Grood is a fast-paced shooter that’s fun and easy to pick up and play. It comes with two warnings: it’s highly addictive, and it’s very challening.

It has a minimalistic but appealing design and a really cool progressive metal or Djent style music. I recommend to set down the effects volume to 30 %. You can take some hits but without an energy bar, you do not know how much you have lost or left. Quite particular for a shmup game, there is a day-night cyclus, making it more difficult to detect enemies in time at night. The first savepoint is reached after the first three levels. From then on the game saves after every finished level. You have an unlimited number of tries restarting the level after death from the beginning. Also exceptional for a shmup, there is no constant pattern of appearance of the enemies. The game is challenging. There is only one difficulty: hard. You can collect weapon upgrades and additional weapons. But the Gatling cannon remains the best. Curiously, those rare healing medipacks do not appear until you are severly damaged. So, it´s a tough little shoot em up game. It´s not perfect but a nice indie game. It´s at 4.99 € in the Nintendo eShop. I bought it at 0.99 € and I did not regret it, would buy it again! Full Review »
