Jun 26, 2026Lumentale: Memories of Trey is a solid attempt at crafting a distinct Pokémon-like experience—one that is more challenging and features a slightly more mature narrative than the usual fare.

Jun 15, 2026With some improvements, Lumen Tale: Memories of Trey could be a stellar game. As it stands, it falls in the good but not great area. Pokémon fans may find it’s arguably worth the price tag, but the battle and capture mechanics fetter the fun.

Jun 12, 2026When everything works in harmony, LumenTale: Memories of Trey’s mature twist on the monster-taming genre feels like a genius blend of fan-favourite mechanics alongside smart and refreshing advancements. I hope either updates or a future entry can help evolve things further, as currently both LumenTale and some of the Animon themselves feel buried in a mess of ill-explained and superfluous features. Performance woes frustrate the experience further, alongside some odd control decisions, but any RPG fan looking for a monster-tamer built with clear passion and understanding of the genre's strengths should definitely give this a spin. There’s potential here for LumenTale to actually challenge the very best monster-tamers out there, and I hope Beehive gets the chance to make that happen.

May 26, 2026Lumentale is frustrating because I feel like there is a ton of potential here. This is clearly made with a lot of love for the genre, and there are interesting ideas. I want to love this game. But there are so many glaring flaws in how it’s constructed that, if I wasn’t reviewing this game, those would have been enough for me to exit out right then and there. I could easily see a sequel or similar title by this developer being one of my favorite games, but with all the issues this ended up being a rough experience. I’m going to keep trying to play more of this, and since I didn’t come close to an ending I don’t feel like I can honestly give this a score, but I feel like this game is constantly pushing back at me getting to that point.
