While visually intriguing and distinct, Liberated feels more like an idea than a game, thanks to an uninspired story, boring gameplay and a stunning lack of polish.

Really, the comic book presentation of Liberated makes the gameplay portions feel like an afterthought, shoehorning some weak gunplay into a tale that's really more about political intrigue and moral quandaries of balancing safety against the preservation of personal freedoms. The best parts of Liberated are the character beats in the comic panels, and the worst are the moments when you have to shoot a bunch of dopey, stilted bad guys in order to get back to more comics. It's nice to look at, but Liberated's uninspired levels and often-frustrating design make it feel more like a cage.

There are better games out there, folks. I appreciate Liberated’s attempt to blend comic storytelling with action sequences, but hopefully somebody will take this baton and do it better.

Liberated seemed like a good idea, but this comic book-inspired action platformer is a game without any idea, which do not even reach to anything at all. With its stiff control, poor collision, repetitive action and oh-so cliché story, the game does not even take advantage of its comic book format.

As much as stylized in presentation and as thought-provoking (story-wise) it wants to be, Liberated falls apart due to its clunky gameplay and uninspiring narrative. With superficial characters in a hollow view of real-world problems it is no surprise the game comes through as a nihilistic and cynical approach thematically. There is potential though. The comic-like presentation needs more robust gameplay and a bold narrative that does not try to please everyone.

Completely unjustified complaints coming in from some big sites. The game was fantastic!

I like everything in it, for example: a very good idea that everything is a comic book. But there's only one thing that I can stick to. That is, to poor graphics during the 3D transition. But the rest is great! Full Review »

The story is the main focus of this game and it’s excellent, the visuals on the comics are superb. The gameplay in the other hand is kinda mediocre, it’s mostly shoot for the head 2D game but there is some puzzles here and there which is cool and all. The game is not that long anyway it’s 3-4 hours which is kinda sad not gonna lie. Liberated is a unique game, with its take on story telling via comic book style 2D adventure game is done very well, I just wish they added just a bit more gameplay mechanics and more chapters to play. (Good 3/5) Give It A Try! Full Review »
