A frustrating and disappointing experience from start to finish. The moments meant to generate tension were spoiled by imprecise controls and a static camera (particularly combat) Having a secondary character was under-utilised and puzzles involving her were shallow and boring. The story is also a bit too obtuse and left me with little desire to replay it. Hopefully Tarsier learn from this.

I really have mixed feelings about this game. There are both terribly good and terribly bad aspects to it. I haven't played the first game, so I'll review it as a standalone title.

The good thing: The mood. The game looks like Tim Burton horror. The characters look like those stop-motion models. Their design is excellent and spooky. The environment is also very atmospheric, and really uses the perspective of a scared little child very well. Everything around you feels oppressive and huge, while you feel small and insignificant. However, it's not really scary (with scarce exceptions). It's really good at establishing a dark atmosphere, but I never felt really frightened. The story is told without dialogue, and is very strong. I won't spoil the ending, but the last chapter is really epic. And the sound is well made, centered around a theme from a music box.

The bad thing: The gameplay. The controls are BAD. They are so imprecise and delayed that you'll die often just due to bad controls. For example, you can't even jump and grab something midair, you have to hold the "grab" button on the ground, and then jump. And then, the game has the audacity to require precise movement in certain sections, so you just die a dozen times before you get a lucky run. Some people argue that bad controls make a horror game scarier and better. I'd say they make it less scary, because a section becomes boring if you are forced to repeat it a couple of times. And bad controls are a big no-no for any platformer, and this game is one.
The level design often made me wonder where to go or what to do next when there was no puzzle intended! The puzzles are average.

I can't really recommend it for the Switch. Due to its hardware limitations, the graphics are a little washed out. Although it's short, I would say it's not worth your time.

Prequel was dark, abstract, Tim Burton-ish. Had Slow pacing, lots of exploration and a fair pool of 100% optional activities and locations. Characters were unique and mysterious and the overall story captivating and very open-ended. Oh and it made me love Six.
Sequel? Keep "running right". Locations and enemies based of only the most overused horror elements (asylum, dolls, butchering,

Literally - what the hell happen here? Did all the lead designers quit? Oh and suddenly Six is evil now... I seriously regret ever playing this. Now it's just a clone of Inside...

A must have for anyone who loves horror games. It's a good game but held back from greatness by a few flaws.

The visuals are top notch and set an intense scary atmosphere. The puzzles are challenging without being overcomplicated or too simple. The check points are also plentiful making it easy to stop and jump right back into. The main thing holding this game back is the controls.

The main thing holding this game back is the controls. They're just like the first game. Sometimes when I jump and press grab the character does sometimes he doesn't. They're simply too inconsistent. If it wasn't for the clunky controls I would have given this game a 9 easy so minus 2 points for poor controls.

The Switch version is also littered with glitches like the characters spinning in place, random white tears, and objects not loading in when they should. The game feels rushed and like the developers didn't have time to fully test it. These aren't major glitches so minus 1 point.

Overall a good game and I'll be looking forward to a 3rd, hopefully with improved controls.

Little nightmares 2 is a great game and prequel. the first 3 levels are fun and definitely spine chilling to experience, but the last 2 felt off. The TV puzzles were fun but it felt like something was missing. The last level was my least favorite (ironic cause the last level in LN1 was my favorite) the door puzzle was so confusing it was the only time looked up how to solve it, and theLittle nightmares 2 is a great game and prequel. the first 3 levels are fun and definitely spine chilling to experience, but the last 2 felt off. Hopefully a 3rd will come in the future and give some sort of conclusion. In conclusion Little Nightmare 2 was a great game I'd recommend to anyone who enjoys games like Little Nightmares, Limbo or Inside. please check it out but don't get too wrapped up in the story near the end or you'll be disappointed. In short: Little Nightmares II is too much of an irritating, sad and violent game, and too little of a fun game.

The original Little Nightmares was mostly about stealth. Keep hidden in the shadows, and you might just escape the creatures waiting to catch you. That is what made the game great, and what made it different from so many other games out there. In Little Nightmares II,

In Little Nightmares II, Tarsier and Bandai Namco throw some of that winning formula overboard. Instead, we find a loosely connected, confusing narrative - and many fights. Yes, apart from fleeing and hiding, this game is a lot about hitting, crushing and killing.

The visuals and sound design, as well as many of the puzzle based levels, are still top notch, but controls are sometimes clunky. Simple episodes of walking around, finding something and solving a problem are mixed with infuriating, timing sensitive jump and run action. The latter often breaks the flow of the game, leaving a feeling of frustration, rather than a sense of accomplishment, with awkwardly placed checkpoints only adding to this. Also, some scripted character actions look choppy and would have needed a bit more polishing.

Most reviewers seem not to mind all the violence, which perhaps reflects the times we live in. Altogether, Little Nightmares II is too much of an irritation, and too little fun. The semi-predictable ending of this Scandinavian game leaves a similar taste in your mouth like so many Scandinavian TV series have for the last decade. Been there, done that. Please move on.

Quite disappointed. I loved the first one + the expansions and was really looking forward to this.
Sadly it was too similar, predictable and with too many puzzles for my taste, while pretty annoying having to start all over again if you died trying to solve a puzzle. That being said, I truly enjoyed the hospital chapter (sooo creepy) That was almost worth all the money in itself, but

Niggling platforming mechanics aside, Little Nightmares II is hauntingly beautiful and full of mystery, its eeriness matched only by the impact it leaves on the player. [Issue #3, p.59]

For a horror, this is an oddly beautiful game filled with gorgeous scenes and amazing detail. Even though it is a sequel, it gives it's own interesting storyline that matches the original without being a copy.

Little Nightmares II is an excellent sequel to one of the best horror titles with elements of puzzle and exploration. The second game brings the "work together" appeal, with the return of Six (protagonist of first Little Nightmares), and the protagonism of Mono. This surreal adventure is worth every second.
