Un juego increíble que de bueno que es, no se siente que haya envejecido nada, aunque venga de gamecube. La edición de switch es increíble, una remasterización que es una clase de como remasterizar un juego.

However, even having a good time revisiting it, i wished that some modern videogames quality of life mechanics, like fast travels, were incorporated as well, to speed up the game flow. Can be very annoying to move from room to room, and have to deal with some boring enemies like the Chozo Ghosts, that keeps respawning all the time. Also, there's no way to add marks on the map, to help us remember to look for items that at first we couldn't picked up. Such simple additions, but would make the gameplay so much better. Great game anyways. Expand

    Incredible remaster.
One of the best game ever made, just as we remember about it, but in 2023.
I'm still crying at the music menu.
Nintendo and Retrostudio haven't just nailed it. They made a potential contender for the 2023 GOTY with a 2002 game.

So far so good - but I noticed 2 annoying things:
    1) projectile doest cast light - as I could read it was in original game - it would be very helpful in dark parts of game - its the biggest issue in this remaster
    2) sorry - Ive never played Metroid games - but music is just terrible. Fortunately there is a slider to change volume - "feature" not very often avaiable in Nintendo games.

The game not only holds up to this day, but it can still stand above the games of today! This is by far my favorite game of all time, and I am so happy to be able to play it like this! Metroid Prime, originally released for the Nintendo GameCube and later enhanced for the Wii, is a groundbreaking title that redefines the first-person adventure genre. Developed by Retro Studios, this critically acclaimed installment revitalized the Metroid franchise, offering players a fresh perspective and an unforgettable journey through the mysterious world of Samus Aran. Join me as I delve into the immersive experience of Metroid Prime and discover why it remains a timeless classic.

    Graphics and Atmosphere:
Metroid Prime boasts impressive visuals that push the limits of the GameCube hardware. The game presents a seamless blend of detailed environments, atmospheric lighting, and hauntingly beautiful art design. From the ancient ruins of Chozo architecture to the eerie depths of alien landscapes, each location exudes a sense of isolation and foreboding. The attention to detail is exceptional, creating an immersive atmosphere that draws players into the hauntingly atmospheric world of Metroid Prime.

    Gameplay and Exploration:
Metroid Prime successfully transitions the Metroid series into a first-person perspective while retaining its core exploration-focused gameplay. As Samus Aran, players navigate through labyrinthine environments, uncovering hidden passages, acquiring new abilities, and battling menacing creatures. The controls are smooth and intuitive, allowing for precise aiming and seamless platforming. The game cleverly incorporates scanning technology, encouraging players to investigate their surroundings and discover the rich lore of the Metroid universe.

    Sound Design and Music:
The audio design in Metroid Prime is a testament to its atmospheric brilliance. The ambient sounds, haunting melodies, and atmospheric cues enhance the sense of immersion, immersing players in the desolate and mysterious world. The soundtrack is masterfully composed, seamlessly blending atmospheric tones with adrenaline-pumping tracks during intense encounters. The iconic Metroid themes make appearances, adding a nostalgic touch for long-time fans of the series.

    Story and Lore:
Metroid Prime weaves a captivating narrative that adds depth to the Metroid universe. The game explores the enigmatic origins of the Space Pirates and delves into Samus Aran's personal history, providing players with a deeper understanding of her motivations. The environmental storytelling, supplemented by log entries and scanned artifacts, unveils a rich lore that immerses players in the Metroid mythos. The narrative progression is engaging and keeps players invested in uncovering the secrets of the world.

    Legacy and Impact:
Metroid Prime's impact on the gaming industry cannot be overstated. Its seamless integration of exploration, puzzle-solving, and first-person shooting mechanics set a new standard for the genre. The game's success led to a highly regarded trilogy, with Metroid Prime becoming one of the most beloved and influential franchises in gaming history. Its innovative gameplay, atmospheric presentation, and engaging narrative continue to inspire game developers and captivate players to this day.

    Conclusion:
Metroid Prime is a masterpiece that combines stellar graphics, immersive gameplay, atmospheric audio design, and a captivating narrative. Its fusion of exploration, puzzle-solving, and intense combat sets it apart as a timeless classic. Whether played on the GameCube or the enhanced Wii version, Metroid Prime remains an essential experience for fans of the franchise and a benchmark for the first-person adventure genre.

This is my first time playing Metroid Prime and I always wanted a remake on Switch so I could play it. And I loved this game a lot. You really lose yourself in this world.

The visuals are greatly improved and are stunning. One of the best looking games on Switch. The controls are also very smooth.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Metroid Prime Remastered is perhaps my least favourite game out of the trilogy, and I realized that while playing the remaster. It's still a fantastic game imo, but it's just not as enjoyable to me as the other two. Here are a few reasons why:

The early game of Metroid Prime is fantastic. Up until you find the wave beam I think the game is a blast. Starting there however, it strats to dip in quality a little bit. Changing between beams is not intuitive at all. You have to hold the X button and then use the directional buttons. Not only is that bad, but it also takes a little bit too long to switch beams, I wish it were more snappy. But right afterwards comes the, imo, worst section of the game - the Phendrana Labs. I really don't like this section, both because it's extremely repetitive, with several identical rooms, but also because it's the first and mostly only location in the game that forces you to use the thermal visor for long periods of time. The thermal visor makes me feel sick tbh. I just don't iike to use it. Every time I taverse this section I just want it to end as soon as possible.

Another thing I dislike about this game are the endgame multi-coloured enemies. Starting with the Phazon Mines, you will find troopers and later Metroids that are only vulnerable to a certain beam. This annoys me because, like I mentioned earlier, it's a slog to change beams, but also because some beams are worse than others. Once you get the plasma beam, the final beam in the game, you won't want to use any other beams, because it's the best one. By that point in the game, the power beam especially is really obsolete, and you will feel very powerless when facing these enemies with the power beam. The ice beam is strong, but it's the slowest one in the game and it's also not the best solution, and the wave beam is also lackluster at that point.

This problem segways into another problem I have with the Metroid series as a whole, with Metroid Prime probably being the game where that is most noticeable - there is no need to fight.
Enemies don't give you anything other than health drops or missile drops. But you only need health and missiles to fight, so why fight in the first place? If it's fun then it's ok, but when it's not fun it becomes a slog. If there was an experience system or equipment system similar to Castlevania or other metroidvanias, I would find an excuse for combat, but as it is there is none, so I find myself fleeing from most encounters towards the end of the game.

The final problem I have with the game is that some boss battles are just poorly designed. The hive totem is boring, the Omega Pirate is really annoying if you don't know what you're doing. It regenerates health, blocks your projectiles and turns invisible. On top of that, it spawns those pesky multi-coloured troopers, that I find myself just ignoring during this fight. Ridley is also not the best since he spends way too much time in the air, I feel like I'm facing Rathalos in the first two gens of MH. And the Metroid Prime is similar to the Omega Pirate.

At the end of the day, even though I complained heavily about this game, I still think it's great. I'm giving it an 8 because most of my complaints are just nitpicks, but the game definitely has some issues that prevent it from becoming a masterpiece.

Although the game has updated controls and this is for sure the best way to play Metroid Prime, I feel like the game is not perfect, but still really good

It was not only a game that showed off the potential of the little purple cube but also expanded what a player could expect from the genre and the new found Retro Studios. It still is to this day a shining achievment in atmosphere, gameplay, graphics and sound design.
And yet some how Retro Studios saw to breaking the usual mold of a traditional visually enhanced re release to instead rebuild the games visuals completely in a new engine.
All other aspects are largely the same and still deserve top scores as they have aged incredibly well but the visuals and new control options have guarenteed this game it everlasting place as one of the greatest games of all time. Now accessable to more gamers than ever before. Visually there are few games on the switch and even from the other more powerful competition that exhibit such intricate attention to details. Some details being a testament to the original development and some all new details of exquisite nature. New or old everything has been re lit, re textured or remodeled.
When you first land on Talon 4's surface you are imidiatly great but the thick humid atmoshere redesigned to be even more dense than ever. You will experience rain flowing off your suit contextually. Whether aiming up, down or level. There is an animation for it all.
We are far from where there details end. Your visor which helps to immerse you into the role of Samus Aran will have a number of animations occur to give further depth to her visor. Such as steam from volcanic areas, moisture from waterfalls, gore from exterminated creatures, liquid run off from emerging from a body of water and even her face reflected in the face of explosions. It is truely a marvel taking on this role as it isnt a traditional action oriented ordeal. Quite litteraly it is a Metroidvania in First Person making it one of the most unique games in the genre and in gaming history. You will take on enemies as you venture deep into Talon 4's belly uncovering her many secrets in an effort to understand the state of the planet, its inhabitants and what part you have been chosen to play.
This is a one of a kind game that has been made even more perfect than its original release because of incredible control options and visual changes that rival even the current gen of consoles. It should not be missed by anyone looking to show off what the switch can do, any FPS fan or any Metroidvania fan but Im sure there are others out there that would be taken by the experience for different reasons.
Last point before I go. Huge fan of water physics and the first game was lovely and known for the ripples. Sadly Trilogy took it out. They are back and better than ever. Find a small body of water(certain bodies of water show this better than others) and use your charge shot or charged ice shot and shoot near an edge. You will notice that the ripples dont just go outward from the blast point but that the bounce off walls. I had never seen anything quite like it. Truly this game just kept blowing me away! Buy it!

The dual analog controls make a huge difference in gameplay. The soundtrack is almost completely intact from the original, which is fine and good. The game just has some of the best atmosphere of any game ever made. As others have mentioned, the backtracking can be annoying at times, and probably adds a few hours to the whole game, but it can be enjoyable anyway because you get to use your new abilities to traverse those areas again. Figuring out how to transport between each area can be tricky. It would have been nice if Samus can warp to her ship or something, at a minimum.

The only reason I won't give this game a 10 is because some aspects of it have not aged well. Although the graphics are decent for today's standards, you can still tell that the general design of objects and environments are outdated. The environments are compact for today's standards and the game progresses quite fast. Special items are just waiting in a room to be found, which is kind of funny. The game relies on save points for saving the game and there are only 14 of them in the entire game.

The environments looking more organic and alive than ever before. Especially Magmoor Caverns and the Tallon Overworld take the most profit from the new textures and the details, they where added. The raindrops are falling back when you hold your weapon up and they are falling in front, when you hold your weapon down. The lava is pulsing and when you are come close to it, you can now see a strong heat haze, which was not be in the original. So you can now visually feel the heat in this region,

Sound is great as it was on original release and manages to create a deep, immersive experience, which fits the environment perfectly.

The different control options are awesome and the new "modern" twin-stick FPS-Controls works great, however there is one little complain I have. The switch between the beams is a bit annoying and has not the same flow like the original classic control scheme.

in my opinion the classic control is the perfect way to play it even today, because this game was originally designed with this control scheme in mind. Sure it is different from modern standards, but you can get used to it quickly and this is exactly the reason, the tutorial level at the beginning was designed for.

However, one advantage of the modern control is, that you have a quicker movement, which makes the situations where you have to backtrack not feeling that much of an issue, than it was before.

The level design is simply perfect and even the points where you have to backtrack are filled with power ups as a reward, so it never gets annoying.

In my eyes this game can positively stand out even today, because of its originality. There is no other game like it, even the two sequels are way different compared to Metroid Prime.

Last but not least is Metroid Prime Remastered a Remaster of an all-time classic as it should be. A Remaster like this should be the standard and not the exception.

For these reasons it still get a 10 out 10 from my perspective.

Metroid Prime is a really good game on its own merits, and to me it’s like comparing apples and oranges. Yes, both games are puzzle heavy, but that’s pretty much where the similarities stop. An opinion isn’t gonna help someone learn more about the game itself enough to buy it. Think: are people trying to decide between Metroid Prime Remastered and Skyward Sword HD? Probably not. They’re either in the mood for a cartoonish Zelda or for a sci-fi shooter aka apples and oranges. All that’s really happening is a dump on Skyward Sword, and that isn’t going to give Metroid Prime the love it deserves.

The primary difference in MPR from the original is graphics. It also has improved FPS (because surprise, the Switch is a better console than the Gamecube) which was mostly noticeable going *between* rooms. The control scheme isn’t anything groundbreaking. I get that it’s only $40, but there’s no way that a game that won GOTY in its time won’t cost full price in future releases. It’s a smart marketing strategy to encourage people to get involved with Metroid. Skyward Sword HD had several mechanics changed to remove annoying parts out of the game including the previously mandatory motion controls. It looks much cleaner and it runs at 60 FPS. I would be miserable going back to the original. MPR for the most part runs smoothly, except for one room over by the spider ball boss where it ran SO slowly it was running worse than Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (the game had high graphics, beetles popping out of the ground, and electric bombs dropping in the background. It was the only issue I ran into in my playthrough, so it wasn’t too big of a deal). It took me like two minutes to run ten steps! So no, even though I love the game, it isn’t the “best” remaster ever. It’s simply a really good game remastered. It's fine to dislike Skyward Sword, but it’s a different game. And if SS HD’s really that bad of a game, do you really want it to be compared to games you love like it’s on the same level? That said, I’d take Samus’s scanner over Fi any day of the week.

Metroid excels (compared to other Nintendo games) at tight controls. It also has a higher difficulty. I remembered it being harder than it is, so don’t feel intimidated from trying the game. Metroid Prime as a game can be covered in three categories: puzzles, platforming, and exploration. It fluidly moves from one area to the next using those three things. Expect to spend around 20 hours on your first playthrough.

This should be the gold standard of Remastered games.
They took something that was already rather good and updated it with better graphics and controls.

It does lose 1 point bc my go to sequence break for this game is no longer do able. They must have used the players choice version of the game instead of the first release. Not a big deal but still a point to bring up.

Even after all these years, playing this remaster evokes feels that no other modern AAA title provides.

By the way, for those of you worried that MP4 is going to be "similar" in scope, size, and graphics can relax - the reason MP4 development is so extensive is because they are developing the tools and game engine to maximize the game's use of the Switch hardware. If any one knows Nintendo and Retro Studio's track record, you know they will go all out.

A great remaster of an absolute classic.

Metroid Prime is one of the greatest Gamecube games and one of the best games of that generation. It’s great to see it get a quality remaster for old fans to revisit it and so new players can jump in easily. They did an excellent job with this remaster by taking an already good looking game that was still holding up well after all this time and making it look beautiful. The game works perfectly too. They also added new control options without getting rid of the old controls. One thing to keep in mind though is this is a Gamecube game so it was made within the limitations of that time and hardware. Not that it really matters as I still enjoyed this more than the majority of current games but it’s still worth remembering when going into Metroid Prime remastered.

Metroid Prime is one of those games that can be hard to put down after starting it. The exploration is so satisfying and enjoyable. Every time you find a new ability it triggers your memory of all the things you went past that can now be reached/unlocked. The exploration is also elevated so much by the atmosphere, beautiful visuals and great soundtrack. The environments are a joy to become familiar with and all the small details, like reflections and moisture on the visor, add so much. Combat is good with a variety of great looking enemies to dispatch. There is also a good variety of weapons at your disposal, once unlocked, that you are regularly forced to switch between. Things really work well when faced with a small number of different creatures. There are some puzzles to solve too and the developers trusted players to pay attention to the environment and use the tools available. There is plenty of scanning to do and lore to discover which adds another layer of depth to the experience.

Metroid Prime does have some things to nitpick though. First of all I think the design could be a little tighter or the locations more interconnected to reduce backtracking slightly. It is also on the smaller/shorter side and could have benefited from one more location. I think most first time players will probably finish it in around 11 to 13 hours. On top of this, while it is definitely worth revisiting, it doesn’t have a lot of immediate replayability. You could try for 100% or do a different difficulty but Metroid Prime could be a one weekend game for many people. It does lack a little in challenge and the enemy AI could be better. Another thing is that some of the bosses don’t take quite enough damage which means the fight drags on a tad too long. However none of this brings down the whole experience too much.

Metroid Prime is a beautiful, fantastic game with very minor faults and this is a really well done remaster. I hope Metroid Prime 2 can get the same remaster treatment soon too. Metroid Prime Remastered is a must own Switch game. If you’ve never played this before then go grab yourself copy, this is one of the greats.

New effects don't stray from the original vision, but actually bring the GameCube game to today's standards. Metroid Prime Remastered is one of the best looking games on the Switch and a master class about atmosphere forged by superb soundtrack and art design.

Although its general level design is still quite fun and immersive, the last third of the game put the player in unecessary and confusing backtracking. It was acceptable in the 2000s, and even forgetful in the middle of this awe-inspiring 3D adventure, the first Metroid since 1994, but feels unengaging in 2023. Prime's combat is also lackluster, specially with Space Pirate encounters. The combination of numb combat interactions and uneventful pacing hurt the overall arc of Samus in Prime: our hero should turn from a solitary weak combatant to a resourceful one woman army, just what happens in Metroid Dread; sadly, traversing feels slow and unintuitive in the latter part of Prime when you should feel the most powerful. Still, a must play and a classic.

Pretty solid game. There are parts, that can get a bit tedious, but from my experience, its a really fun action adventure game.

The game took me back in the days playing on my cousin's gamecube ,I was never a big nintendo fan but metroid prime is one of my favorite fps games of all time while also offering a great 3rd person gameplay.

Perfection. It was in 2002 and it is in 2023.

Retro really knows what they're doing- even if they had none of the original team working on this remaster, they certainly do a fabulous port.

The design is AMAZING, the puzzles in the game are perfect, they're intuitive and the design of the game leads you to the next part without even noticing that the game led you, it is te PERFECT example of how the 3D METROIDVANIA genre sould be

This is an excellent remaster that preserves a classic game and makes it highly playable by modern standards. It also confirms that Metroid Prime remains as special a title as ever.

Game makers: take note. Metroid Prime Remastered is a masterclass in how to modernize a masterpiece. Twenty years after the series made the transition to 3D, this remains a classic that has stood the test of time. The updated visuals prove that with some optimization and visual tricks, the Switch is really capable of delivering great games. In fact, this is one of prettier – if not the prettiest –Switch games to date.

A classic returns in Metroid Prime Remastered. A complete visual overhaul makes the world of the game look better and more detailed than ever before. A new dual-stick control scheme makes the game approachable and palatable for new players, while veterans can opt for controls that mimic the original. Underneath it all, though, the masterpiece that is Metroid Prime Remains unchanged. Some more quality of life improvements could perhaps have been made, but it is a tiny complaint for a near-perfect remaster.
