    The Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection definitely proves that there is still a place in the modern-day for Ryu Hayabusa. Just don’t go expecting a Halo: The Master Chief Collection-style package full of version comparisons and celebrations of Team Ninja’s mascot. Just think of it more like a scattered Super Mario 3D All-Stars type deal with far less effort involved.

    As rough as Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection is in places — and it’s very, very rough — it makes up for that by also being a whole lot of fun. I leave it up to you to decide exactly how much poor performance you’re willing to put up with to play a very enjoyable trilogy — because in this case, you’ve got to be willing to put up with quite a bit.

    Ninja Gaiden Master Collection consists of three great action titles in a collection made with the bare minimum of effort. For a historical series like Ninja Gaiden, it is a shame that we haven’t received a product that is worthy of the legacy that these titles have built.

    Ninja Gaiden Sigma 1 & 2 rock and are arguably better games for their age that are best experienced with a Pro controller or even a beefier platform, just ignore Razor’s Edge.

    Bare minimum ports with performance issues they may be, but Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection is a most welcome release that hopefully fuels the flame for a fourth in the 3D series. The lack of polish or any real noteworthy adjustments or additional content, as well as the third game losing its way following the first two great entries, put a dampener on the package, but there is still good value for money here that fans of challenging games will do well to check out.

    The Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection is a no-holds barred, hack and slash experience that offers fun and challenge in equal measure. It isn’t perfect, but it really doesn’t need to be. Just enjoy it for what it is, as it was intended.

    Despite lacking the fanfare you might expect for a celebration of a beloved franchise, The Master Collection does finally allow more players to experience these distinctly unique action titles. Be sure to play in docked mode for the best performance and ideally grab yourself a pro-controller to better handle a superb core combat experience. Ninja Gaiden might have aged in a few ways, but its mastery of the blade remains undeniable.

    Overall, Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection is fairly whelming and often aggravating. For those looking to replay one or all of these titles, it may be better to buy the original titles on their own, simply because the quality of the Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection experience doesn't match its price tag, while those who don't mind the cost will find only a serviceable group of titles in a series that had produced much better.

    Ninja Gaiden Master Collection definitely has an appeal, and the excellent conversion job behind Ninja Gaiden Sigma creates high expectations for what comes next. Unfortunately the conversions of Sigma 2 and Razor's Edge fall way below expectations, with an appalling performance and erratic screen resolution, which makes the games often appear worse than they should be. On top of that, no improvements were done on Razor's Edge original formula and despite the additional content, this compilation feels like a botched effort whose only asset is the very good work done on the first game of the trilogy.

    Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection gets off to a promising start on Switch with a decent port of Ninja Gaiden Sigma that performs well in both docked and handheld modes. However, as soon as you boot up parts two and three it's all downhill, with dynamic resolution resulting in a pixelated mess in places as the frame rate consistently struggles to keep up with the action. All we needed here was a solid, no-frills port and this collection would have been an instant recommendation. As things stand, it's a disappointing experience that needs patching ASAP and should be the last version you opt for if you've got the choice to play elsewhere.

    Great game . Like the one in PS3 . 3 in 1 . Very fun for hack ‘n’ slash fans .

    I would and always will say if your reason for disliking these games is difficulty then you are a massive wuss, if all you want is a shallowI would and always will say if your reason for disliking these games is difficulty then you are a massive wuss, if all you want is a shallow ass multiplayer rea shooter then no one asked you if you like it easy, shut up! Real gamers and real Gaymers (like me) alike if you love games or you are really truly into gaming with nary a care in the world for difficulty don’t you dare miss these games, they (even in their less qualified & less worthy Sigma forms) are never not going to be three of the greatest gaming experiences you will ever have. If you walk away crying about the difficulty then you can’t possibly be a real Gamer (or Gaymer like me… again) real games are for the hardcore, Zelda games know this, Souls Born’s know this, Old School Shooters and Old School-like Shooters know this real games know that a game without challenge is dog crap and these are two of the best and one of the okay-est because of that, Ninja Gaiden 1 & 2 are a couple of my all time faves because they aren’t for wusses they don’t skimp on the gore (even the sigma versions even if they did get toned down) and they don’t slow down, they ramp up and they build up and then (once you get the hang of it) give you a good release of tension and you feel so much relief your hurrah’s reach top end. You kicked ass and you can go find another game to take a break from it all… (I guess you appreciate that New Pokemon Snap now, don’t you). I grew up real went to bed real and ate real when these were a thing and now, everyone and everything else is drab and artificial by comparison. If you have cojones I am not talk about balls, but spine. I am talking intestinal fortitude not weak sauce whipped ass crap that you need only flick to cause a weak man to fall down. Real gamers the ones who put up with it all, we’re women and we kick a lot of ass just to remind you again who the boss is. Pain in the ass wimps rating this low are all of the reasons it takes a whole village to have actual brain power, fortunately and let’s tell it straight I don’t have to lift a finger to tell you I’m a woman and I still beat the first two with trouble but not as much trouble as the weak turds playing COD, NO, I play real games, classics from the 90s are great even some late 80s games are great but something newer age gamers will never understand is the sheer thrill we get from this and that’s why it is and shall forever be A TEN OUT OF TEN!!!… Full Review »
