    This game is honestly fantastic, the music, the artistic direction, graphics and combat is on point. The game received free DLC which are all integrated in the base game now. The game contain no microtransactions and it's price is very decent.

With one of the best art stile I've seen in my life and with the best soundtrack I've ever heard in an indie game, I can say that hollow knight is an unforgettable experience for all the people who have tried this title, and it will be for those that have not yet done so.     Hollow Knight is peak metroidvania. It's a gorgeous game with gorgeous game design amazing soundtrack and a story that you won't cover on your own. Cannot recommend this game enough.

    Since about 1995, I have been of the opinion that Super Metroid is the peak of its genre. I found it hard to believe something could ever beat it.

    But I played Hollow Knight, and the unthinkable has happened. Super Metroid is now #2 on my metroidvania list. There are no real weak points to the game.     But I played Hollow Knight, and the unthinkable has happened. Super Metroid is now #2 on my metroidvania list.

    There are no real weak points to the game. The graphics are beautiful, the animation smooth as butter, the music is very effective, the writing is on point both when attempting to be comical and when attempting to be somber (sometimes achieving both in the same sentence).

    There are no words for how excellent the gameplay is. Every inch of ground feels earned (for instance, the abilities to even chart new places on a purchased map or track where you are on the map have to be bought), every skill unlocked brings a rush as the map opens a little further. There are all kinds of side quests and upgrades and challenges and almost none of them feel rote or fetch-y (there's one where you have to go around the map and collect a few things several times and that did feel rote to me, but it was literally the only time I felt that way... and the boss it unlocked was worth it). The exploration is just so consistently rewarding, there's always something worth finding or a path to follow that leads to something worth finding. Exploration and platforming are a joy, but challenging enough to keep you on your toes.

    It is rare that a game nails both exploration and combat so effectively, but Hollow Knight has many dozens of minor enemies and several dozen boss fights, almost all of them fun and interesting to fight against! I am in awe of how the game manages to balance bosses being challenging and fun, while also being mostly different from one another mechanically and completely fair in their telegraphs and your chance to evade or attack. The knight controls like a dream, the combat upgrades are excellent and tailor to a variety of play styles (want to be a tank? a shaman? a rogue? There's a charm for that!), and there's nothing quite like your pulse pounding as the boss takes that final hit and starts its death animation just as you've run out of magic and are down to your last hit point. These might be my favorite 2-D boss fights of any game ever. And again, there are DOZENS of them!

    I'm not sure I have ever seen a gameplay feedback loop so effective (on me anyway). Fight the things to explore the place to find things that help you fight and explore more effectively...it never stops being rewarding.

    If you have even a passing interest in metroidvanias, do yourself a favor and buy this cheap game (it's $15 when it's not on sale! it's worth $60 easy!) that can be explored for literally a hundred hours on a first playthrough and still not yield all its secrets. What an utterly fantastic game. An all-time masterpiece in videogame history, let alone metroidvanias.    … Expand

    Loved this game, an amazing introduction to the souls-like genre. Beautiful art and world, engaging combat and story, fun bosses, and areas with just enough challenge to keep you on your toes, but not enough to make you feel like you're stubbing your toe through a cinderblock. Amazing game, would strongly recommend for anyone interested in Metroidvanias. 10/10

The combat is simple, intuitive, and challenging, yet allows for an insane amount of mastery and expressiveness. Hollow Knight is easily one of the best games ever created, and it's incredible that a team of 3-4 people who have never made a real game before could do this. It just shows that you don't need a large budget or a giant team of experts to make an impact in the world, you just need motivation and love for what you are doing.
    Of course Hollow Knight is not for everyone (nothing is), and you may want to stay away from this game if you:
    -Don't like a challenge, as Hollow Knight is very hard, and can be frustrating at some points.
    -Want to know what the heck you're doing, as Hollow Knight is exploration based and you will almost never be told exactly where to go or what to do.
    -Get impatient, as Hollow Knight has very slow pacing.
    -Like games that have constant action, as Hollow Knight is a more intimate experience, and will be loved most by people who appreciate the little things in life.
    Overall, this game is a must-play that I will recommend to absolutely everybody who will listen. For only $15, it genuinely feels like stealing to buy this game.    … Expand

    Was a very fun game to play but the market prices was to high i had to beat the same mine boss every day for 2 days to just earn enough to buy 2 items to progress. After progressing i found out i have to grind for more items. I did enjoy playing the game.

The characters, while not extremely complex, are charming and fun. Whenever you have the fortune of running into a character, it is always a great time.     I played this game for 200 hours, and not one second of it felt wasted. The gameplay is a blast, the atmosphere is the best I’ve ever seen, this metroidvania is a must-play for anyone with the means to do so.

    Great game, can't wait for Silksong. It sometimes gives me BOTW vibes, you get lost very easily, and I love that. You can sometimes struggle with bosses, but that just makes it more addicting. Highly recommend.

    An incredibly beautiful and fun game at a great price. I've put 116 hours into this game and still haven't explored it in it's entirety. Music, environments, and boss fights all get a 10/10 from me. Especially the Nightmare King Grimm fight. It took me 140 tries and every time the music started I got hyped.

    Just incredible. Off the bat I'll say I haven't played many metroidvania games, namely Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Metroid Dread, and Super Metroid, but of these I would say HK is the king. Its brilliant combat system, gorgeous art and music, and engrossing world will suck you in like no other game can. I've never experienced a game where I was so utterly captivated by the worldbuildingJust incredible. Its brilliant combat system, gorgeous art and music, and engrossing world will suck you in like no other game can. I've never experienced a game where I was so utterly captivated by the worldbuilding and story, to the point that I wanted to continue exploring every nook and cranny just for the smallest piece of lore to better explain the complex world it develops. Every question Hallownest poses has an answer if your willing to dig, and no other game out there will provide such a high quality experience for such a cheap price. The game is quite difficult and can be quite punishing, so I understand why this may not be for everyone, but to me this is firmly placed as my 2nd favorite game of all time. If Team Cherry can make a game this good on their first try I can't wait for what's in store for SilkSong.

However if i ever find those damn watcher knights on the streets ill be forced to throw hands. they are by far the dumbest and most terrible boss in this game and if i had the power to personally rip their heads off and drink their blood and feed their remains to their children i most definitely would. plus9.7 out of 10 for me.     It's one of those games that you can't forget a single thing about, nothing, and i mean nothing is this game is out of place, unfair or just "bad" in general. The soundtrack, the game-play and the lore are terrific, and i can't see why anybody should dislike this game, truly a masterpiece.

Even with a couple of faster means of traversal, the nature of this progression system leads to some extremely tedious backtracking, but it's a bearable price to pay for this amazingly interconnected map. Combat is definitely the less impressive side of the game: disappointingly simple and static throughout the journey, with not many active options. Bosses, for the most part, present the same issue: although pleasantly challenging, they're pretty simplistic with repeated attack patterns and a lack of true depth in their movesets, only rarely with meaningfully different phases. This, however, can be partially excused thanks to their impressive quantity and variety, just as the combat is greatly enhanced by many passive abilities unlockable and an amazing healing system that requires strategic timing and rewards good play with stronger offensive options.    … Expand

    El juego cuenta con un gran libro de arte, banda sonara 10/10, jefes que al principio te pueden parecer un pequeño problema, pero después de varios intentos ya se t hacen fáciles. Lo que me más me agrada es la capacidad de speedrun y NO-HIT que tiene. El único defecto sería ciertas mecánicas de esquive.

    It's an incredible game, just not the best thing, the opening is a little bit boring, but once you're finished with it, the game becomes way more enjoyable, the music is mind blowing and the artstyle, i love it, i just hoped it cautivated me from the first minutes of the gameplay.

    Hollow Knight is as close as you can get to a perfect "Metroidvania", purely satisfying to discover new parts of the map and new Npc´s, beautiful design and scenario, awesome movement, it feels like you are always in control of the knight, every pixel it moves. If you like a beautiful challenge, this is your game.

The movement is silky smooth, and the game is incredible at creating atmosphere. Deepnest was genuinely terrifying, but City of Tears was beautiful and serene. Each location is so memorable in track and design I can't even begin to stress how great they are. The bosses are so much fun and so creative. Never before have I had favourite bosses in games based on gameplay, but Mantis Lords and Nightmare King Grimm always come to mind as fun and challenging fights that I may never forget conquering. And the world and its residents just OOZE this crazy amount of character. Of course, you don't meet many people in this deserted world, but the few you do run into are unforgettable. This game is truly a standout. Please, play Hollow Knight. Any amount of popularity it has now is not enough.… Expand

It's great, its amazing, its my perfect game. the start of the game starts off really slow and is kind of a snore fest for most, but when you find the next area, its hard to put the screen down. you have to Earn abilities to basically show you have the guts to play the game. would it be fun if it was easy? sure, its frustrating at the start, but once you get more and more things, you're hooked! I couldn't stop exploring after I beat hornet in greenpath. its absolutely amazing, but its pretty slow at the start and not many people know that. I ended up uninstalling the game because of this, but i gave it another shot, found the next area, and now I'm at 100% completion with 60 hours on the clock of the game. its a great game. I hope people figure that out themselves. especially for 15 bucks.… Expand

The lack of combo in combat system also decreases the satisfaction, particularly in boss fight. I highly appreciate the charm system, which creates many tactics to fight boss and increases the replay value of the game. But again, the game makes me feel annoying because you must sit on a bench if you want to change your charms. This rule is ridiculous, because in the game you can do anything else ( reading your map, studying the Hunter's journal, etc.) without a bench. It may just take several minutes to find a bench and return to the boss arena, but even so, it greatly reduce the pacing of the game.
    In general, this is still one of the best games I played. I hope the next version Silk Song can avoid these minor problems to become a flawless masterpiece.    … Expand

With Metroidvanias being one of my favorite genres, I was excited to play Hollow Knight. Entering an unfamiliar world open to be explored however I wanted to explore it, immediately sucked me into the vast world of Hollow Knight. The little to no handholding that didn'tHollow Knight sucked me in as no other game has done in a while, but in the end, I was left with a void unfulfilled. With Metroidvanias being one of my favorite genres, I was excited to play Hollow Knight. Entering an unfamiliar world open to be explored however I wanted to explore it, immediately sucked me into the vast world of Hollow Knight. The little to no handholding that didn't force me down a linear path was an amazing experience. This isn't found enough in games today. As Hollow Knight, I could explore as far as I dared. This often time brought about challenging situations that were greatly enjoyed.

    World: The vastness of Hollow Knight, accompanied by an explore as much as you dare feel, was by far my favorite part of Hollow Knight. I kept challenging myself to explore deeper into Hollow Knight, even though my Knight was often unprepared for the challenge. Traversing the world can be very challenging at times, but almost always enjoyable!

    Combat: Hollow Knight's combat was fun, simple, challenging, and very enjoyable. I enjoyed the simplicity and versatility of the charm system provided. I was able to constantly change my builds to fine-tune my Knight's abilities to best prepare for the situation at hand.

    Bosses: Hollow Knight's bosses are amazing. I was impressed by the vast amount of bosses and how unique each boss was. Each boss challenged me in very different ways and forced me to hone my skills in all areas of combat (nail, spells, mobility, charm load outs, etc.).

    Story: I have a love-hate relationship with Hollow Knight's story. The game provides little explanation of what is going on/happened in Hollow Knight. There are hints scattered throughout the game, but there is nothing concrete. As I played, the lack of understanding was something that drew me into the game. I wanted to explore every corner of the world and experience everything there was to experience. But, as the game concluded, I was left with an unfilled void. It felt like the game did very little to answer my many many questions. Therefore, leaving me disappointed and unfulfilled at the end of the game. I hope the next game brings more depth and clarity to the Hollow Knight story.

    Overall, Hollow Knight is one of my favorite games. The gameplay, world, combat, bosses, and story all work together to provide a fun and challenging experience. Hollow Knight is a must-play game. I am excited to see what Team Cherry does next.    … Expand

Other than the perfect map progression and exploration, the cleanest aspect of hollow knight is definitely the combat. Every attack and ability has a satisfying weight to it. To complement the fights, hollow knights movement is nothing short of silky smooth. The jump is floaty, but not unresponsive. The dash is a joy to use, and I frequently found myself jumping and dashing around a room just because it was fun. I don't want to get into spoilers as everyone should experience this game for themselves, but every boss or mob is refreshing. Hollow knight doesn't fall into the trap of reskinning enemies with minor changes, which allows for more unique and vivid areas. The story of hollow knight is subtle but effective. It doesn't force your attention, but rewards it instead. Lore is strewn about, and it is up to the player to make sense of the world and its inhabitants. To conclude, Hollow knight is nothing short of a masterpiece. It's length is about 40+ plus hours if you want the true ending (yes it has multiple endings). If you enjoy 2D platformers, then theres no reason for you not to play this game. 10/10… Expand

    Difficulty - This game is aggressive, extremely difficult, unforgiving, and brutal, yet there is almost never any cheap or artificial difficulty. That's what makes it so fun!
    Grinding - Only near the beginning, when you have to collect about 400 Geo to buy cartography supplies.
    Length - Wow, this game is packed to the brim with content. You have the main story, 48(ish) bosses, a super hard platforming gauntlet, 10+ gigantic areas to explore, 46 grubs to rescue, 45 charms to collect, a colosseum with 3 challenges, 5 gargantuan boss rushes, and lots more side content!
    Characters - Hollow Knight has an amazing cast of lovable characters, and also Zote.

I personally hated deepnest, but it did its job as a hard dark area, but places like the queens garden can be horrible to explore. But, after all the positives and flaws there is a great game made by only two people with passion, I would recommend hollow knight to anyone with a shred of interest in the game, and even though they bad parts are there the good parts make up for it

    I've played this game for around 100hrs about now, and it is probably one of my favorite games ever. It feels fantastic to move around, its bosses are interesting and difficult and it has compelling lore and story line without a single intelligible word being said.     There are a few negative reviews that I eat to address, as they are made by two year olds trying to compare it to a Souls game. The learning curve is made so you have to adapt to bosses, instead of just throwing yourself at them over and over again. Also, complaining about difficulty or the few save locations across the map is dumb, because that is by design. It is made to challenge you to find faster routes, memorize the map, and locate hidden passages. The bosses themselves are creative and fluid, sometimes making you feel genius after you defeat one. Fighting in this game feels more like a dance, weaving through attacks and finding opportunities to strike.

    All in all, a must-play even if you haven’t played a metroidvania before.    … Expand

It has a very great atmosphere, and the landscape is amazing. From Greenpath being full of life, to almost nothing in Deepnest. The story/lore of this game is amazing, thousands of people still try to piece it together.

    Me personally, the game was a little boring at first, but as you progress further into it, it becomes a lot of fun. Unlocking new abilities, charms, areas, and boss fights.    … Expand

    My favorite metroidvania. Lots of build variety. Atmosphere and settiing is top notch. Character design and art style is evocative and creative. Insane content for value, and boss design is super fun. Worth it for any fan of metroidvanias.

    Hollow Knight is an incredible achievement that combines smart game design, a rich world, and sharp combat, with an enthralling insectoid world and a story just begging for you to find it. Team Cherry’s title is a high watermark for Metroidvanias, as the satisfying abilities and countless collectibles add variety and meaning to exploration, rewarding every discovery. Yet, while the challenge is a rewarding part of the process, I do wish that the title made some concessions and shone a bit of light in the darkness for those first fledgling steps.
