It was my first game from Naruto franchise and it was a good experience. The competence of plot conversion from manga to the game was great. Fights on the other hand were really good (smoother in sequels, but nonetheless good) with some missing hit boxes but overall nice game, that convinced me to play the sequels. Expand

It definitely has something the other Ultimate Ninja Storm games have and I am loving it.

It starts in an open world space which you will be stuck the whole time, but the more you collect scrolls in the open map and the more mini treasure hunts you do, the more available chakra you will gain, which will make your ninja jumping experience a lot like the one from the actual anime. I grew up with Naruto and especially in the first part of the series I was hooked by the idea of jumping around from one building to the other, well, in this game that dream of doing that became a reality. In addition to that, you also have two different days of challenges within a missing: chasing in the forest and reaching the top of the tree challenge. Those are really fun and can sometimes be extremely challenging which throws something different to the mix of your usual 1 v 1 battle.

The battle system is as good as in the other Ultimate Ninja Storm games, probably not as fluid as 3 or 4 and the one thing I liked was that you can't actually spam with ultimate jutsu and hit it all the time, you also have to put some effort into that by tying he keys on the screen, so a bit more complexity there, which it can seem difficult at first for beginners but you begin to miss it in future Naruto games.

The only thing I would have wanted to see in this game is an update on more things to do in the open world, although the amazing feeling you are getting from jumping around like a real ninja, once you finish the story missions, unless you want to 100% it, you don't have much motivation to stick around apart from jumping around and enjoy the scenery.

Also, I would have wanted to see more bosses fights, I feel there could have been more and more complex like in Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 or 4.

I just want to end it with, it brings you joy playing in the world our childhood heroes grew up in.

Some titles grow graceful with age, but others fall by wayside, and, unfortunately, this is a pure example of the latter. This is not to say that Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm does not have redeemable qualities. The foundations of a great fighting franchise were laid in this iteration through its innovative control scheme, but outside of this, it's a pretty unremarkable game, where the positives are too few and far between to recommend in 2018, especially when the latter entries better the fighting formula and are priced the same.
