A delightful refreshing new story for a cosy sim blends with an extremely creative puzzler in Lonesome Village, which features a cute art style and relaxing vibes throughout. With a few patches to address crashing, it could be among the best in the genre. Even with these issues though, the game gets my recommendation with a caveat to save often so you don’t lose your progress.

Lonesome Village it’s a great hybrid between games like The Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing. Sometimes it tries to be different, but in some areas the effort it’s not good enough to make us forget about the other games.

Lonesome Village is pleasant. The world is bright and colorful. Despite things being Very Wrong around town, there’s no sense of pressing danger. It encourages you to take in the scenery and solve puzzles at your leisure. While that means it can feel a little too rudimentary, it’s generally a good time. Especially as villagers start to return and you get a chance to interact with more (virtual) “people” again.

Lonesome Village takes elements of life-sim legends and a large handful of Zelda references and wraps them together in very cute packaging. It may not have the richest narrative, but it will absorb and soothe you – even in its short playtime. Barring a few drawbacks with player experience, specifically around menu navigation, this game offers up some good wholesome fun without the sweaty button-mashing of combat. If you’re puzzling over a new cosy game to play, Lonesome Village just might be your solution.

Overall, Lonesome Village succeeds at what it sets out to do. It doesn’t do anything unique, and it isn’t without its flaws; if you’re looking for something that offers a relaxing, chilled experience, then this one is for you.

The fact that the puzzles are either childish or impossible is a problem. The biggest problem, though, is that there’s no auto save, and the game occasionally refuses to recognize inputs, so I’ve lost multiple hours of progress because I got bricked out of a game with no kill state. It’s absurd Expand

The puzzles are way too easy 90% of the time, there are some glitches, the interactions with the villagers are bland and going back and forth the whole map sometimes can feel frustrating. I didn't have much fun playing it, but I finished it. The game has potential btw. With more challenging puzzles, more depth in the interactions with the villagers and WAY more space in the backpack to put the items, the game would have been good. Could have been great but the bugs and glitches let it down. Inventory management is painful, and i had to restart many times because I got stuck.
