You choose from a list of cars, race on a list of courses, and set the music to each race. You do not race other players or NPC's.
Cars: You start off with a few unlocked cars, with a bunch of unlockable cars that you can scroll through, with their unlock amounts. No real $$ to unlock, all in-game currency. You can also change the color of your cars between a scale of vibrant colors and shades. There are also 2 bikes, a bird, and a Santa car to unlock (not a spoiler)
Courses: You can choose to race on a scrollable list of courses, which (like the cars) have a few that are able to be unlocked.
Course Modes:
- Standard: You race to collect as many light-cubes as possible before the song ends, without hitting any obstacles.
- Vibe: The same as Standard, but all obstacles are removed. This does not increase or decrease the amount of light-cubes obtainable.
- Cinematic: Your car drives on the course while you rotate the camera to take pics
- Hard: Like Standard, but with more obstacles.
Light-Cubes: This is the currency of the game. You collect these by running them over on the courses. The layout of the light-cubes on the course are dependent of the song you pick. So, there are as many different ways to play one course, as there are songs to race to. Depending on the course, some light-cubes fall from the sky, (so you can anticipate that lane they will end up in), while others are presently laid out already. 1 light-cube = 1 currency. You can use the in game currency to unlock vehicles and courses. All songs and car colors/shades are unlocked.
Music: Once you choose the course, you are brought to a list of music to race to. there are a fair amount of songs (less than 100?) with majority of them related to New Retro Wave beats (fast and slow).
Options: You can choose to have a sfx play when you collect a light-cube, but I found that the sound does not always correlate with the rhythm of the song. You can also choose to increase, or decrease, the amount of "camera-shake" when the intense parts of the songs hit. There is also a language setting, camera distance setting, and blur setting. I race with the camera zoomed out at a max distance of 3. The camera distance ranges from 1 to 3, and is on an incremental scale that increases by 0.1.
I work a ton, and found this game is a fun mindless escape to enjoy for a few songs after work. There is no pressure of finishing first/last. Just play, enjoy, and collect light-cubes.… Expand
