Muy buen juego deportivo, con una gran jugabilidad y apartado artístico, sin embargo, está carente de contenido y se hace muy aburrido con el paso de las horas. Le falta mucho para ser lo que debería.

Theres fun to be had with this game but there is no single player content what so ever so if you aren't buying this to play with other people don't waste your money. Even then, what is in the game on the multi player side certainly isn't worth full price. The control scheme is also overly complicated and the computer AI for the goalies is pretty terrible. Mario Strikers: Battle League is a fun game that unfortunately has little to no content to offer. The multiplayer and online aspects of the game are fun and they are what makes the game somewhat enjoyable, as of now.
Like Mario Tennis Aces and Mario Golf Super Rush, this will bring free DLC to expand on what is available and with that the game will, hopefully, be worth the 60$ price tag

Like Mario Tennis Aces and Mario Golf Super Rush, this will bring free DLC to expand on what is available and with that the game will, hopefully, be worth the 60$ price tag because as of now it feels like (at maximum) a 20$ game or even a free to play game.
The mechanics are quite deep in this new entry to the franchise and you'll need some time to get used to it but once you get used to it, you can feel how fun and intuitive it is to play. Also Next Level Games put a lot of time into the soundtrack and the animations which make the game play feel really smooth and gives a lot of charisma and personality to the unfortunately small roaster of playable characters we have right now available, without the DLC.
If you have no friends or no NSO membership this game won't be for you, since the only single-player content it offers is battling against CPU's in matches or tournaments and it can get repetitive and tedious really fast, which is a shame because the animations and gameplay are fluid.
In conclusion, without the DLC, Mario Strikers: Battle League is not worth it because of it's little to non existing content!

The negatives, however, outweigh the positives since after you have played a dozen or so games you quickly realize there is nothing to do in the game! If you try and play online with your friends - that is capped at two players per game so you are stuck with the cpu for the other 2 players. There seems to be no way that I can find to control the goalie so you are often stuck with lackluster performance from the cpu. And, if you play locally there is nothing really to do as it is just the same cup over and over again. There is no story, no engagement, nothing to do in the game! Seems like something that would be released for $30-$40 USD as a party game. Definitely not a full $60 title!

In 5-6 days the leagues are going to start. Maybe that will fix the online play, but then again there is nothing in the game to keep me playing for the next 5-6 days so I will probably return the game to Gamefly and never look back.

Hopefully everyone else tries a rental before buying since it seems like it will only appeal to a very niche audience and for most people not worth the $60 asking price!

Mechanically fine and fun, but a lack of variety in modes, fields, characters, online options, and single player options. I had fun for an hour, then got bored and have only picked it up a few times since. A real disappointment and I would not recommend buying until all the DLC is released, but who knows when that will be or what it even is.

I had a lot of fun playing with friends, and playing against random opponents online was also fun. As expected, it’s a bit less entertaining playing against the AI.

However, the game really struggles with the content. This game feels just as bare as the Mario Gold and Mario Tennis games that came out for the Switch. It’s pretty clear they intend on adding more content as time goes on, but this makes me wonder - why? Surely this has to do with sales in some way, because it’s the third Mario sports game to do the same thing. The amount of characters, stages, and modes is extremely limited. Sometimes it feels as if this is a $20-30 game with the amount of content that is included. Unless you have a group of friends that you will regularly play this game with, it’s not going to hold your attention long. Nintendo made some very odd choices as well. They added a gear system to the game, which allows you to equip gear that changes the stats of your character. In a way, this is a good idea because it adds for variety in the characters you face. On the other hand, being able to customize the stats to such a huge extent on this limited of a roster makes you realize that almost all of the characters are exactly the same. That’s stupid and is not well thought out. The other major issue is that the AI can be pretty stupid. This could be remedied by allowing it to be a full eight player online (4 vs 4) matchup, however online can only be four players (2 per team). This limits the complexity of the gameplay, and makes you rely on the AI which makes really dumb mistakes or just locks into one position on the field, further limiting your attack.

It’s a decent game, but as with the other Mario sports games, the content is so limited that it hurts the experience and really prevents you from spending a lot of time on it. It’s a fun pick up and play a couple matches game, but I can see it collecting dust pretty quickly. I hope Nintendo figures it out, they are dropping the ball on games that could be fun for years. It’s a soulless effort.

Right now, its the video game equivalent to being sold a raw pizza at a pizza joint. It technically is what you paid for (a pizza), but you will find little value in it and will also be disappointed that it costed the same as a fully prepared pizza. Oh, and the toppings on said raw pizza are spoiled.

I am going to play this game, I think the gameplay is solid and it can literally only go up from here. I am going to enjoy this game eventually I'm sure, and I'm sure that many others will as well; however, I can't recommend Battle League to anyone in it's current state. Even if this game was free to play I would still feel that the game just doesn't have enough to hold anyone's attention for more than the four hours of solo content - which itself is more frustrating than fun.

The solo content is cup mode or quick play. Cup mode is way too easy on the easiest difficulty and the next unlockable difficulty is for Galactic mode. Galactic mode is a serious test of patience. The ally AI are absolutely brain dead and just stand around while the enemy AI has near perfect dodging and field coverage and will body check you constantly. Also, the ally goalie is much less accurate than the enemy goalie. The enemy team will be able to score without even charging their shots while the enemy goalie blocks the vast majority of perfect shots from any distance and from any angle - even with heavy curving. I'm all for challenge and I am continuing to play galactic mode to try and get at least one of the cups but it honestly feels downright unfair. If you know, you know.

If you are reading this and haven't bought the game yet and absolutely must play it, just wait for updates. I feel that you may regret your purchase if you don't wait for more updates - I know I do.

Oh boy is this list long.
The main problem is quite simple. The field is to small and the gameplay itself feels very unintuitive.
There are some cool mechanics, but you are not able to make use of them, because of these two main issues the game has.

On the higher difficulty this game gets only frustrating, the CPU will your characters tackle all over the place and it is nearly impossible to built up some game flow. The handling itself feels clunky and aged.

The customization of your characters does not have the effect you might think it have. I spent my earned coins to buy the gear parts and combine them, however the effect is too low and after some frustrating matches I went back to the standard and felt no difference.

The hyperkick animation becomes boring after a while because you can't skip them, especially when you not done it perfectly it gets really annoying.

The Gamecube version is on the gameplay site by far the superior game. You really don't need this game, when you are in possession of the Gamecube version.

The core gameplay feels off. Players have more control over the character and there shots, but that introduces a learning curve that is annoying to learn with all the items and hyperstrikes that fall on the field. The gear customization doesn’t change a whole much to make the match more interesting.

The online works fine but because the main game just feels incomplete I suggest waiting for future updates and a price drop before picking this up.

Great gameplay and visuals but really lacks in content. Only 10 characters, 5 arenas, and very few game modes. Instead of releasing content in the future it should come included for the $60 price point. Future content should include a lot more characters and arenas to play in. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wish I could say the game was just unplayable garbage, but in all honesty the core mechanics are very engaging and fun. It's just a very lackluster title.

    New features:

Mario Strikers Battle League excels with it's new ideas, which almost all revolve around the game's mechanics. The movement options feel fresh and genuinely like a significant amount of effort was put into them to keep the game interesting. One of my favorite moments in my experience was playing through the game's training courses because it explains how a lot the mechanics that seem random to new players are in the player's control based on a precise timing and a series of inputs. The new gear system is also a great addition that really makes your team building experience feel unique and tailored to your playstyle. That is about everything nice anyone can say about the game. Where Battle League Falls Short:

The amount of single player content is pathetic. I saw the staff credits in two hours, and the only unlockable content is a set of gear and a harder mode for the cups. Even when you beat the "galactic mode", you unlock nothing other than some coins, which you can use to buy gear. If you want to buy every piece of gear in the game like a true completionist, it will cost you 32,000 coins. To put that into perspective, winning an online match will reward you with 20 coins, so good luck earning 1,600 matches of coins without dying of boredom. Obviously, the online, being within a Nintendo service, is susceptible to lag; however, unless you have a friend paired with you or are willing to tolerate a random stranger who is probably playing on a joycon, you can literally get matched against up to four people, which isn't even remotely fair or fun for that matter. Once you're done with all the single player content, which is maybe 6 hours if you do do the training courses and all the cups (including Galactic Mode), this is all you can do, play the same exact mode either against friends or strangers. This isn't even remotely close to the amount of content the previous entries had. There's no milestones, no additional/unlockable settings, no unlockable characters or fields, and every field is exactly the same other than the aesthetics. There aren't any unique gimmicks that keep the fields fresh. It's just "oh that one looks cool I guess". Even with that, there are only five fields, so it feels about as repetitive as it gets. Every character has access to the same 6 sets of gear, which I think is enough, but the amount of characters is just... how? Mario Strikers on the Gamecube had 13 characters when you include sidekicks and Strikers Charged had 20. You would expect this game to have maybe 25. Maybe they'd go crazy and hit 30? No, there are 10 characters. All of the sidekicks have been cut and Toad has now earned his spot as a first-class citizen. This would've been a great opportunity to add really interesting characters like Pauline or King K. Rool. Maybe we'd get a rep that extends outside the Mario franchise. Instead, we can't even get an obvious character like Daisy. This game is simply an example of "it's evolving but backwards". I'm someone who appreciates all the intricate game mechanics, so it's extremely difficult for me to see how any casual player would view a game with this little content as an upgrade to the series, even after a wait of fifteen years.

    Presentation:

A lot of people said they stripped this game of its personality, and I partially agree. The game has become more of a Mario game and less of a Strikers game. I think the best example of this is the replacement of the Kritter goalies, which have now become Boom Boom. That being said, there's still a lot of Strikers left. The characters still have their own interesting personalities, the artstyle is still much of the same, and the soundtrack goes quite hard. I'm satisfied with what we got. It's amazing to me that Nintendo greenlit something like Strikers Charged fifteen years ago where Waluigi crotch chops after scoring and Wario tries to commit suicide with a Bob-omb after a tough loss, so I appreciate what we got.

    Final thoughts:

There's one mode I haven't commented on and that's ranked mode. Why? Because it's not available yet. I feel like when get a $60 game, you should be able to feel like you get the full experience on launch day. I don't care if ranked mode significantly improves the quality of the game in a week. There's no reason why anyone should not be able to write a full review of a full-priced game before waiting ten days after the game's launch. I have no faith in the future DLC updates either. Am I really supposed to get excited for a new character every two months or so when the game is already becoming stale after one weekend? This business practice is horrible. It's crazy that the biggest competition to Nintendo today is their retro games that actually have effort put into them.

The advertising for this game was purposefully deceitful to give the appearance one could play 4v4 online with their friends, which surprise, you cannot do. Other than that, the game is wildly mediocre so it doesn't even have that going for it to make up for the obfuscated online configurations.

    Total: 42

Game play is a ton of fun - but I just can't justify paying almost $100 (CAD) for this at the moment. As most would agree, the game is lacking content - big time. Would only recommend picking this game up if you have friends to play with all the time. Otherwise, I'm probably going to re-buy it down the road once there's some patches or a sale.

First Mario Strikers for me. Overall, considering its cost, the content inside and the quality of life features, it's unacceptable. Let's start with the (not so much) good things:
-Design choices are great: they give me "challenge vibes" -in particular the hypershots- , the equipments and stadium designs are great and the animations are well developed
    -Nice mechanics: the in-match

-Design choices are great: they give me "challenge vibes" -in particular the hypershots- , the equipments and stadium designs are great and the animations are well developed
-Nice mechanics: the in-match mechanics are well explained (thanks to training) and the difficulty curve to master them is not so steep. I love the club mechanics and I can't wait to start the season.
-Great reiterability: online, local or single player it's not boring at all. Matches are always different from each other thanks to the instruments, mechanics and AI's

And now the (many) bad things of this game:
-Online coop: I think this is absolutely the greatest missed opportunity of this game. Why should I play with just two consoles per team? I expect that, when the total team characters are four, I can connect myself with other three friends. Furthermore, considering the time in which we are (nearly after a global pandemy) it's not always easy to stay with friends "in presence", which is what this game force to do if I want to play with other three people online.
-Extremely poor roaster: a 4v4 game with 10 characters is too poor. I know that will add new characters later, but at the moment this can be a problem in terms of variability of the game.
-Cup mode: it starts with an AI that is at the limit of stupidty and, after winning all cups in the normal mode, becomes extremely hard, in particular for novices. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but that level should be smoothed a bit adding an intermediate level or increasing the difficulty of the lower rank
-1St season online: it's unacceptable that season starts seven days after the game release, because in this way it sounds like it is incomplete for me

Very disappointing. There's the frame of a great game here; the core game-play is fantastic. However, everything else is awful. Barely any content and completely broken AI. Single player difficulty options are normal (incredibly easy) and galactic (next to impossible).

On galactic, your AI teammates will stand around and do nothing. Not an exaggeration; I've never seen my AI

Roster is bare bones, there's a complete lack of single player content. No option to turn off items/hyper strikes on cup modes. The game cube version had this over a decade ago.

Waste of $60. Wait until you can find a used copy for $15 and not a penny more.

Not worth the price. This is at best an unfinished product. At worst cash grab by Nintendo.

For 60 dollars, we should really have a campaign/story mode, obstacles, more worlds, more characters etc. What's here is good fun, but it's not a finished product

It's a great game if you don't want to play too long against a pretty erratic AI. It's disappointing to not be able to control the goalie as well. The online features are excellent. Plus there's the promise of an expanding range of available Nintendo characters for free. A perfect choice for parties. [Issue#320]

I was really looking forward to Mario Strikers: Battle League, and for the most part it has been a worthy successor, but it’s a little hampered by the complexity of the gameplay. Even scoring goals can be a bit difficult overall. Soccer is definitely not known for high-scoring affairs but it is simply too difficult to score goals in the time allotted. This does seem to be different from what I remember in the previous games. It was a bit easier to score goals and that is definitely missed. There’s a balance that sports games need to strike, but Battle League does tend to be just a bit more difficult. Still, there is a lot to love about Mario Strikers: Battle League, but it almost made me want a remaster of the first two games more than anything.

Nostalgia is a dangerous thing. In our memories, 'Super Mario strikers' on our Gamecube was the best of the best, unmatched and wonderful. Fair is not fair, as it sets the bar extremely high for 'Mario strikers battle league'. But there's more: this game feels like it's not quite finished.
