Jul 13, 2020Although relatively simple in its approach and execution, Night Call is a brilliant, stylish, and deeply intriguing example of how a narrative investigation game should be delivered on the Nintendo Switch.

Jun 29, 2020Night Call may draw you with its murder mysteries, but you’ll keep playing to learn about its numerous, interesting characters. It’s incredibly well written, if a bit pretentious in the best way. Unfortunately, it’s numerous glitches may frustrate players too much to keep playing.

Jun 30, 2020Night Call works best when it allows us to relax and enjoy discovering the little stories hidden in Paris, some darker than others, and some even surreal and funny. The story and characters keep us engaged it is a highly recommended game for lovers of narrative experiences.

Jul 9, 2020While the plot may not be as riveting and the player may feel like they’re guessing more than sleuthing, Night Call presents wonderful short stories featuring a bountiful cast of characters who share their lives with you. The unfortunate side to this is that it means the main serial killer plot takes the backseat on this one. Despite its numerous technical glitches, Night Call leaves a strong impression and I’m positive that with a couple of improvements it will definitely rise above.

Jul 11, 2020Night Call has an unusual formula - it's not an orthodox adventure game, it's not quite a visual novel either, but it has elements of both, all set against a Parisian noir aesthetic that goes along perfectly with its premise. Funnily enough, Night Call can be more enjoyable as a literary piece than as an interactive game and while it will not be everyone's cup of tea, this effort is definitely rewarding for those who look into the characters' backgrounds and personal stories.

Jun 28, 2020In its current form, Night Call feels like a great short story collection trapped in a video game. All the petty distractions and police work get in the way of the real joys of chatting about how much life sucks under a full moon.
-
Jul 15, 2020Night Call ultimately feels like it’s missing something crucial to tie it all together. I think the game would’ve been better if it really was just about driving around Paris getting to know these people who are living out their everyday lives. The mystery-solving is half baked, and the fact that you can’t carry the stories of your passengers forward into future cases just makes me wish the mystery wasn’t there at all. I really did love the conversations I had with the game’s diverse cast, but in the end I was just left frustrated that I wouldn’t be able to see them through to their end without slogging through a lot of stuff I’d already seen.
