A decklike roguebuilder that was abandoned by the developer long before this terrible Switch port. Contains multiple gamebreaking bugs including one (that has been around since 2017 in the PC version with no fix by the devs and was ported to the Switch version) that makes it unable to progress, forcing you to delete all save data and start again. The game interface itself is terrible too,A decklike roguebuilder that was abandoned by the developer long before this terrible Switch port. Contains multiple gamebreaking bugs including one (that has been around since 2017 in the PC version with no fix by the devs and was ported to the Switch version) that makes it unable to progress, forcing you to delete all save data and start again. The game interface itself is terrible too, with StS convenience features entirely absent, like being able to check your deck and items while deciding whether to buy or choose something. Balance sucks, with several inexplicable changes made to the PC version of the game. Block remains at the end of the turn, cards are changed to be much worse or less interesting, some characters are overpowered, others underpowered, altar choices are 90% completely unhelpful. Helper characters abilities can only be used every few battles. There is no way to hover effects to see what they do or check enemy discard piles, no way to equip items as you pick them up or see what they do, and there are severe framerate issues. This game served only to remind me why StS is rated so highly. Do not buy, or buy the PC version. Expand

Most of the choices here are pulled from games that have come before it, so it ends up feeling like a mish-mash of good choices other developers have made. The visual style, though still fine-looking, feels uninspired and, again, recycled from other games from equally equipped developers. That said, the game isn’t much of an investment, so if you’re looking for something solid but not revolutionary, this could be the game for you.

Monster Slayers is a fun and deep adventure that lets the player decide how they want to approach it. Even with a complex battle system, the harsh difficulty curve may be enough to turn many players off once they’ve completed the first dungeon. At the end of the day, the sheer joy of building a deck that suits your own playstyle is what makes this game special. Monster Slayers is one game not to overlook, if you’re even remotely interested.
