For those looking for a challenging yet accessible platformer with deep mechanics and plenty of personality, there are few games that rival OlliOlli: Switch Stance. Whether you're a skateboarding junkie or haven't scaled a half-pipe in your life, Switch Stance is worth a place in your growing Switch library.

If you’ve never played OlliOlli or the follow up, you absolutely need to get this package that has both together. The music, level design, and animations are all superb. OlliOlli 2 is easily one of my favourite indie games of all time and I’m glad to have it on another platform.

OlliOlli: Switch Stance isn’t going to make you rethink anything you thought about them first time around — but if you thought they were great games back then, this package will serve as a nice reminder that they’re every bit as good as you may remember.

OlliOlli: Switch stance is an awesome combination of two great games and packed with fun content. If you’re a skateboarding fan or you just like a good sidescoller then you’ll definitely want to check this one out.

Overall, the combination of these two games will, without a doubt, keep you occupied for a while. A learning curve can be a barrier initially, but once you learn the ropes, you’ll just want to keep skating forever. Although the second game is the better of the two, the difference isn’t stark enough to warrant skipping out on the first. These both fit the textbook definition of perfect on-the-go games – while not the most visually impressive games out there, they are perfect for both quick bursts of fun or hours of intense focus and mastery.

OlliOlli: Switch Stance keeps the difficult yet satisfying gameplay of this indie hit intact as it makes its way to Nintendo’s newest console. As long as you’re prepared for a challenge, this is a pretty fun title. Though, a level creator would definitely have added to the package, especially with the Switch’s touchscreen.

Don’t let the simple aesthetic fool you, OlliOlli and its sequel are damn near flawless skateboarding games that hold up incredibly well in 2019. For one low cost, you get a super satisfying package that bundles two of the best high-score achieving games in recent memory. With a boatload of content and near endless replayability, OlliOlli: Switch Stance is an absolute must get on the Switch. Whether you’re a skater boi or not, olli ya’ll better pick this one up.

OlliOlli: Switch Stance is a title with a great gameplay, lots of levels and good challenges, which make it a highly recommended title for any player and totally essential for skate lovers.

The sequel ups the ante, with more stylish graphics and an ‘Olliwood’ cinema theme that sees you flicking and tricking your way through fantastical film sets and hilarious puns. More so, it introduces manuals that allow you to extend combos between jumps and grinds for more intricate – and rewarding – play. There’s even a multiplayer mode and a single trick mode to vary things up. Short levels, swift load times and addictive gameplay make this perfect for gaming on the go.

OlliOlli: Switch Stance fills the void left in the skateboarding genre rather nicely with its unique and rewarding trick system and snappy gameplay. The fact it’s a straightforward port with little in the way of extra content may disappoint returning players but for those craving something to fill that Tony Hawk-sized hole in their hearts this should do the job.

An inspired mix of skateboarding and 2D platforming that manages to combine a surprising level of realism with some enjoyably impossible level design.

This Switch port of both games doesn’t really offer anything new for those who have played either title to death before, but those who are yet to dive into an OlliOlli game will find themselves presented with a generous package that feels right at home on Switch.

OlliOlli: Switch Stance is a fantastic package, bringing one of the best short-burst arcade experiences of recent times to a platform where it can really thrive. It's nearly the perfect package for the uninitiated to hop onto their boards with. Existing fans, too, may be tempted to double-dip, considering how great this version is for on-the-go sessions. From a mechanical point of view, the extreme demands and difficulty may put some off. However, it's worth persevering through the inevitable moments of frustration, as underneath is a hugely addictive arcade hit for the modern age.

OlliOlli may be a tricky series to master but it's very rewarding to do so. Plus, this Switch Stance bundle is the best way to play it so far.

OlliOlli is one of those games you really have to live with; perseverance pays dividends, but so does taking a break and coming back in the morning to find muscle memory kicking in. Before you know it you’ll be grinding elegantly and racking up impressive points, but you need to stick with it. With the skateboarding genre largely on hiatus, this is an easy recommendation to newcomers with the patience to master it. This version doesn’t bring anything new to the table if you’ve played it before, but it’s a fine game in fine form on Switch.

OlliOlli: Switch Stance is a 2D skateboarding simulator that refuses to lie to its players. You will struggle and you will experience pain. It is going to be difficult, but if you can pull it off, it can be incredibly satisfying… even if the execution of such tricks involved a healthy heaping of dumb luck and/or divine intervention.

As much as OlliOlli Switch Stance brings back the greatness of these games, hopefully exposing them to a new audience on Switch, I hope it’s a gateway to seeing what Roll7 can come up with in a third game.

In the past years, I’ve seen the OlliOlli games multiple times and every time I felt they wouldn’t satisfy my Tony Hawk-like skateboardingIn the past years, I’ve seen the OlliOlli games multiple times and every time I felt they wouldn’t satisfy my Tony Hawk-like skateboarding urges. However, I really wanted some kind of skateboarding game on my Nintendo Switch so I got this game on sale.

OlliOlli: Switch Stance contains two games: OlliOlli and OlliOlli 2: Welcome to Olliwood. Both games have the same gameplay, where OlliOlli 2 added the manual as a trick to combine other tricks. You try to chain the most difficult tricks together to get your high score as high as possible. Also, the gameplay is far from realistic if it comes to trick combos, but that’s what makes these games so fun.

Expect to bail a lot. OlliOlli is all about timing and more than not, your timing is off causing you to smack your face into the ground. And if you think this will happen less when you get better at the controls, think again. The better you get, the more difficult combos you’ll try, causing you to bail even more. Luckily, there are no loading screens so with a simple button press you’ll spawn at the beginning of the stage.

The controls are really easy making the game easy to learn but hard to master. You gain speed by pressing A, do any trick by holding the left stick in a certain position and release it and press B at the moment you hit the ground to successfully land your trick/combo. That last part is the hardest and most punishing. If you forget to press B or press it too late, you land awkward and lose most of your trick/combo score.

OlliOlli 1 has a charming NES-like pixelated graphics style. OlliOlli 2 notches up the graphics to look more SNES-like. The character doesn’t have a lot of details but that’s okay because this game is about skateboarding. The combination of character + skateboard does the job really well. The movements are fluent and the tricks are all very recognizable and distinguished.

OlliOlli 2 looks better than OlliOlli 1 in my opinion. The Hollywood theme is very well designed and really suits the cartoony graphics style.

If you’re into skateboarding this game is great for a quick play while on the train or just at home on your couch. The Nintendo Switch is the perfect platform for this game. It really shines in handheld mode.
