn them and it doesn't take up move slots.

    Pokemon
The only downside of the game is that it doesn't have any Pokemon past mew. it then succeeding in redeeming this via the 2 new Pokemon meltan and melmetal and alolan forms. this saves some Pokemon from uselessness as well as adding the only few dark types in the game (alolan meowth line, alolan grimer line, and the alolan rattata line). the only re problem with the game is no GTS and not Random battles on the online service

    Overall

i would recommend this game to those who want a game of which want a easy Pokemon game or one that is like Pokemon go

It's "main quest" is not grindy, and can be beaten with little to no extra "training" along the way. The end game content however is very tough and grindy, which is something experienced Pokemon players know and mostly love.

The reason for the reveiw bombs is simple, many old Pokemon players feel contempt for Pokemon becoming "main stream". As a competitive pokemon player told me, he didnt like how pokemon was becoming "cool" when he used to get picked on for liking it. He said that the same people who used to bully others for liking it, are now fans. He didnt like that pokemon was becoming accessible to everyone. The bad reviews arent because of a bad game, it's because old school pokemon players feel threatened by this wave of popularity and newcomers into a franchise that they feel was only made for them, not everyone else.

As a pokemon fan who played the originals, fell off, and is now returing, I welcome these changes and the wave of popularity. Pokemon is meant to be enjoyed by everyone, not enjoyed by a few "elite" players.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game isn't nearly as a bad as the mob of users review bombing it would look you to think.

The game certainly isn't what most fans are used to, and if you're not from the Gen 1 days, it'll take a bit of getting used to. However, even with its flaws, it certainly proves to be an exciting and fun experience.

    THE GOOD
    - The graphics are absolutely incredible, and the best the series has to offer thus far. The are still a few cheap moves with shadowing on certain pokemon (Cloyster), but it is minimal compared to the achievements.
    - Linearity is almost nonexistent, with the region opening up rather quickly, offering a great deal of freedom for players. Half of the gyms can even be battled out of order, a first since Gold & Silver.
    - Much of the hand holding that existed in Sun and Moon is absent in Let's GO. Much like the original Red & Blue, you'll have to learn as you go if you're new to the series. However, the game is simple enough for newcomers to grasp its mechanics rather without much strain.
    - (SPOILERS AHEAD) Gym Leader rematches have finally returned! In addition, such rematches offer easter eggs leading into the lore of Gold & Silver, including Blue becoming the gym leader of Viridian City after Giovanni's departure.
    - The story, while mostly the same as Yellow, offers a few new treats that is sure to please older fans.

    THE BAD
    - The capturing system is rather flawed, and can easily become annoying. Its inconsistency can to it rewarding terrible throws and punishing good ones.
    - The online system is 'friends only' making general battling almost impossible. This can prove troublesome for competitive players and those who just want good clean fun without hassle.

    THE NEUTRAL
    - The game's difficulty, while relative features are optional, can still prove abysmal for most players. Through careful planning does one ensure a truly challenging experience. However, for a nice fun game, not much needs to be done.

Overall, while Let's GO isn't something most fa will be scrambling for in the future, it definitely made for a wonderful experience even if only for the next 12 months. But hey, if you truly are on the fence about the game, there's always the 2019 title. :)

However, this is not the case and instead people are not only asked to pay full price of 60$ for a game that clearly comes from a handheld, but even worse, for a game that is in no way a definitive version of the first generation Pokemon games. The first remake, FireRed/LeafGreen, had much more content available for a lower price (and a free dongle to trade wirelessly and play minigames) but even the original Red/Blue/Yellow is giving Let's Go run for its money when it comes to the value provided. Add to that performance issues like unstable framerate or unrefined motion controls, and it's very hard to justify the price tag to anyone who either respects his/hers money or the series itself.
While I don't condemn changes made to the game's formula in Let's Go, there being no way to adjust gameplay according to one's preferences, like turning back on wild Pokemon battles, turning off exp. share or simply allowing the players to use the ProController, builds an image of an unfinished product, which stands out in a bad way among (mostly) great games so far released by Nintendo on Switch.

The let’s go games are to Pokemon what Mystic Quest is to Final Fantasy. A dumbed down pathetic excuse of a game that was designed to be more appealing to everyone, but that rejects what the core fans of the franchise love about it. It has some cute moments, and plenty of nostalgia, but standing on it’s own, it is the worst entry into the Pokemon franchise to date.

It has some cute moments, and plenty of nostalgia, but standing on it’s own, it is the worst entry into the Pokemon franchise to date.

    The good:
I love how they've kept the ability to interact with your pokemon(well, at least with your evee/pikachu).
I love how they've expanded on the idea of utilising your pokemon outside of battle. Riding around on a pokemon that I have caught and trained feels much more enjoyable than having limited choices, and not being able to use the pokemon set aside for transport in battle of the likes.

    The bad:
No wild battles. Combined with the always enabled XP share, there is a severe lack of intimacy with one's pokemon, as there is very little need to train or care for anything more than the one given to you at the start.
Catching mechanics. They remove any kind of real depth to catching pokemon. All it is now is throw a piece of candy, and then throw your best pokeball(which you'll have hundreds of without ever buying any).
Your rival. He is possibly the worst part of the game. In the original first generation games, your rival was obnoxious, and was always pushing you to be your best, in the hope of beating him. Now, your rival is a pathetic coward, who does nothing but praise you at every step. He is somebody to be pitied. Not somebody to challenge yourself against.
Movesets. In every second or third city, you can find an individual who will teach your evee some stupidly powerful moves, which will ensure you never need to use any other pokemon, ever.
Difficulty, or the lack of it. Along with cutting out the need for HMs(though this was removed from S/M as well), the always enabled XP share, XP for catching pokemon being more than XP gained from battles a lot of the time, "story puzzles" being solved by NPCs for you, free revives and other items being handed to you all the time, and the powerful moves given to your starter, the game seriously lacks any kind of difficulty, or depth.

The game is extremely charming, and still feels like Pokemon. I went in expecting something that was phoned in, and just an attempt to slap together the Pokemon GO mechanics with Pokemon Yellow for a quick cash grab. However, I find myself unable to put it down. Yes I was initially disappointed that random wild battles were gone, but in it's place we get a fun and different approach to the Pokemon games. It gives the universe a fresh feeling that I rather enjoy. Everything else feels just like a core Pokemon game!

    PROS:

    *Style*
    Appealing, enjoyable, and very clean

    *Wild Captures*
Feels more fleshed out from Pokemon GO, not as static or buggy. Just as addicting

    *Battles*
All clear here. Still the same fun from any other Pokemon game. There's just as many, making me feel like I really haven't lost anything.

    *Music*
    Awesome soundtrack

    *Characters*
Still wish we had a jerk of a rival, but all the characters create an enjoyable atmosphere

    CONS:

    *Difficulty*
Its a Pokemon game. Duh. They've always been as hard as you make them on yourself. However Gamefreak made your starter WAY to powerful. Made the first hours mind numbingly easy. I've set mine aside to avoid carving my way through every battle with Eevee, because you TOTALLY could. Instead I've solved this by building a team without him. Ramped up the difficulty enough for me to start really enjoying the game.

    *RNG*
Always been part of Pokemon games. But the wild captures are still very luck based like in Pokemon GO. The Pokemon can still run away after you throw the ball. Eat your food and bounce. A bit annoying to say the least. Takes a lot of the timing and strategy of throwing a ball away, and leaves a lot to luck and fast reaction.

    *No Breeding*
It was very unfortunate to miss out on the breeding and EV / IV mechanics of the game. That is a loss I cannot ignore. Plain and simple. If Gamefreak took the time, I believe they could have created a new formula for breeding for CP (instead of IVs). Missed opportunity.

    OVERALL:

I'm loving this re-imagining of Pokemon. It's casual, sure. But still very enjoyable. Honestly I wouldn't mind if they continued to make these style of remakes for other generations. And hope they do! It breathes new life into the universe, and really feels like something new.

If you are still on the fence about this game, give it a shot. Try it out for an hour, and I'm sure you'll see what I'm talking about too.

Firstly let's say this is a main series (as pokemon has been saying) and not core (i.e. RBYG to USUM and the games in between) games. If this spawns a series of let's go games, creating it's own separate thing than whatever. However the craze of pokemon go has largely died down since 2016, although the game still as just over 2million active users, it seems odd that pokemon company has even bothered to draw these players closer to the core series via this weird hybrid of the two. Not stating this without reason, the core series consistently sell over 10million, with exception to installments like emerald, crystal, platinum (that sell over 5million). Total core series sales is just under 230 million units. The begining of the last generation; Pokemon sun and moon sold over 16million. Making an attempt to add 2million Go players at least seems to be pointless, as if they had any interest in the core series they would have already picked one up or stayed with it. So kinda seems like a waste of time to make these games, objectively. But let's go over the games

What are the positive aspects of this game:
    1. It looks nice; the art direction is HD for the most part so nothing to complain about to much*(N.B on the much part)

    2. It is super easy; if you have a child who is a recent fan of pokemon go, then this is a good start i guess, and a start in which many players began 20+yrs ago.

    3. Pokemon walk around with you; this was a feature in Heart Gold and Soul SIlver back on the DS system (however that included around 450ish pokemon, just a bit less than that), it's nice to see your partners mostly to scale behind you

    4. If your a new commer the game only includes the first 151ish pokemon, so completing the pokedex isn't as intimidating as a task as it is in the newer games with over 800 pokemon. For old first generation fans returning to the franchise it is also nice for the same reason.

    Negative aspects of these games:
    1. this game costs $60 USA ($80 AUS, if like me you live in Australia); ok so normal price yeah, the games on the handeld lines where about $50is only a $10 increase. yup a $10 increase for a game that has 80% less content. oh boi.

    2. Mew is behind a pay wall; i hate microtransaction, lootboxes, you name it. DLC i don't mind as long as it is worth the price, i.e. witcher 3 DLCs absolutely worth the price, Breath of the wild, yup sure worth the low price, you get it good quality extra content for a fair price, most of the DLC i enjoy are ones in which i feel like i don't need them to have a full experience. SO what does this have to do with Mew, well mew is 1 of the original pokemon and has a lot of lore and fan love, so what do they do, the slap that behind a $50USA ($70 AUS) controller that is not needed to play the game and is only used for a gimmick. They also want it to be the only way to get mew, as you can't transfer your mew from Pokemon go to these games.

    3. 80% less content compared to core: like i said before this is not worth the money. This game only includes 151 of 801ish pokemon in the franchise, removes held items, abilities, EV's, anything competative. Removes wild battles for GO's simple capture. This doesn't work, the motion control are inconsistent and you have to use them, it messes with leveling up. People for this complain about core series, "RNG" system of battling and weakening pokemon (which by the way is not slow, annoying or grindy, cause it has many methods to increase your odds of catching pokemon and if your tired of running into pokemon just use a god dam repel, you have access to them form the start of the game), however this supposed better system is so so much worse; wild pokemon can just spawn at your feet (one top of another pokemon, why is this a thing) they clog the overworld (just try using any rideable pokemon, you hop of them at any ledge or inconvienience), catching pokemon gives you more exp that trainer battles (which is dumb) meaning to level up, your box will be innevietably filled with hundreds of pidgey's.

4.This game is so easy. Every trainer or rival, gym leader or bad guy never has more 4 pokemon or even 2, they force you to enter gyms with a requirement that makes it easier, your partner literally has a broken movepool and can solorun, stats and moves are broken, and you can use the other joycon to go 2player and effectively tag team 2v1 anyone, all the critic reviews or people saying this is hard, are bad at pokemon and videogames.

    5. This game has sudden frame drops (how? like how?), the shadows are still pixelated (why? this is a switch that can run Doom with decent fedelity and frames), the art style is booring, so are the characters, they introduce meltan just cause (mythical for the sake of being mythical) to enitce people to buy it for complete pokedex's. The music is eh, heard better fan remix's.

This game is only worth $20. Wait till this goes on sale

Yes, they know what Nintendo said about the game not being exactly like the others and, yes, they know about the mechanics that Nintendo said would not be in the game. With that said, that does not invalidate their entire review because, like everyone else, they had their own experience with the game and just want to share their thoughts. So, don't be so quick to down-vote. This is what reviews are for, to show an overall reception of a piece of media. So take in all of these reviews and form your own opinion about the game.

    ANYWAY,
I beat Pokemon Emerald in 3 days when I was 5 years old. That being said, Pokemon Let's Go Eevee (and Pikachu. They're the same game. Don't be a sucker and buy both) are dumbed down to the bear minimum.
    - Always on exp share (not a big issue though)
    - Pokemon GO wild battles
    - constant hand holding
    - friendly rival (because children are sensitive and words hurt I guess)
    - No abilities
    - No held items
    - Only first 151 Pokemon (plus Meltan and Melmetal)
    - No working game corner (because I guess that counts as gambling and we must shield the children)
It's almost as if Game Freak assumes that kids these days are getting dumber every year. The games were already easy and, now, they're just lifeless.

I don't have a problem with going back to Kanto because I really like Kanto. The issue lies in that there are no new places to go. In fact, places like the Sevii Islands have been taken out. Personally, I would have really like to visit Johto afterwards but I guess that was too much to ask for.

I also don't have a problem with wild pokemon appearing outside of battle rather than being randomly selected when running through tall grass. The issue with this, though, is that there are so many of them and, a lot of times, you will have your path blocked by randomly wandering wild pokemon whom you can't touch because then you'll be forced to play carnival ring toss with them.

The story is fairly the same as pokemon yellow with little to no change. You start out as a trainer in pallet town and end after beating the pokemon league. Simple. There is also no post game unless you think that "Master Trainers" actually qualifies for being post-game content. I don't see why Nintendo made a big fuss over master trainers. They're just 1v1 battles of the same pokemon and you get a title of that specific pokemon when you beat them but, those titles don't make sense in any context if you use more than one species of pokemon.

You can also try to complete the pokedex but that only works if you get mew who is locked behind a paywall. That's right! You have to buy the pokeball plus to acquire mew which is another $50 ($40 dollars if you buy the bundle pack) because, I guess, EA must've taken Nintendo aside and told them that consumers love getting screwed over at every turn.

Also, half the animations were quite literally ripped from SM/USUM so expect a lot of things to look familiar. ALSO, the graphics look sub-par. The switch is definitely capable of more than just SM/USUM graphics without the black outlines. So, that was unimpressive.

Character customization is pretty shallow despite being much better in previous titles on an inferior console. Once you pick your character appearance, you are not able to change anything about it from then on (hair style, color, eye color, etc.) You can still customize your outfit but, that has been dumbed down to just a few sets (some of which are version exclusive) and any attempt to mix and match between the sets never looks right.

The thing that I think this game does right is the music. The music is always top notch, largely because everything else is still conveyed through text. Taking the soundtrack up to orchestral level is always nice though.

Overall, this game is just... okay. It plays fine. It looks fine. However, once you beat it, there is no reason to ever come back. The online sucks and, now you need to buy a Nintendo Switch Online Subscription to even do something simple like that.

(TL;DR) Not worth $60. Designed to appeal to the very small brain stunted children. This game is Baddy Bad.

The only things I could really say that is bad is probably the motion controls, the difficulty, and a little bit of the new wild Pokemon mechanic. The motion controls are generally not too good. They are fun when you get it right, but frustrating when they go in the complete opposite direction of where you intend. It's better with the pokeball plus, but not everyone is willing to buy one. Also, the new wild battle system. It is fun to catch Pokemon like this, but regular wild battles would probably still be better. It's not bad, just it used to be better. Also, I feel it's a bit too easy. I know it's aimed at people who are new to the game, but there should be at least an option to turn the exp. share off. I'm currently playing the game and my Pokemon are all over-leveled and it was without much effort. Overall, besides a few flaws, Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee are very good games and introductions for people who are new to the game. I would recommend it for newcomers and old fans alike. Pokémon Let's GO , Eevee, also know as Pokémon GO for Switch, represents the future that Game Freak wants to take the franchise and its commitment destroying the fanbase that supported Pokémon for more than 20 years in favor of Pokémon GO players. The biggest mistake of this game is the simple fact that it exists. Pure garbage.

Okay, so I get that the games might be a bit on the disappointing side, especially with how lazy some parts of the game feels like; but at the same time I truly feel like the games have loads and loads of love and passion poured into them, they're supposed to be great games and they truly are to a certain point but afterwards it kind of dwindles down into "eh, I've seen this two hundredOkay, so I get that the games might be a bit on the disappointing side, especially with how lazy some parts of the game feels like; but at the same time I truly feel like the games have loads and loads of love and passion poured into them, they're supposed to be great games and they truly are to a certain point but afterwards it kind of dwindles down into "eh, I've seen this two hundred times already" and it kind of gets stale.

The reviewers that rated it a 0 or a 1 or even a 2 were indeed immature by being so negative about it, though I do get that it feels like a slap across the face for them; look on **** board /vp/, they're very... 'passionate' about Pokemon. But come on, it is just a bit childish to hate on an otherwise beautiful game just for the sake of making it look bad.

I myself haven't played the games but I've seen enough footage from livestreams and playthroughs to know that Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee are not games for me, nor will they ever be because they do not appeal to me.
However, though I am of the opinion they are a bit lacklustre when it comes to how the experience feels, as I don't feel wowed, just mildly entertained and at that point the grinding for Pokemon just feels tedious when there's no thrill of battle. But truly, the games are gorgeously crafted, the remade soundtracks are amazing and you can really see they tried their best to stick to their plan and made an easy to pick up game for kids to enjoy and get into with a cutesie artstyle and everything with it.

    So to conclude my statement;
While the game does deserve it's criticism for lacking in various important areas such as replayability, thrill management and depth of the game, it doesn't deserve the beatdown it is getting for it is still a stunningly gorgeous game carefully crafted with lots of time, effort, passion and especially a lot of love for Pokemon and that is where the game truly shines.

It is easily worth a solid 14 out of 10 for how beautiful it is, though it does deserve a critical 4 out of 10 for the fact it'll be lacklustre after 14 to 17 hours of the game.

Is it worth the 60 euro price tag? Not so much.
Is it still worth trying out at a cheaper price if you want to? Definitely.

The people who are rating this game 0's should be taken with a grain of salt, since most of the bad ratings don't even have a good reason as to why they are rated that way(or a reason, period).

But if you loved RBY as a kid and/or you love the Pokémon games and want to play them with your kids, this is a perfect game. The game is *not* in any way geared at hardcore players.
That’s why so many of these reviews strike me as so obtuse - people who want a different game than the game in front of them.

Of course, the game isn’t perfect. It’s not a 10/10. However, it is a game that’s ridiculously fun to play if you want to relive the RBY experience in a relaxing way. You still need to know your types, there is plenty to do post-game, and for collectors, there is no shortage of perfect IVs and shinies to gather.

Pokemon: Let's Go Eevee is the cheapest cash grab of a product I've ever seen, and is a premiere example of how little companies think of gamers. They think you'll buy anything as long as it's got cute anime graphics, enough that you'll excuse that the game is hastily glued together from 3 older games and slapped with a $60 price tag. You need to vote with your wallet and not buy games like this, to tell Nintendo that this kind of crap isn't acceptable.

It feels like a mobile version of Pokemon a Pokemon lite of sort. I don't have a problem with the changes I have a problem with what they removed. They could of kept the catching just make the normal fights like the legendary fights you beat fight the Pokemon and then catch them like the way it does now. The two player should make all fights two players there should not be a 2v1 when the enemy has 2 or more Pokemon. Exp share should have the ability to be turned off. Why turn off held items and abilities the whole point of abilities is that it added strategy to the game you had to be careful with certain Pokemon because they would make you poisoned or other things. Now I get this is meant for kids but this game is stupidly easy they might as well gotten rid of types because at this point it really doesn't matter I can trust Eevee or Pikachu to destroy everything. Another thing locking gyms if you don't have the right type of Pokemon or if you haven't caught enough Pokemon is crazy all it does is limit creativity with teams. All in all I like the things they added but I absolutely hate the things they got rid of and some of these things feel lazy because it would not of been hard to add them in especially the online factor and basic things like abilities. It's fun but it's hard not to feel like a lot of the current fans where neglected and it even almost feels like a crash grab. Now the last thing I want to say is that I know this is meant for kids and Pokemon was never heard but this another level of dumbed down. It's a good game but an extremely frustrating one

However, after playing about 20 hours of the game and getting about half-way through the main story, I must say, I love this game. The change in how wild Pokemon catching works is actually quite good. The overall simplification of a game series that, in my opinion, was getting more complicated just to add complexity, feels right. Overall I love the new mechanic, and wouldn't mind seeing it added on-top of normal battling in future installments.

The graphics are also top-notch in this release, and I love how everything looks with the art style. Really can't do much more to make me happy here.

The only reason this game does not get 10/10 for me is a few minor issues.

1 - I wish it included more than the original 150 Pokemon and the Kanto region. I would love to see at least Gen II and III be represented here in the first installment.

2 - Battling in the main story has been downplayed a lot, I feel like battling trainers is almost not worth your time as they don't provide a lot of experience compared to simply capturing Pokemon.

3 - I am ready for a more adult/gritty Pokemon release, but this is true with all their games. Even you "rival" doesn't feel like a true competitor anymore like they did in the initial games

Otherwise, I feel like this game is a solid installment to the franchise, and I honestly hope that Game Freak and Nintendo keep going down this path.

I don't think it's a big deal and I barely notice it. There's also no real "paywalls" either, since the only content locked behind a paywall is a children's peripheral that holds a Pokémon, that has no bearing on completing the Dex, and is outclassed in combat by various other 'mons.

The fanboys are brigading, but maybe they should actually play the game before leaving a review. Waa waa waa.

Seeing a fully 3D realized version of the original Kanto story is awesome. It's surreal seeing all of the original characters show up in the game as you remember; Brock, Misty, Bill, Gary, Team Rocket, etc. are all here. The game is about catching Pokemon, and the new capture mechanic from Pokemon Go makes you feel like you're actually catchin' them Pokes!

For those "unique" individuals, I would have to say, that this game is not for you. If you're looking for a true, Pokemon RPG with all 1,000+ Pokemon, EV & IV Stat Training, Wild Pokemon Encounter Battles, etc., that game is coming next year. Pokemon Let's Go is very much about reliving the original experience while also bringing in a new generation of Pokemon Fans that maybe aren't familiar with the original story. In that regard, Pokemon Let's Go certainly succeeds, and I will have a hard time not recommending this to friends that also grew up with the original adventure in 1996.

An unnecessary and absurdly silly game. It shows the mockery of Game Freak and Nintendo to the consumers, since they know that they are Muggles and will find wonderful everything that has the name "Pokémon".

cheap nostalgia grab: misses all pokemon post gen 1, items, abilities, graphics actually utilizing the switch's potential, and you can't 100% the game unless you shell out money to get mew which is actually revolting. wait for the 2019 game instead, hopefully it's too late for this trashheap having any negative influence on it.

The people settling for this are blind complacent fanboys who don't care about the quality of what they consume either because they idolize what they like to dangerous levels and adopt ''my team must win and can do no wrong'' tribalist mentality(which ironically enough they're the same people who will try to paint you as ''afraid of change'' when it's the same exact kanto just with GO mechanics instead of series staples) or casual players uninterested in challenging and in depth experiences and just want to have a relaxing and fun time, which is perfectly fine but I feel like previous pokemon games do a perfect job of being a fun experience for everybody no matter what kind of player you are and there's no need to dumb down a series iconic for being newcomer friendly and easily accessible. this just feel like a poorly thought attempt of trying to get more casuals in the series out of the mistaken belief they have to sacrifice everything long time fans enjoyed to do so, and also a way to test how many times they can get away with selling kanto over and over again. While the games themselves do have some redeeming qualities and aren't worth a 1 (probably a 5 imo as they're not atrocious but just painfully dull and mediocre), I feel like pokemon should remain appealing to everybody and strike a balance between the various markets and that the core idea of needing to make everything easier and dumber that sparked this game into being in the first place is completely wrong and shoudn't be encouraged. It's an extremely fun pokemon game. You got the mix of catching pokemon like in pokemon go and the same battle experience in the original games. The story is just like that from the original anime and it's a great refreshing and nostalgic game. I don't think that it's really worth $60, that feels a little stretched but besides thats its a really great game.

I have been playing Pokémon for the last 20 years, and this game is a disgrace to the franchise. Now, don't get me wrong, this game does have entertainment value, but absolutely not worth the $110 for this game plus Mew. The months leading up to this game's release have been the most confusing times prior to anything I've ever seen revolving around a video game. The game's director,I have been playing Pokémon for the last 20 years, and this game is a disgrace to the franchise. Now, don't get me wrong, this game does have entertainment value, but absolutely not worth the $110 for this game plus Mew. The months leading up to this game's release have been the most confusing times prior to anything I've ever seen revolving around a video game. The game's director, Junichi Masuda, has made so many claims that all refute each other in terms of the target audience.

The games take place in Kanto, so there is no reason to market this game to younger children because they don't have nostalgia for Kanto.

Yet, he said this game was for kids that weren't able to play Pokemon GO due to not having cell phones.

Yet, still, the only way to obtain Meltan and Mew are through playing Pokemon GO and buying a $50 peripheral respectively. Not things his claimed target audience are going to be able to do.

He has stated that Let's Go is also intended to get younger players introduced into the more mainline games, yet on the same token, has said that younger players don't have the attention spans for complex video games like Pokemon anymore.

These conflicting claims aside, there have been a lot of decisions in respect to the gameplay that point to a low-effort release, but I'll highlight the positive aspects first.

    - First, the removal of wild battles. This was a controversial move, but not inherently bad. I understand this change, and why it was made for these titles specifically, as the players coming over from GO are going to be most familiar with these mechanics (but I thought the target audience was kids who didn't get to play GO? Hmm...)

    - Secondly, wild encounters are no longer random, but happen in the overworld. For me, this is a welcome change, as it helps the setting feel more alive.

    - Thirdly, pokemon can follow you and allow you to ride them. Something fans have been asking about since Black and White.

But here's where the games fall short:

    - The games only have the original 151, plus the new mythical, Meltan and Melmetal. All the other pokemon have been removed.

    - The difficulty of the game is nonexistent. Gyms have prerequisites, one of which is that you are stronger than the gym leader before you challenge it.

    - The new height system for pokemon means absolutely nothing. The models don't scale depending on how big the pokemon is, all are the same size regardless of what the game tells you.

    - Abilities, held items, several moves and eggs have been outright removed from the game.

    - EV's have been removed from the game, but the stats you CANNOT control, such as IV's, remains.

    - You play as a new character to the pokemon franchise, yet there is no customization, unlike the previous two generations as well as GO.

    - Animations and models have not improved in the 5 years since X and Y came out. Most pokemon still stand around as if they are just waiting to get hit.

    - Pokemon Amie (the petting and nurturing mini-game from the past two generations) does not exist for any pokemon besides your partner pokemon.

While these games are intensely flawed, overall, yes, this game has entertainment value best suited for small children. I would rate this game much higher than a 0 if it were already clear that this is a game best suited for children, but the Kanto pandering of these games has muddied up who this game is really meant for. If you are a grown man reading this review, who is not satisfied with the qualities this game possesses, please, do not buy it. This game is perfectly suited for a child who would otherwise need help during the course of a normal pokemon game. If you are willing to spend $60 on a game for a child's birthday, this is not a bad way to go, but do not feel obligated to buy strictly because you are a pokemon fan. You are missing very little.

It simply exist to get shady and predatory behaviour in the games and dumb it down so they can milk mindless casuals who buy into the same microtransactions like they do with games like Fifa, Madden, etc. etc. They alienated the hardcore fans on purpose because they knew that they were getting retaliation of actual fans for this greedy behaviour.

This is Game Freaks first attempt at EA-like mechanics with putting a Pokemon (mew/Pokeball Plus) behind a 50 Dollar paywall. You might say "ha, you're not forced to buy it and you get a accessoire." while that is true, it still doesn't change the fact that you don't get all the experience without buying into it (not to mention the lack of the other 653 Pokemon. I don't have a problem with accessoire itself, after all Heartgold and Soulsilver had a similar one, the Pokewalker too, but the difference is, the Pokewalker didn't paywall anything behind it.

Also, I'm not generally against remakes, I love FR/LG, I love HG/SS and I love OR/AS too, but the thing is, these actual remakes never(!) took anything away. They much rather added stuff, not only could I catch all(!) at the time available Pokemon in siad remakes, no, they literally added content like the Sevii-Islands in FR/LG, or the awesome modular Safari Zone in HG/SS or the new Megas in OR/AS. They never took anything away, wether it was literaly content like Pokemon, or mechanics, or whatever.

But LGP/E only gives you the original 151(+alolan Forms and Meltan/Melmetal), it takes away wild battles, items, abilities, breeding and literally everything that was fun at the games, yet they charge you 50% more money than ever under the excuse of making it "for beginners". Pokemon IS already easy, there is no dumbinging down needed, you can beat any Pokemon maingame with any wild caught Pokemon, you don't need to CP breed, you don't need to use the abilities or items, it was all done just to milk stupid casuals. Nothing more, and nothing less.

And companies should always get proper response when they're becoming overly greedy.

EVEN ash in his TV series is losing some fights and has to learn. in this game you can ignore every logical step and still will have a cake walk.

Immersion: No weather, no day cycles, no high mountains, no big landscape, this game is flat. and its boring. Just by letting pokemon run around you can't oversee the bare land, its even steril, i can't believe Nintendo let them release this game like this.

Content: 153 Pokemon are out there. Some alola Pokemon can be traded, thats it. No other Pokemon game has this less content. Its empty. They could add them all!! just to compensate the missing abilities, moves and items. Its like this game has been made in less than 3 months. Using the first gen for a big title like this should only work if you could fight other real player, train and modify your pokemon or breed. But they removed everything.

Graphics: i read some reviews saying this game looks so cute and ect. thats maybe true. MAYBE they planed this style, but this is no excuse for this low details. Pokemon don't move properly in fights. you got 153+x models to set up for fighting and even then Pikachu does not kick in doublekick. Blastoise isn't using its canons and so on. thats lazy. thats betrayal on your fans. there is no point in saving work when its the fans that made your bussiness this big.

I will sell my copy to save someone else from paying full price. this game should not get the attention it got. its a lazy dropbuy, it should be found in some retail store with some big sticker begging you to pay 10 Bucks for it. DO NOT PAY FULL PRICE soon this game will be sold everywhere for a third.

Now if you're fine with Gamefreak/Nintendo saying "All the fans need to see is that it has Pokemon in the title" then by all means I guess this game is for you. If you're fine with them putting in less and less effort in every subsequent iteration of your favorite franchise then by all means throw your hard earned cash at them and see this the video games sink into mobile/casual territory. The Director himself said in an interview that "People/Kids are used to mobile games and watching games on youtube", so by his defintion, you the consumer have the attention span of an ant to even be able to enjoy fully fleshed out video games and would probably just enjoy watching beautiful scenery than actually playing the games. But enough about that.

See the problem with the games is, its a switch game, not only that but its pokemons debut game for the console itself. Its priced at 60$ which is 20$ more than the previous games and it has less content. This is a fact. Stripping the other pokemons itself is already a huge chunk of the content out of the games. FR/LG had sevii islands in the post-game, HG/SS had the battle frontier, OR/AS had soaring, mirage islands, battle-resort, Delta episode then LGPE has well.. 1 on 1 with a bunch of trainers just re-scattered around kanto. I get it they want to lure in the Go community and the people that left the games a long time ago but at the cost of alienating your LOYAL fanbase. That a bit of a kick in the nuts. Why couldn't they find a middle ground to make the games appealing to both and then again by the way they designed this game it shouldn't even be appealing to the casual-fanbase, in truth its insulting, basically them saying that the games in its current state, a childrens game btw is too much for other people to handle so they had to dumb it down even for grown adults to enjoy? ridiculous. but hey people will probably just eat this up because its pokemon and its pretty.

If you're a long time fan of the series and no matter how much this game looks appealing to you, just think about what this game means for the future of the series. Speak out, vote with your wallet. Maybe you won't feel the effects yet by the already announced gen 8 title, but at somepoint gamefreak is going to realize even without putting any effort into these games that they will sell, I assure you the video games will become shells of its former self. Im sure alot already feels this way with the 3DS games.

Pleasing newcomers and veterans isn't simple. But if you really are a veteran, what's your problem with this game? It's a welcoming title for new people and a deep bow for your nostalgia.

    Anyway - I enjoy it. :)

LGPeePee is easier than learning to use the potty! The game was made with braindead toddlers in mind, after all.

Now make Pika Pee Splishy Splash directly into the toilet bowl! Too hard? Grab a second joy con and mommy can help you out! 2v1 the baddies like a pro!

I’m going to be 100% honest on this game. I got it cause I’m a huge fan and I do think the game and although the mechanics work very well and that the game has great textures I still don’t understand as to why they thought removing the Wild battle mechanics were a good idea, if they’d of just left the wild battle mechanics I bet you this wouldn’t of had so much backlash. Hey obviously don’t care about what we think or want, just try and make most money possible which seems to be Nintendo’s new way of thinking. It’s not horrible of a game, but it’s dumbed down so badly it just doesn’t deserve to have the price tag they’re asking for, but in the end Nintendo has been over charging for their garbage ports for well over 2 years now, so what else should I expect. Thanks for nothing Nintendo keep at it you’ll wind up exactly where sega is right now, a third party developer for the main family of consoles. Expand

Way too easy, lazy content added while removing the good stuff, no cool modes or anything. Character models and overworld look awful.

Any encouragement this game gets will be used by GameFreak as justification for worsening the series. Pokemon has always been for kids and has always been enjoyed by kids as the most simplistic RPG series that's not free-to-play. This game is just disrespectful for dumbing down the gameplay to what ammounts to a walking simulator with cheap, plasticy graphics. While I don't believe this game is actually worth a Zero, people have resorted to 10-bombing the score to counteract the criticism. Expand

I've been skeptical ever since this was announced and frankly my opinion hasn't changed from any of the things they have shown us.

Before I start on this I must say this game is fine for someone new to the series. THAT is one thing I think everyone can agree on. It's a very basic game and is pretty much meant to be that bridge for people that haven't jumped onto mainline Pokemon yet.

If this game were judged on its own, it may even be worthy of a better score, however that isn't the situation this game calls for.

Let's Go Pikachu is a watered down game that's priced $20 more than Ultra Sun despite the latter having more content and overall being a better designed experience. LGP arbitrarily removes mechanics that have been a series staple, while throwing darts on the wall to choose which mechanics to keep (such as megas). There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to what gets removed and what stays. I imagine the development team for this game didn't have much direction. At its core LGP is a 20 year old game with a new coat of paint, nothing on a deeper level has really been changed in any meaningful way. It's received the most common QOL updates that the series has progressed on but nothing has really been done to make it feel like a modern Pokemon experience. About the only remarkable new thing in LGP is the interactivity with your Pokemon and more importantly your starter of choice. This game is clearly filler to stall time for gen 8, but it also strikes a chord with those people that have a weakness for nostalgia.
If you are very desperate for a new game regardless of quality, you might as well get this. If you are new to the series, this honestly isn't a bad choice. But if you're a veteran like me then this game really offers nothing for the $60 price tag, and I would advise against purchasing it. I for one will be giving this game to my brother and he will probably enjoy it.

    onto the game though:
For what it's supposed to be it's a 10/10 for me. It's a kanto remake with a long postgame! Evrery single interaction with eevee is the most wholesome thing on earth! The game is a little easy but not as easy as everyone is portraying it to be. I had some pokemon die a lot but not my whole team. the world looks absolutely beautiful, the music is amazing the pokemon scaling and them following you is what we wished for for years and now no one's even acknowledging it... why? I also love the removal of random encounters because in every pokemon game I found myself just running away from everything felling like my time is being wasted. I also surprisingly like the pokemon go catching mechanic!
A negative point is maybe the way the npcs move in cutscenes: you find them moving in one direction, turning and moving on instead of just going diagonally. And the 2 player mode really isn't as cool as it was portrayed in the trailers. it makes the game wayyyy to easy because every battle is a two on one. they could have easily made it so that trainers who have more than one pokemon would send out two at a time.
that's what makes it a 9/10 instead of a 10/10 for me because i was really hyped to play the game all the way with my pokemon loving friend that doesn't have a switch.

All in all this is an amazing experience and I'm not even remotely done with the main story!

Edit: so i played a lot more now and I gotta change it to a 10/10 because the game just got so much more difficult!! All my pokemon are underleveled even though i battled almost every trainer and caught a looot of mons! i had my whole team except one pokemon die twice and one of those times my Mew only had 10 hp left

Here's the deal. It was fun. Graphics are huge, and the interaction with pokemon was cute. I quickly got over the not battling with pokemon in the wild and how the pokemon run around in the wild is cool as well. -- The problem. The big problem. Is end game. As a fan of the series, what I wanted was to go hardcore and min-max pokemon so I could implement fun strategies in online play. ButHere's the deal. It was fun. But with the absence of held items, IV's, and pokemon effects (sturdy, poison point etc), it's just not there.

I probably wont play the next version, at least, not at the 60$ price point. Nintendo, if you want an amazing game, please bring back the end game for the hardcore fans.

I've been impressed by how unenjoyable this game is : the soundtrack is abysmal, the game has ugly visuals, these interesting random battles aren't there anymore. It's ugly, it's depressing, it's boring!

    Pokémon at its worst!

Just a lazy cash grab from Nintendo. I'm pretty sure, with the resources, I could make a better game than this. Don't justify nintendos laziness by buying this crap. They need to know this is unacceptable.

Pokémon Let's Go Eevee retains absolutely nothing which made the original Pokemon Yellow a great game. The graphics are outdated (even the 3DS games look better than this), the mechanics are flawed and simplified, and the animations are laughable. Can't imagine they spent more than 3 months making this game.

Getting review bombed for no reason. I grew up playing red, blue, and yellow. This may not have all the features that we've come to expect from a modern pokemon game.
They try some new things, and they're mostly fun.
Would i like more? Yes. Do i feel like i got value for my purchase? Definitely yes. The only major change I'd like is let us use the pro controller and get rid of motion

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Only 153 Pokemon, and a few alternate forms despite previous remake FRLG having all Pokemon from Gen 1-3
No Sevii Islands despite FRLG having them
Is for kids, but requires them to pay $50 and/or $20 and/or walk several miles with a phone draining battery app that also needs cellular data to 100% the game (Super Sonic being $2 doesn’t seem so bad now)
Despite an annual subscription for online play, there are less features than the 3DS games such as wonder trade, battle spot, and the GTS
    No wild battles
    No Safari
No games at the game corner, just text
Animations are completely recycled from USUM, including the walking animations for Pokemon
Blastoise shoots Hydro Pump from its forehead
Gym Requirements force you to have an advantage over the gym
They also made traditional nuzlocke rules impossible
Exp share can not be turned off
Lance uses **** Seadra simply because Kingdra isn’t in the game, as with the case with many bosses
The champion has no Pokemon with 4 moves
Red himself uses a Fire Blast Machamp without No Guard or Specs
AVs increase stats beyond what stats normally can be and can be maxed out in every stat, making Mega Slowbro+Chansey Core nearly unbreakable
Btw Megas don’t require items since no Pokemon can hold items
    No abilities either
They didn’t bother making a skeleton aerodactyl for the museum
Co op is wasted potential with it making battle 2v1s with P1’s team and no other functions

    Pros and Cons
+The game looks very nice overall
+I LOVE being able to see Pokemon on screen instead of random encounters
+The reimagining of Kanto makes this game very nostalgic for me
+As a person who levels all of their Pokemon I like the experience system
-The capture mechanic can be a little boring at times. I think if you had done some battling and then used the capture mechanic it might have worked better.
-The battles for the most part are VERY easy. I don't mind an easier Pokemon game but one or two hitting almost all enemies is a little too easy.

Overall, I did have a blast playing Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee. I did like visiting all the cities of the original Pokémon games again and seeing all the original Pokémon. However, I really did not like how they changed how you capture Pokémon and I did not like the setup of the Pokémon boxes. For those who want to play this game for nostalgia reasons, I would recommend waiting until a sale comes out before purchasing. For newcomers to Pokémon, this is a really good introduction into the world of Kanto.

It’s hard to make sense of the game that’s basically a Switch port of iOS/Android remake of Pokemon Red/Green. Is it a step forward, step backward – or maybe just a shameless cash-in? Turns out, it’s a great remake – the world looks exactly as we imagined it back when we were staring at black and white pixels of original Red/Green. [Issue#235, p.44]
