    Straight up peak, and a must play for any Metroidvania fan. Great difficulty, great visuals, great music, and impeccable controls. Lots of secrets hidden if you look well.

    Fantastic. Makes me want to explore and gave me back the feeling of being lost. Does everything other metroidvanias do well and do it better. I only disliked the abilities and collection dreams in late game was exhausting and repetitive, specially because of the backtrack.

    One if not the best gaming experience I have ever had. The feeling of immersion is so great that when I played Hollow knight I wasn't me in my couch, I was exploring the eternal kingdom of Hallownest.

    Every one should own this game. If it sold for $60, it would be one of the best games at that price. At, $15, it is perhaps the most no-brained purchase on the Nintendo Switch. It’s the best Metroidvania I’ve ever played. The world design, story, and art are mesmerizing. The gameplay is sharp and flawless. The bosses are challenging. The progression is great.     Este juego es una obra maestra, fue hecho por 3 personas y tiene mucha más calidad que algunos juegos hechos por estudios de mucha gente. La música, el diseño de arte, variedad y diseño de enemigos, combate, mecánicas e historia son realmente magistrales.

    Compra obligada si te gustan los juegos indie, pero sobretodo si te gustan los buenos juegos, las obras maestras, aún no entiendo    Este juego es una obra maestra, fue hecho por 3 personas y tiene mucha más calidad que algunos juegos hechos por estudios de mucha gente.     Da un poco de pena terminar el juego ya que entrega a lo largo de las horas jugadas una sensación de haber aprovechado mas, con ganas de rejugarlo (en lo personal no hay muchas), eso si los logros bien puestos así como la curva de dificultad, el precio es un regalo para lo que ofrece. La música majestuosa y el diseño de ambiente y personajes, entrañable.

    Hollow Knight is a game that mixes beautiful art, sound and level design with challenging boss fights, amazing exploration and hours of content. It is for a price that is way to low for it's quality so there is no excuse to not buying it. Go in blind (like I did) and you will truly have a 10/10 experience

All of them provide hours of entertainment, open level design, and a overall great experience. Yet one game succeeds them all. This game combines every tiny little detail of these games and packs them into one package. Hollow Knight is the best metroidvania ever    RETROspective

    Super Metroid, Castlevania, Ori, Axiom Verge, Dead Cells, Blasphemous, all these games are, frankly, amazing. All of them provide hours of entertainment, open level design, and a overall great experience.
    Yet one game succeeds them all. This game combines every tiny little detail of these games and packs them into one package. Hollow Knight is the best metroidvania ever made. This game is the culmination of a few small developers and one composer who, through a few game jams, made a masterpiece. Hollow Knight almost never loses its footing on its 20-40 hour adventure. The game is more polished than marble. The game has very little areas it lacks in, and even in the ones it does lack in they are usually not glaring enough to take away from it. Games have never ever, come so close to perfection in every possible aspect as this game. Like “God of War” this game isn’t nessecarly amazing because it’s good in one are, but it’s great in almost every area. This game is worth every cent, buy it.

    En tan solo unos días este juego consiguió convertirse en mi juego favorito, por encima incluso de juegos como The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, Mario Odyssey y otros juegos muy buenos de Nintendo switch. Sus controles se sienten muy fluidos, sobre todo en nintendo switch, la historia es fantástica, aunque difícil de descifrar, lo que lo hace aún mejor.    ¡Este juego es fantástico!

Sus controles se sienten muy fluidos, sobre todo en nintendo switch, la historia es fantástica, aunque difícil de descifrar, lo que lo hace aún mejor. Los personajes me parecen fantásticos y muy carismáticos, sobre todo los jefes, cada combate es único y tienes que aprenderte su patrón de movimientos para salir victorioso. La dificultad está muy bien, un juego difícil pero no injusto, las partes más complicadas están en los dlc's, de los cuales el juego tiene 4 y son totalmente gratis, lo que también es un punto a favor, la estética dibujada a mano me parece increíble, y todos los pequeños detalles que hay ocultos y no se ven a simple vista me fascinan. El juego te deja tomar tu propio camino, hay hay jefes que son obligatorios en el juego, pero hay varios que no, asi tu decides ir a por ellos o no. Este videojuego es muy barato para la cantidad de contenido que trae, solo 15€ para un juego de más de 60 horas de juego, o si te gusta obtenerlo todo, incluso más de 100 horas.

    Sinceramente este juego es buenísimo, me encanta todo de este juego, y me parece un muy buen reto para los jugadores que quieran juegos complicados.    … Expand

    Затянуло на 50 часов по итогу. Почитать сюжет можно уже после прохождения, во время самой игры некая недосказанность и намеки от NPC никак не портят впечатление. С некоторыми боссами придется повозиться но всё по кайфу. У Team Cherry получился один из лучших продуктов в жанре, если не самый лучший.Затянуло на 50 часов по итогу. Почитать сюжет можно уже после прохождения, во время самой игры некая недосказанность и намеки от NPC никак не портят впечатление. С некоторыми боссами придется повозиться но всё по кайфу. У Team Cherry получился один из лучших продуктов в жанре, если не самый лучший.

    A really smart (and difficult) game. A lot of nice choices for the lore, the world, the music and the art direction is beautiful. Everything works perfectly together. They are some small things I definitely would correct because sometimes it can ruins your fun for sure (benches really far from bosses which make you lose so much time to go back to the boss everytime you die (which willA really smart (and difficult) game. I feel this wasn't really thought of and it's kinda sad because after almost 10 hours of playing I almost stopped playing because I got discouraged by some unfair parts. Adding more benches would not have made the game more easier, just less frustrating. And what's the point of creating a game that is frustrating for no apparent reason.

    But outside of that, it's kinda incredible the amount of work put in that game, for such a small team, and such a small price.

    Big studios should get more inspired by indie devs because it's really rare that you have a 15$ game that have you spend 45h just to finish the game (not even completing it - you have to be a little masochist to do that).

    All in all it's a masterpiece and I hope the next one will be as good (with MORE BENCHES *wink wink*),    … Expand

    This game is an incredible achievement and has got to be my favourite open world game, and they're the best kind. This game has a few pretty major flaws but I think the best way to describe it is that this game is what non - gamers think the average game is like: a sprawling adventure that, at it's core, is not the protagonists, but yours. wrote that for botw but it applies to hk too

    I have so many fond memories of this game, when I listen to the music my eyes start tearing up. There is so much hidden power in a vast world with incredible exploration. The story though... You can skip it but if you work for it, wow, the world feels real. Each character Has there own story, past and can be impacted by your actions.     Gioco stupendo. Semplicemente perfetto in ogni cosa: longevità, dlc, gameplay, aspetto grafico, animazioni, lore, combact sistem, personaggi, dialoghi, ambientazioni, colonna sonora ecct. Un gioco che non ha assolutamente punti dolenti... Un must have! Voto: 9.5 (ho messo 10 approssimando per eccesso)

First of all, it's a Metroidvania, a genre based around 2D exploration and combat, and Hollow Knight excels in both categories with flying colors. As the Knight, you descend into the ruins of a once great kingdom trapped in a stasis of decay, Hallownest. Throughout your adventure you meet all sorts of charming characters, dangerous creatures, and fierce combatants. Speaking of combat, it is fantastic. The genius of Hollow Knight's combat hinges on two factors, precision in timing and the soul mechanic. In fights, every swing of your nail has to be performed at the right time. Demanding it may be, it’s incredibly rewarding when you learn the intricate patterns of a combatant and emerge victorious. Next, soul is a substance that you gain from striking enemies. The most effective way to heal yourself is to consume soul, so in order to play defensively you must first engage with enemies. However, you can’t move while healing, leaving you vulnerable. This adds strategic tension to every encounter. The soul system, in tandem with the precise diligence of timing attacks, gives combat a natural ebb and flow. That great foundation leads to some of the best boss fights I’ve ever encountered. A majority of them are exceedingly well designed, wonderfully creative, and immensely rewarding to overcome. Outside of being a challenge, I really appreciate that each boss belongs in the world, they all serve to deepen this game’s outstanding world building. Hallownest as a fictional setting is so well realized and incredibly intriguing, it is a joy to uncover its history and secrets by exploring its labyrinthine tunnels. I love just being in this world. Every time I return to the game there’s an extra little detail to appreciate, or I’ll stumble upon something that I have yet to discover. Hollow Knight uses its ancient ruins, character dialogue, and visual hints as a vehicle to paint a greater narrative. It’s so much fun trying to piece all of these elements together, you feel like an archeologist. Another pillar of this game’s design is exploration, so naturally progression is tied to it as well. On your descent you unearth new abilities by exploring. Theses abilities then reward you by enabling traversal to areas that were previously unreachable. At first you’re subtly lead by a trail of breadcrumbs to the first major ability, but after that it’s up to you to figure out where you want to go. That’s why I love the world design, it has clear structure but encourages the player to approach exploration based on what they value. It’s the most immersed that I’ve ever been in a game’s world. The art direction is also stellar and greatly added to my immersion; the dingy atmosphere, intricately detailed backgrounds (reminiscent of HR Giger’s work), combined with the minimalist character designs, all culminate in a strikingly unique visual identity. The soundtrack is also great, it’s equal parts haunting and jaunty. I can’t compliment this game enough, it’s near perfect in my book. The developers are even great people, Team Cherry is honestly a godsend. The digital version of Hollow Knight is only $15 and it has more content, value, polish, and soul than most AAA games. There are no microtransactions and all of the DLC is free. Its sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong, is currently my most anticipated release. There are some things that you might want to keep in mind if you consider purchasing it. Hollow Knight is one of the hardest games I’ve ever played.     Hollow knight is in one of my favorite genre's of games, metroidvania. Games like Ori, Metroid, and more games about upgrading and exploring. Hollow knight is more different than any other metriodvania I have ever played, it is freaking hard. The game punishes you for not exploring and upgrading. You have to take the game slow or you will die. This game is full of colorful characters andHollow knight is in one of my favorite genre's of games, metroidvania. Games like Ori, Metroid, and more games about upgrading and exploring. Hollow knight is more different than any other metriodvania I have ever played, it is freaking hard. The game punishes you for not exploring and upgrading. You have to take the game slow or you will die. This game is full of colorful characters and areas and awards the player for finishing a boss with new moves and gives you the idea of "now I can go back to that area!".     Antes de nada, si tienes una Nintendo Switch y todavía no has probado esta obra maestra, te la recomiendo encarecidamente, independientemente de que seas fan del género metroidvania o incluso si nunca antes has probado un juego del género (no te preocupes, yo me he iniciado en el género con este juego).

    Mi análisis va a estar enfocado en la versión física del título, pues es por la que    Antes de nada, si tienes una Nintendo Switch y todavía no has probado esta obra maestra, te la recomiendo encarecidamente, independientemente de que seas fan del género metroidvania o incluso si nunca antes has probado un juego del género (no te preocupes, yo me he iniciado en el género con este juego).

    Mi análisis va a estar enfocado en la versión física del título, pues es por la que me decanté, y mi valoración final del producto es la siguiente:

    - Nos encontramos con un juego que por sólo 30€ te incluye una carátula reversible con un diseño impecable, el cartucho de juego, UN MANUAL EN COLOR DEL JUEGO Y UN MAPA. No sabéis lo emocionado que estaba al descubrir que el juego venía tan completo, como los juegos físicos de antaño solían ser, y por un precio tan asequible.

    - En segundo lugar el plato importante, el juego en sí mismo. Nos encontramos con una historia y ambientación que son magníficas, presentan un diseño artístico que es completamente brillante. Por otro lado la ambientación musical del mismo es otra obra maestra que funciona incluso de forma independiente al videojuego. Siguiendo para rematar el combo, su duración puede alcanzar perfectamente las 50 horas como mínimo (yo personalmente voy por las 100 horas), presentando también una rejugabilidad alucinante gracias al nuevo modo de juego que se desbloquea tras completarlo por primera vez. El nivel de progreso y dificultad está muy bien medido de principio a fin, cuanto más avanzamos en la aventura vamos adquiriendo más habilidades pero al mismo tiempo los enemigos van siendo más difíciles.

    En definitiva, es uno de los mejores juegos que he jugado en toda mi vida, está en mi top 10 sin duda y lo dicho, si alguien ajeno a este tipo de juegos como es mi caso tiene una valoración como esta, es porque los desarrolladores de este juegazo han sabido cómo hacer un producto en condiciones, muy digno de ser recordado este Hollow Knight.    … Expand

    This is the definition of a perfect game. After you play this, every other Metroidvania just doesn't feel as good. The world, the soundtrack, the characters, the story telling, it has everything. Also the game its very challenging wich is a huge bonus. Absolutely deserves 10/10 score.

    I picked it up a couple years ago when I first bought my switch, and have played through it multiple times since. It's not perfect, but for the price tag it might as well be. The art style is beautiful and unique, and every area feels distinct in both appearance and sound design. You are never hand-held through an area either, rather gently directed with your skills and upgrades making different areas accessible, or more easily accessible, as you go.

    The controls are tight, and there are so many collectibles, which makes it a very satisfying game to 100% (or 112%). Most bosses are challenging, but their moves can be learned with practice. It can be a difficult game, but from my experience you get better as you learn move patterns, and you can always make things easier for yourself by taking the time to explore and gain new skills/strengthen your weapon and spells before returning to a particularly difficult boss.

    The story is a good one, but also very subtle. You have to go searching for it if you want the full picture. Most clues about the lore are hidden behind lines of dialogue, inside collectibles, or on the lore tablets you encounter. The main explanations that you get to the full story are locked behind optional challenges, such as extra bosses or the platforming nightmare of path of pain. The writing is sparse and placed with purpose, which means your journey is rarely interrupted and therefore your immersion is rarely broken. Characters are also fun.

    Definitely pick it up if you have the chance. The game is very content heavy, with Hallownest expanding more and more with every area unlocked, and free DLC. Super fun to play. :)    … Expand

    There are many Things to explore. It can be a whole new Area but also maybe just a little secret.
    The free DLCs are all there and bring some fun Challenges. You can just play it trough once and put it aside but if you are bored you can pick it up again and just try to beat harder Challenges like getting 112%. When i first started playing i was like "Im never going to do that" and well i ended up doing every Boss no hit. The Game also has some flaws so its just a 9.

    One of the best games I have ever played. Hard, but fair and with a huge world to explore. The controls felt precise and rewarded mastery. The bosses were exciting and varied. The lore was deep and mysterious and the whole experience was engrossing. There were the occasional confusion on where to head next, but that typically didnt last too long.

    The world is masterfully built, and you'll want to explore every nook and cranny. The lore is there if you want to discover it and is incredibly captivating. The soundtrack is superb and the whole artistic direction is really something to behold. A nice touch is how everything makes sense in the game world, for example how you unlock and build your map up, placing markers on it, etc.

    From top to bottom this is a wonderfully put together game, and will reward anyone willing to invest time into it.    … Expand

    Team Cherry really blew us away. Hollow Knight has a large, sprawling map, with many secrets to be uncovered; weather it's a stash of Geo or a lore tablet, there's always something to find. The gameplay feels so controlled, and combat, against almost any enemy, is challenging. Hollow Knight is definitely a trial of skill and mastery. All for $15.

    This is by far one of the best games I've ever played in my entire life. The game itself starts with no more the jump and hit. It feels like you're really weak and that's the beauty of the game. Every single 'upgrade' you get, you feel much stronger.
    The game is huge, there are five endings and should you want to see them all, you have to get good. I spent easily more than 200 hours and I still didn't finish it all.

    My initial experience with Hollow Knight was one of feeling lost. I ended up in the Forgotten Crossroads not knowing what to do or where to go, I didn't have a map, a dash a double jump, I had a short weapon and no sense of direction. I ended up in the Forgotten Crossroads not knowing what to do or where to go, I didn't have a map, a dash a double jump, I had a short weapon and no sense of direction. In all honesty, I didn't like it, combat seemed too simple and the feeling of being totally lost with no objective made me feel alienated from the world, I had a hard time feeling invested in the world which I knew nothing about.

    After an hour or so about meandering about I found my way to the False Knight, the boss of the zone and killed them with no real difficulty and decided to push on, I was close to giving up on the game at this point, but there were things I could see and places that looked interesting so I continued.

    I'm so so glad I did, the scenery went from bland and desolate to a lush green forested area filled with lots of tiny crumbs of lore and world-building, that made me want to know more, after fighting the second boss I was sure I wanted to finish it to see what was going on, I was interested in the story but still unsure about the gameplay.

    Until I reached the Mantis Lords. This was the moment the gameplay clicked for me. The patterns weren't hard but they were fast. It was the first real roadblock in the game, it took me a while to beat it but I felt great when I did. That is what every boss fight felt like from then on, Tough but rewarding.

    A few things that I haven't mentioned yet.

    The soundtrack is breathtaking. Every zone has background music that fits it perfectly, From the calm tracks in Queens Garden and Greenpath to the flat-out creepy ambiance in Darknest nothing was out of place. The Boss themes were something else altogether. Without going too deep into music theory I'm just going to suggest you watch 8-Bit music theory's youtube videos on it, I feel It truly made me appreciate the sheer amount of thought that Christopher Larkin put into making the music.
    The story is given to you through the environment and interactables in the world, and there is a LOT of story to unpack, if you're looking for it, quite a few friends of mine were unsure what was going on at the end of the game and went back to find out. A good youtube channel to check out if you're in the same boat is Mossbag.

    Hollow Knight is my favorite game of all time. I got it on offer and I felt like I ripped the developers off. I would have felt the same way if I paid full price.

    What upsets me most about the reviews on here is the fact that so many people give the game negative reviews. It's understandable though I almost never got to the parts which made the game click for me. For me that's the only thing that missed the mark, you're supposed to feel lost because you are, You're supposed to feel weak at first because you are, and that's not quite for everyone, If you can get over it you are in for one of, if not, the best gaming experience you're going to have for a long while.

    If I could have any wish granted it is that I could forget ever playing Hollow Knight so I can experience it all again for the first time.    … Expand

    Secondly, the late-game, by the time i was done with the main "story", there were still a lot of things to do and i wanted to do all of them, and for the most part i enjoyed the particularly the godmaster expension, but a lot of the late-game stuff just felt... boring, like there wasn't really anything interesting to do aside from the pantheons and the colosseum.
    Withe all that, hollow knight is still an amazing, worthwhile experience that you should try    … Expand

    This game does everything super well, the combat is simple, yet precise, the visuals, music, and sound design create a perfect atmosphere, and the sense of accomplishment you get from the metroidvania style of progression is huge. There's no world I've ever been sucked into like Hallownest's.

    Lovely game. It's Hollow Knight,. Honestly at this point, I'm not sure of anyone who's deep into Metroidvanias who hasn't heard of this gem. Beautiful art, beautiful environments, a masterpiece.

    Easily one of the best indie and Metroidvania games. If you like games like Metroid, I would definitely recommend this game. The game can be quite challenging at times as well. However, hollow knight is not perfect. The shop system in the game in my opinion is not that good, as you will have to go back and forth between shops quite often, which adds quite a bit of unnecessary backtracking.

    This game deserves 10. It's just the best Metroidvania game I've ever played. The backtracking is the only problem here, but it cannot discredit my score, since soundtrack, characters and challenges are just incredible. Some people say this game will be forgotten, because it is just a standard Metroidvania game. For me, it was a remarkable experience.

    Amazing game. Love the graphics, music gameplay and atmosphere.
    Can be a bit challenging in places but always worth the time learning the moves and best way to get through

    My complaint is that you respawn at the last place you saved if you die and the save points aren’t always convenient and you have to waste some time going back to where you were to recover your soul which is frustrating. And also, you can get killed by your own soul. Also don’t know if its an issue with the joy cons but jumping on those teeny tiny purple mushrooms was a real pain.

    I don’t know if it’s just me but I wish that the lore was more of a focal point in the game through dialogue with other characters or introduce some cutscenes etc. I couldn’t be bothered to read the journals so for me the game was mostly story-less.

    I like that as you learn new skills you start putting the pieces together and realize that you can reach new parts of the map that you couldn’t before. There were only a few bosses which I found annoyingly difficult but the vast majority of them were a fun challenge and I like how they are all very different from each other. Obviously the style of the game is beautiful and the soundtrack is really good. Collecting things is rewarding and I have to say that my favourite part was saving the grubs     … Expand

    A great game let down by a poor map, and I love the map-drawing thing but getting around the world is cumbersome. And it's easy to get lost. Some great bosses though and a lovely atmosphere.

    La verdad hollow knigth es un juego maravilloso la música es hermosa escuchar nuevas melodías al explorar nuevas áreas las peleas contra jefes donde si dominas los patrones de ataques lograrás vencerlos este tipo de detalles y más cosas que puedes descubrí por tu propia cuenta son lo que hace que le de esta puntuación a hollow knigth para mi el juego perfecto

    I love Hollow Knight. It’s a fantastic game with a great art style, music, and gameplay. Hollow Knight also has a lot of content considering the price of the game.

    I don't think it's a perfect game, but considering the price I have to give it a 10. The world is huge and is very fun to explore, it's easily one of the best Metroidvanias out there.

    Hollow Knight is an incredible achievement that combines smart game design, a rich world, and sharp combat, with an enthralling insectoid world and a story just begging for you to find it. Team Cherry’s title is a high watermark for Metroidvanias, as the satisfying abilities and countless collectibles add variety and meaning to exploration, rewarding every discovery. Yet, while the challenge is a rewarding part of the process, I do wish that the title made some concessions and shone a bit of light in the darkness for those first fledgling steps.
