So, Nickelodeon All Star Brawl is a fair game in the end. While it can be fun, there are some flaws that can hold it back but overall, this is a fair smash clone that has potential.

A good game overall, personally I have two gripes I hope get worked on. 1 In offline play on the switch, your controls don't always get saved when someone else becomes player 1 after a match. 2 The online connection is a good bit worse than the pc version.

This game is an amazing Smash-like with great characters, but I really wish there was more casual modes. Competitively it could rival Rivals or even Melee. But for a game about children’s cartoons I would like expect more then just Online quickly and arcade mode for the causals. Also the load times kinda linger.

Most of what I've experienced in this game is well done. The starting roster feels good and the game itself is easy to learn but hard to master. It definitely feels that it took a heavy inspiration from Smash Bros, in the good way off course. The gameplay is smooth and the online is really good. But there's some lack of polish. But unfortunately, the game is not polished quite yet. WhileMost of what I've experienced in this game is well done. While the characters are known and iconic, they don't feel real in this game. They could receive some love here. Overall, I'm enjoying this game and glad that Smash Bros will have some competition, but I'm hoping that this is not all that this game has to offer and some updates will be done to make it even better. I honestly see myself playing this more often than Ultimate. The very idea of the game is funny and pretty interesting. To start, it's full of characters that people know and love, and it's even giving future characters more attention. The characters themselves feel believable and authentic, even if Nigel didn't necessarily have to be on the roster. Honestly, though, the voices kinda sound like they tried a little too hard, but they're not awful. The victory background is also kinda...plain, but hopefully they might add something to make it stand out more. I think one of the biggest things the game is missing is final smashes for the characters. Each character has something they can do for a final smash, and I hope the developers add them when they get the chance. I don't care if this game isn't the "Smash killer"; I'm just happy to try it. While it still has some bland parts here and there, I'd still suggest it to anyone who wants something new, even if it is pretty small. Expand

This is one of those titles you walk into with at least a twinge of dread as a reviewer. The thing is, if you don’t spend all of your time picking it apart, and if you really love some of these classic Nickelodeon characters, you can still have a reasonably good button-mashing time with it. I think the biggest weaknesses for me are the lack of items to keep the middling fighting from being so easily apparent and the problems with glitchiness I ran into, which can be really aggravating in some specific stages in particular. That said, my daughter, who grew up with many of these characters, still had a blast and laughed as she’d beat me up with random animated characters in their various color-splashed cartoon levels. Depending on the crowd, things like roster depths and long-standing Nintendo lore don’t have as much pull, nostalgia and familiarity can win. For those people, this will likely be a bit of fun, just be realistic about its limitations going in.

A very much unfinished platform fighter that shows a bit of promise on the competitive side of things.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is a fighting game with platform elements that delivers a simple but fun experience, drawing from Nickelodeon's rich character list, and gives the fans an engaging but accessible fighting system. Its performance needs improvement, though, as fluidity problems become too common, and there could have been a greater effort to go into Nickelodeon's catalogue, especially when it comes to the audio environment. A package of fun action that's mostly directed at Nickelodeon animation fans.

A lot of the game feels like a rough draft, but it's simplistic enough for families to jump into for a quick match and have a lot of fun. Just don't expect to spend a ton of time with it. [Issue #56 – November/December 2021, p. 70]

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl almost feels as if it was sold on the sheer premise of reviving Melee with Nickelodeon characters. On the fighting end, it mostly succeeds, but due to a lack of polish, cut corners and just a cheap feel, I’m skeptical how long this game can keep your attention. Yes, the sheer hilarity of seeing Patrick Star beat up CatDog is still funny, but I don’t think the lifespan of this game will increase over time. Watching all these fighters silently duke it out makes it feel like we’re watching storyboards for a singular crossover episode. While that may entice you into watching the commercials, the final product just leaves all these popular properties feel compromised.
