I love XCOM, but this game was horrible. I can't see how to navigate at all, walls and such are in the way constantly. And the UI is beyond bad. It's a chore to purchase stuff and at one point I thought the game had bugged out since it threw me back at the title screen. Then I realized I had to click Campaign and choose a branch. And just the logical placement of buttons is simply bad.I love XCOM, but this game was horrible. I can't see how to navigate at all, walls and such are in the way constantly. Played a few missions and then deleted it, but really wanted it to be good since I love XCOM and love western. Don't buy this. Expand

Story from the start stinks. Combat had some positives but story and general wonkiness is not worth your time.

Very similar to Xcom yet obly differences are in ambiance the way enemies worlds and humans look and different story but takes away ambush functions and many reward functions for individual members like Xcom enemy within it has its flaws and ups but comparing to xcom it has a bit more flaws than ups atleast in innovation and following xcom like a guide for that.

I love this kind of games and I have to admit that I was eager to buy the Game for the Switch after reading and watching reviews. I did buy it on a massive discount for just $2 instead of some $20 and boy am I glad I did not pay full price.
I think this game has some great Ideas in terms of Story and the idea to add some text adventure style game play but it fails in some other areas.

If you're characters are in a confined space such as a House, it is very hard to actually see where you can move and still have cover. Moving around the camera is often not helpful at all. Either a fully free moving camera or a Zoom would have been awesome.

You certainly could get past the Camera issue if the game would be a bit more fair. You quite often place your character in a position with cover and with a pretty much clean sight to the Enemy (no table, chairs or anything in between, yet you only get a 50% hit chance. Other times your enemy is on the second floor and with you directly beneath and you get a 100% hit chance. Or you decide to rush a room, move in with the enemy right in front of you, you can shoot and you WILL miss... why ?? That does not make ANY sense at all.
Hard West could have been a very good release for the Switch, I like the ideas, the graphic, the theme.... but, in my opinion, the Developer messed it up.
I would have been mad if I payed full price but for $2.... it is essentially just like a spilled Coffee. Even though I really WANT to like the game, I just can't.
If this game is on Sales in your region for under $10 you may want to have a look otherwise stay clear. Hopefully XCOM will fare better on the switch than Hard West.

While its combat design isn't perfect and the enemy AI could be better, Hard West’s supernatural-tinged Wild West shtick offers a great way to get into the XCOM formula without relying on too many random factors. And with the Scars of Freedom expansion pack included as standard, there are plenty of ways to exercise your itchy trigger finger on the go.
