  • Summary: Harness the power of dark energy as you, jump, slash, shoot and bombard your way through an army of alien soldiers and killer robots in an arcade style, action platformer with a slick 80's synthwave soundtrack.

Gunborg: Dark Matters is a fantastic twin stick platformer, with a ton of variety and frantic twitchy action.

Hard but never unfair, short but intense, classic but well-made, Gunborg: Dark Matters has all the charm of a small indie production. Only the lack of content tarnishes the final balance sheet. Between the lifespan limited to two or three hours if one does not seek to maximize the scores and the shyness of the narration, Gunborg necessarily leaves an aftertaste of too little.

While its core gameplay loop is strong, Gunborg: Dark Matters doesn’t do a lot to set itself apart in a crowded field. You can definitely have fun for a few hours, but before you know it, you’ll be getting off this ship with your cargo in tow. Still, while it lasts, Gunborg provides a great looking, excellent sounding, adventure that plays pretty well to boot.

Gunborg: Dark Matters is challenging and pays homage to arcade classics well. It reminds you of the games that used to run out of coins and chips due to complicated controls and enemies that punish you for any mistake. Recommended for anyone who likes a challenge.
