  • Summary: Spring is the season when cherry blossoms flutter about and celebrate new encounters. A girl was about to knock on the door of a private high school, "Private Hakuo Gakuen," which has an educational policy that goes against the tide of the times, to be a proud samurai.

    The girl's name is Chizuru Yukimura. However, even though the school opened its doors as a co-educational school this year, there weren't many girls who wanted to enter this academy, which was an all-boys school until last year. She became the only female student at the school, and her hurried yet slightly sweet year was about to begin.

    Pleasant and fluffy are great ways to describe Hakuoki SSL: Sweet School Life, as it is a light otome building on the characters we know and love. This does mean that Otomate and Idea Factory go in assuming you know everyone, so some character and relationship development is omitted. But if you do know about this series, it is absolutely worth it to get this missing piece of the puzzle and get to enjoy romances with love interests knowing it isn’t going to go as tragically as the historical Shinsengumi tale did.
