    Gorgeous hand-drawn art.

    Short with no replay-value.
Too little interactions with the environment.

Old Man's Journey is a heartwarming story-driven tale where you need to connect with it to really enjoy this game. Sadly, gameplay wise, there won't be much to keep you hooked if this connection with the story and art does not happen.

Other than terrific artwork and serviceable story, Old Man's Journey doesn't have much to offer.
If you think artwork alone might be worth buying this game - get it for HALF the price for Android/Apple.

From one side I really enjoyed it. After reading some reviews I was expecting a super simple click-trough adventure game where I am just watching the story going forward. Never have I ever cried out in joy at the sight of a video game before, nevertheless, Old Man’s Journey made me do it (the first boat scene above). Sure it may be short, but for me that wasn’t a problem. It has a wonderful art style, a beautiful story and deceiving music making it well worth its price tag.

As an illustrator and artist, this game was a piece of a cake for me. Beautiful and sweet, but way too simple and a bit short for every player. Has this movie feeling that you get amazed during 2 hours but then... that's it. Get it just if you are into art, if not maybe is not that worthy.

An old man wanders back home to make amends with the daughter and wife he left behind in order to pursue a life of excitement and adventure. On the way he reflects upon his life, and we see the tragedy of his life unfold as he regrets the moment he left his family behind.

It's tragic subject matter that ends with a sweet moment of redemption, and it's apparent the developer was looking to pull heart strings, but I never needed to reach for a box of tissues.

It's an okay game, I won't dissuade anyone from checking it out.

you see where its going and you just never want it to get there..
but to get there as the name suggests you have to go on a bit of a journey.. this is where the puzzle comes into place..
its all about pulling different land masts to different heights so oyu can hop from one place to another and proceed to the next area or chapter…
every chapter rewarding you with a still of this mans past..
I didn’t quite find anything to be done interesting here with the game mechanics.. but I definitely enjoyed my experience with this game.. the art is beautiful, the story made me cry…
there were moments of fun.. but most of it was mild irritation of trying to figure out the a puzzle..
the game and the old man is not consistently responsive either… I would click to a spot on the screen and he would start walking in a different direction to a different point..
there was also a moment or two where I broke the game..
id click to a spot and the old man walked off screen to the past area and wouldn’t go back to the area I was supposed to be in, resulting in me having to back out and come back in..
frustrations aside though, this is an overall beautiful game that’s worth picking up for the heartstring pulling alone.
    I give Old Mans Journey
    a 7/10

The controls are soooo bad in dock mode. It's really strange and the title itself is very boring sadly. very disappointing.

You soon realize that the man left his family, so this made me curious about his journey. The ending took a surprising turn which almost made me teary, though I'm pretty sentimental anyway.

It's a pleasant, brief distraction for casual, calm puzzle-solving and eye candy, though you may tire of the puzzles. Worth it if you can get it on sale.

Old Man's Journey is one of a number of games that stand their own on mobile platforms, but don't translate well to the more exacting world of gaming consoles. It's just that Old Man's Journey is too obviously mobil-y to stand out from the droves of shovelware migrating from smartphones to Switches.

Like many popular mobile games, Old Man's Journey shines for its stylish presentation, with beautiful illustrations and atmospheric music. It's also a slice of good, emotional storytelling. Where the game shows its limits, however, is in the mechanics, that are thin and uninteresting. If this was an all-out story-based game, the gameplay would be barely serviceable–but the story isn't fleshed out enough for a story-based game, and the result is a bland puzzle based on a shallow idea that grows old within minutes.

Not that the game lasts much longer than that. I like short games, but this one doesn't seem to have enough content packed in its one or two hours of gameplay. You get a feeling that the game would be over in minutes if only the character didn't move at such a glacially slow pace. For a game that's twice as expensive on the Switch than it is on the iPhone, it's easy to reach the end with the feeling of having been overcharged.

The game is so slow and boring, the puzzles are tedious cause of how easy they are. Is just waisting your time for a 1 min history. But the history is good, the problem is that this is a game not a tell.

This game is totally chill and great as a wind down before going to bed. It’s easy, but just enough challenge to keep me engaged. The art, music and design creates a mellow space that I enjoyed spending time in. If you’re expecting a challenging brain-twister, look elsewhere. This game doesn’t try to be that either. It got a lot of heart and I was 100% satisfied by the end.

Beautiful charming story! It’s a lesson of life and treasuring what’s important: family. The old man learned it the hard way. But the message was a well presented. Visuals are also beautiful. Relaxing game

This game is somewhat reminiscent of that devastating scene in Up! where the main character's life plays out in a short montage. But the gameplay itself is somewhat uninspiring: the game was clearly developed for mobile/tablet screens rather than consoles, and little to nothing was done to make it translate to its new home on a console. Having the Switch's touchscreen is useful here, but then of course you are forced to play on the smaller screen. I preferred playing on a larger screen and so had to use a controller which was very awkward. The puzzles weren't especially challenging, apart from in one or two places where it wasn't at all clear what needed to happen. I still enjoyed the game though and glad I got to share this old man's journey. I don't see myself playing it again though. Expand

Highly recommended small game. The whole game can be finished within 3 hrs but it worth to buy because of the setup. The graphic is superb, the music is good as well, but a bit repetitive. The story is simple but beautifully. Packed with emotions about life. The puzzles are well balanced, not too easy/not too hard,so it's more likely a journey than a game.

DO NOT buy for switch, it’s completely unplayable. Before you play you have to wait way too long while your joystick gets used to something. I guess it’s own existence. Then you have to “orient the cursor” 2x which was tricky & annoying. But then it’s done right? No your pain has just begun. You have to do this EVERY time. I got so disgusted I gave up. Old Man's Journey is an interesting work with a captivating plot and a magnificent visual component that will immerse its players in a unique experience. Its lifespan may feel too short but the quality of the game's design and the challenges presented will be more than welcome by the players and make Old Man's Journey a game that has gained its place in the growing catalog of the Nintendo Switch.

Old Man’s Journey takes form as a simple and short point and click adventure, which doesn’t offer much variety when it comes to gameplay or puzzle design. Still, if a superb art style and poignant narrative is enough to keep you interested, then it’s definitely a worth acquisition.
