While Lego 2K Drive is a very good game, I just don't live the Season Pass because it can likely ruin the potential the game has. But it has very solid gameplay and could be better if not for the season pass. But overall, it is a very fun racing game.

First my long diatribe setting up the game. PS3/xbox360 was my favorite generation of videogames. And Nintendo understands that by selling basically a walking PS3. And Nintendo understands that by selling basically a walking PS3. When I see 2k I automatically think of micro transactions. So I read the title of this game as Lego microtransactions drive. Which is very appropriate. It's a vehicular combat kart racer that transformers it's vehicles based on the surface you are driving on. Exactly like sonic and Sega All-stars racing transformed from the PS3 and last year's Nickelodeon kart racers 3 slime speedway which could run on a PS3. Graphically it's on par with the above mentioned games and that's average to good. It looks like a PS3 title and you can take that anyway you want to. It may look better on other systems. But it is colorful, vibrant, and kinda nice as a Legos title, so it's appropriate. It has hd rumble and that's always a plus for me. I like the racing, even the rubber banding which keeps things competitive, I like the open world which I wished the other 2 games I mentioned were. I like the music. And they are always cracking jokes which I find funny. I like the customizing and building a vehicle from Legos, it's quite extensive. But it's finicky. I like the transforming. I don't like the microtransactions but I did buy the game knowing exactly what I was getting into. I don't like how I'm sure they had the whole game complete then decided to chop it up as added seasonal dlc like Mario kart did and charge 40$. They could have rewarded you by adding the microtransactions as content instead you are rewarding them with more of your money for having paid full price for the game. I don't like some of the long to me loading times. If I seem to be a little underwhelmed by this game it is because I've seen it done before in the games I mentioned above, and this is more of the same. I'm overall happy but I feel like they could have raised the bar a bit more than just an open world. They are definitely trying to get paid like they raised the bar Expand

A lot of things to do, in LEGO style.

Lego 2K Drive is fine for a semi-open-world racing game. It's a game with a fair few faults, so it all really comes down to how much you want a racer like this on your Switch. The other version will look and run better, but if you want a Lego-themed racer on the Switch, this will do.

Lego 2K Drive is one of the finest arcade racers around, setting itself apart from the competition by literally building a new foundation for the genre. Like the very best LEGO sets, each of its pieces adds up to a wonderful product. Racing fans owe it to themselves to check this one out.
