Apr 23, 2020Really disappointing game. Starts of promising, but takes turn for the worse. Very bad level design, that only highlights how the controls are unpresice and very unintuitive. Stopped caring about the story and will probably not finish the game, because it has lost it's charm. And that is shame, because it looked like masterpiece from all the reviews.

May 16, 2018The good:
- beautiful graphics and animations, very detailed pixel art
- a nice story with some twists (if you care to dig deeper)
- some event-driven sections to mix things up
The bad:
- Control scheme is very unintuitive
- Bad world design, the sections lack cohesion in terms of traversal
- Very unstable with lots of game-breaking bugs -
Jul 10, 2018overrated, I beat it on the first day I bought it.

Jun 4, 2018Somehow both slow and dull. Wait for a hard sale on this. I played for a day or two and just got bored. A $10 at best.

Aug 18, 2018Owlboy is a straight up masterpiece with amazing art, world building, lore, great music, unique but simple controls and general veriety in gameplay.
The story is not what is seems and in a good way, it surprises you with a hard hit to the gut, but lifts you up a bit later. the tone is always right and the game is just straight up my second favorite game of all times. -

Feb 15, 2018i will tell you something, be skeptical every time you see the critics really liking a movie or game, not always it is for everyone, this is a good example. This game is not bad, actually, but it is nothing espetacular. The gameplay is really boring and doesn't help you to engage the story. It is a really beautiful game tough and has a incredible soundtrack, but once again, it is not enough.

Mar 20, 2018Great game. Sure it's not for everyone but however enjoys classic plattformers with some new touches, great art and music and an enjoyable story should get this. I feel sorry for the haters that spent their money on it but more because they were not able to embrace Owlboy's beauty.

Aug 16, 2018Bought this at a sale on the eShop. It plays like crap and controls are idiotic!
Got stuck on the worm boss and, unless I'm missing some upgrades, I'm stuck there due to the **** stupid difficulty spike.
If I had to review it in one word: **** -

May 19, 2018Sad this game is not more well known because it has a very EPIC feel to it.
+ incredible pixel art
+ epic music
+ solid story with some good twists and turns
- questionable moments, like navigating dark tight spaces more than once
- a boss that is just a lag machine -
May 22, 2018Great game. Sure it's not for everyone but however enjoys classic plattformers with some new touches, great art and music and an enjoyable story should get this. The gorgeous music doesn't come far behind. This is one of the very few games whose soundtrack entered my Spotify albums list.

Jul 27, 2018Absolutely magical and stunning. Love the game. I wish it hadn't taken so long to come out, but now that its hear, I sat through it in one sitting. The characters are amazing, the graphics beautiful and the soundtrack is incredibly atmospheric. Big thumbs up

Sep 21, 2019Owlboy is almost perfect. Just a wonderful pixel art game with nice graphics. The animations and the story are absolutly nice to see and the music is just great. The control scheme is not that easy and its possible that your game can crash, but this isnt that often. I can recommend you this wonderful game, just buy it!

Oct 21, 2019An ok side scroller/metroivania. Most of the game exploration-wise is just decent but the boss fights were the real highlight here and helped make it a solid 7 for mine.

Apr 9, 2020Beautiful throwback graphics, endearing characters, and a touching and fairly deep story. The gameplay is interesting and fun. Damn that cannon mini-game though.

Sep 24, 2018Played through about 3 hours before I decided this wasn't a game for me
Pros:
- Early on it was a nice casual game
Cons:
- Controls felt poor
- I did not like not having a map
- Just generally thought this game was nothing special, I joked I wouldn't of thought this was good in 1985 -

Feb 21, 2020I love how this game looks, it has one of the best (if not the best) pixel art visuals I've ever seen, but unfortunately I didn't like gameplay or the story that much.

Aug 30, 2019Excellent game ! Worth the price. Musics are beautiful. If you like the 2D games, don’t hesitate!

Mar 4, 2020For some reason i struggled immensely to finish this game not for being hard but being so dam boring .
The pixel art is stunning but the game itself is very frustrating ,the world layout does not make sense.
it was a schlep to traverse from one part of the map to the next.
Controls was horrid on this game. -
Jun 13, 2020Lovely crafted, lovely looking yet only mediocre adventure-platformer, that I would really love to rate high, but it's story and gameplay couldn't attract me too much and I don't feel any urge to pick it up (plus, there are plenty alternatives out there, that feel way more statisfying to play, so why would I force myself into playing it, you know?).

Jun 16, 2022it's ok... cute art and interesting idea, but I don't know... it just keeps losing me. Whoever created it is good, but needed to spend more time making the playability a bit better I think.

Sep 6, 2022Owlboy is an absolute treasure! It captures the heart of the Gameboy Advance system, tosses in some Shantae and gives you a pirate adventure with a heart of gold!
This is one of my Top 10 games that most people overlook. -
Dec 10, 2022Nice looking puzzle platformer with beautiful soundtrack, cool story, characters and fun gameplay.

Jun 11, 2018Owlboy is amazing thanks to it's fantastic set of characters and an incredible world to explore. The game has beautiful pixel art and great dialogue that will make you laugh out loud. The only downside is that the game crashes for no reason sometimes.
-
Jun 1, 2018If you called Owlboy a piece of art, I would nod my head and agree wholeheartedly. This game, in visuals alone, is a masterful achievement. For those breath-taking visuals to be matched by equally beautiful characters and unique gameplay moments just elevates it even further. The beginning of the game is a bit too slow, and sometimes the gameplay was merely okay, but those are minor blemishes on a video game experience that is absolutely worth your time, and definitely worth the decade that it took to bring it to life.

May 7, 2018Too bad that the conversion for Switch brings some problems, as a scheme of commands not always intuitive and annoying crashes that could damage the enjoyment of the experience.
