    Buggy, slow frame rate, overall **** port. I can't believe rockstar let this happen. $60 to top it off. I was super stoked for san Andreas I haven't played it in years. What a let down. I'd rather play it on mobile

    This game was over-hyped and was released being very buggy. I've experienced issues ranging from graphical issues to severe frame rate drops(especially in GTA III). Do not buy and if you did, call Nintendo for a refund saying how bad this game is.

    The game can't handle even 30 fps while driving, and all the bugs that are on all platforms...
    I do prefer the original ones being ported, that's how bad this trilogy is...

    These games were fine on PC... just a little outdated. I still played them, but I was excited for this release, especially being able to play on the go on Switch. But anyone giving this a good review on any platform is either a bot or has never played a videogame before. The Switch port is especially egregious. Vice City looks the worst by far.     Absolutely unplayable piece of crap. I’ve expected some mixed experience, but this goes beyond any expectations. The game is slow, buggy and and graphics is even worse that it was on PS2 back in a day. Even my old iPhone runs the mobile version better.

    Absolutely not worth the $60 asking price. Wtf is this Rockstar? Are you just thieves now? The switch port is such a pisspoor excuse for a port. Super blurry, horrible frame rate, loads of pop in. This game looks worse then the original did.

    Would by the game again, runs great on the switch with no bugs for days now. All the games are a lot of fun and worth $60 all together.

    Acid vomit. Never seen as many bugs in my life (except Cyberf*ck 2077 maybe). Also removing the originals from digital storefronts, following the **** move with Warcraft 3 reforged, rockstar truly earned it's placed in the 9th circle of Hell.

    First game of GTA to come to Nintendo Switch and is one of the worst games this year. If you want to play GTA Vice City, SA or lll just play it for free on emulators rather than buying this thing for 60$

    It’s really that bad. This is a buggy, laggy, crash-prone port and the pre-launch review embargo suggests that the developers and publishers knew that this was going to be dumpster fire at launch. Sad!

    Absolutely a terrible cash grab. Blurry mess, frame rate is all over the place. many glitches that just make the game unplayable on the switch. Looks like they used an AI to upscale everything and that was it. Didn't even look it over. I was granted a refund from Nintendo.

    When promised a DEFINITIVE edition, I expected a labour of love from Rockstar Games, a collection celebrating their franchise. Instead, they release versions looking and performing worse than the originals. The games in this collection are among the ugliest games ever made.

    Just don't run for more than 2 minutes. The moment the frame rate needs to increase the game shuts down. Rockstars worse job & I genuinely think unacceptable for the charge! The modders the sued did a better job and it's shown them up massively. Rockstar used to be fantastic but no longer. Refund requested and I hope they can turn the tide for their business..

    Do not buy this game in its current state. Bugs (old and new), crashes and overall a poor piece of work from the devs. This is a Christmas cash grab with the old 'we can patch it later' attitude. If the Nintendo eshop had refunds I'd be applying for one. As it is I'll just have to hope that patches and updates are forthcoming to male these games worth my time.

I suspect the publisher didn’t dedicate enough time and resources for Grove Street Games to remaster 3 games for 7 different platforms, the package feels rushed and broken.     It's got some issues that need to be patched, like pop in, some texturing and character models. Definitely fix up the framerate. Not as bad as people are making it to be though.... I'm enjoying the trilogy quite a bit on switch.

    The fact that there is a glitch where you drink Sprunk cans from the same machine too many times, you're game crashes and CAN'T be loaded up ever again, why should this get anything higher than 0? Hell, this game should be in the negatives. Good job guys. You got GTA on the Switch. Too bad you suck at remastering your ****

    Before this release, Grand Theft Auto 3 and Vice City were approaching unplayable inaccessibility and San Andreas was showing its age. These definitive editions put enough shine on these games to make them worth revisiting. And for the first time, you can now play these genre defining games on a Nintendo handheld console.

Also, frustrating loading times (this happens in GTA San Andreas if you enter or exit an interior of some building). If you are Nintendo consoles and Grand Theft Auto fan, you can choose GTA: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition, but if you have a still working original GTA CDs or DVDs or digital versions of them for Windows, Xbox, or PlayStation, I'd highly not recommend to get The Definitive Edition unless you're a fan of this "definitive" mess of glitches and issues.… Expand

    The sun soaked orange tint of San Andreas has been removed. Game is    Terrible character faces straight out of a Lego game. Blocky and clunky. This is downright lazy game design. The main characters are smooth and well designed. Everyone else looks like a block of wood or a potato. Glitches everywhere. There are so many typos in the game. Words, signs and businesses have misspelling's.
    The sun soaked orange tint of San Andreas has been removed. Game is glaringly clear, no fog. Rain looks like falling MILK from the sky, to the point its actually disruptive and gamers have to stop playing until the rain quits.

    No love went into this game. No care to detail. No passion.
    This is a half assed, rushed cash grab.

    I have bought the trilogy for the Switch because I loved to play all 3 games when I was younger and wanted to be able to play this wherever I go. (TL:DR below)

I also notice a lot of people following a hype of critisizing the trilogy just for the sake of criticizing it and stating that if you buy the trilogy    I have bought the trilogy for the Switch because I loved to play all 3 games when I was younger and wanted to be able to play this wherever I go. (TL:DR below)

    I've seen a lot of negative reviews with various reasons and some are valid. I also notice a lot of people following a hype of critisizing the trilogy just for the sake of criticizing it and stating that if you buy the trilogy Rockstar will keep stalling GTA VI (mostly see this on 9gag). I think this is nonsense and I have bought it anyway.

    Being able to play 3 nostalic GTA games on the Switch is great and although you can see that there are some downgrades on the switch compared to other versions it still looks good. So graphicswise I would give it a solid 8/10.

    The story is there and you can see they didn't change much from the originals storywise and gameplaywise apart from the controls and auto-saves which I am glad they implemented in the trilogy. Which for me is also a great thing because I didn't want anything different (storywise) compared to these games I played years ago.

    There are bugs. So far I have found nothing game breaking. Some bugs are however very annoying like the texture bugs on characters (weird glow through their head or clothes or the roads becoming weirdly dark and some character models including NPC's look a bit odd). Also there are some missing textures here and there like the missing bridge in San Fierro rural area.

    The game runs good on switch but could use an update in frame rate. You will notice that when you start driving the game will sometimes drop in framerate to numbers that will make driving more difficult. I think if they would add the original fog the original games had (with a bit more field of view) the games will benefit and there will be an increase of fps. I however am not a developer so I don't know if this would actually work.

    If Rockstar (Groove street studios) would work out the bugs, textures and fps I would rate the game 8,5/10 or 9/10. For now I'll leave it an 7/10.

    Also I see a lot of people complaining about the price tag. I bought the games for €60,- which of course is quite a lot of money for older games. However if you break it down you only pay €20,- for each game which is not bad for a remaster. I would however like to see the games sold sepperatly for €20,- each for those that are not interested in the complete trilogy.

    TL:DR:
    Great to play on the switch but there are some bugs and frame rate issues to solve in order to get an higher rating from me.    … Expand

    The game supposed to look outdated, there was some visuals improvements but is unforgivable the way it was delivered with so many performance issues, dips in frame rate is for sure the one which bothered me the most. After so many last generation ports we've seen on switch I can only regret buying this 60 dollars unfinished piece of crap.

    It's hard to believe how they turned three absolute classics into a pile of garbage. Rockstar and Take2 don't give a damn about gamers and their expectations as long as the money keeps flowing into their pockets. The Switch has gotten so many terrific ports of AAA games, but this is an insult. I'm glad I put my money into Fire Emblem Three Houses instead of buying this junk at full price.

    Why bother trying to make “improvements” on these legacy titles if it cannot outperform the original reincarnations? This attempt at visual and gameplay improvement means nothing if they cannot be executed properly. I would’ve been content paying and playing the original ps2 or pc ports of these games. This product leaves me feeling cheated out of my money by rockstar and grove street games. Lesson learned, never purchase a digital game before reviews and video content is created to showcase it in action.    … Expand

    There was actually a time when R* was on the cutting edge of gaming technology. That time has long passed. This switch version is an incomprehensible mess of broken frame rates and unloaded textures. It’s nasty of R* to sell this mess to their fans, & it’s messed up that Nintendo would even allow this on their store.

In VC and SA, the issue doesn’t seem to be quite as intolerable, but nonetheless they are still just white streaks flying across the screen instead of something that actually resembles rain drops. You could go through the r/GTA or r/GTATrilogy for 5 minutes and spot 30 bugs players have found, which vary from immersion breaking to game breaking. There are removed songs and animations in each game, the most egregious of the animations being everything muscular CJ does now. And as far as missing songs goes, the company that made this game has amassed an unbelievable amount of wealth, and it’s nothing but laziness and greediness to not work out licensing for the ACTUAL DEFINITIVE SOUNDTRACK. The games’ audio received almost no polish. It seems the only thing actually done to change these games from what they were before is the graphical appearance. When these games were current, they were the best looking PS2 era games around. With the “Definitive” editions just released, they are still nothing more than the best looking PS2 era games. The only changes to make gameplay any smoother are the free camera, and free camera drive by controls. By today’s standards, GTA 3 is next to unplayable. Nothing about it feels good. It was a chore to complete, and it’s a game from my childhood that I have incredibly fond memories of. I even go back and play the original version once every 2 or 3 years, along with VC and SA. These games deserved improvements to make them appeal to the generation that didn’t get the chance to play them when all the hype surrounded them. Instead, we’ve gotten 3 bug ridden messes from a studio that already ruined the 10 year anniversary edition of, arguably, everybody’s favorite game, San Andreas (I prefer VC for the story, and SA for gameplay). If changes aren’t made VERY soon to fix performance issues, and eliminate the dozens of bugs players are coming across, I think the legacy of these games will be tarnished, and the reputation of all companies involved will be questioned of laziness and greed. tl;dr: It’s a rushed mess. It is incredibly apparent they needed at least another 2 months to have the games properly built. And now, instead, we’re going to have to wait and hope that they add patches that we should’ve never had to wait for in the first place.… Expand

    This trilogy game doesn't run well on switch. Nintendo switch can barely play these 3 titles, but they didn't deserve the platform. Rockstar is a massive company, but they are really lazy. No I'll never buy the game until they fix all fps and glitch issues

    Io l’ho comprato per Switch perché non ho resistito, è da 4 anni e mezzo che sogno di averlo su Switch, e adesso mi ritrovo ad averlo ottimizzato malissimo. Va a 30 fps che non sono praticamente mai stabili, soprattutto se si guida l’auto. Spero facciano degli aggiornamenti che migliorino la grafica perché giocare con questa ottimizzazione è vergognoso… Il gioco ha    Che delusione…

    Il gioco ha continui cali di frame e quasi mai a 30 fps.
    Quando guido con la pioggia il terreno diventa a tratti verde come se la scheda grafica della Switch non riuscisse a caricare le texture. Inoltre mi è capitato di attraversare dei muri come se fossi un fantasma.
    Se fossi uno sviluppatore mi vergognerei del lavoro svolto.
    Spero che ci siano Patch correttive.

    Sconsiglio pertanto l’acquisto, tranne se uno lo vuole a tutti i costi portatile sacrificando l’ottimizzazione.    … Expand

    This a horrible port. DO NOT BUY THIS!!! The frame rate dips to 20 FREQUENTLY, while driving the dynamic resolution drops SEVERELY. It turns into a blurry mess. The game is UNFINISHED and it is very obvious. This game needs a lot of work. Wait until it gets it.

I agree with reviews that say the audio on San Andreas is bad it really does sound odd and it’s worse then the original. San Andreas in my opinion seems to be the most buggy of the 3. I have spent some time Playing all 3 of the trilogy and I feel that once the bugs are addressed it will be more then fine to play as long as you get your head around that it really hasn’t been remastered at all. All you are getting is the original games which do unfortunately have to many bugs which is annoying and disappointing from Rockstar. I still feel that once this is addressed to have these 3 classic on a handheld console like the switch isn’t something to moan about. In docked mode against the Xbox series X version, you wouldn’t chose the switch version docked at all there is a clear and noticeable difference in the graphics and game play and I wouldn’t play any of the 3 games in docked mode over the versions on the PS5 and Xbox as obvious as that may be. However taking into account the Nintendo switches capabilities against other consoles then it’s not an awful game as long as Rockstar and Grove street address these bugs and issues quickly then it will be playable and enjoyable in handheld mode. But to round off - Rockstar should never have called these games a remastered version they should have just gone with a re-release and been honest rather then promising so much and then not delivering.

    the game should have been delayed for the bugs to have been addressed and to have released a polished game and the price tag of £50 on the switch is to much £30-£35 would have been more realistic. So wait to see if the bugs are sorted before you buy and manage your expectations against rockstars claims of a remaster it is not that it is more of a re-release of PS2 versions    … Expand

    Vice city and San Andreas have the weapon wheel right? How come we cant have all 3 weapon sets when gta online literally has 5 guns at least per slot? The graphics are ok to my liking but im seeing that the rain is **** killing my eyes no matter the game. Also how come we pause the game in gta 3 and in vice city that it literally makes san andreas sounds and not the literal original sounds of the pause menu in vice city and 3? Like there's so many damn things i wanna rip on this like how gta 3 on the switch doesnt **** have cheats yet every other console does? And again the **** weapon wheel people i mean come on i know im not the only one that feels that way about the weapon wheel not being able to have all the weapons in the game considering gta v has way more guns in each slot i find that **** like its super **** easy to program bro

    Очень плохо. Графика была неплохой, но в порте игры на Nintendo switch ее уничтожили. В кац-сценах освещение поломано. Игре нужен ремейк, а не ремастер.

    This remastering of the three classic games is rather terrible. At first play, they seem perfectly fine, but once you get into game-play is where the flaws start to show. Missing textures, frame-rate issues texture mis-alignments, horrible pop-in, barriers and other objects fail to load in visually, and even the breakable barriers aren't tied to their models, as they break away but visually stay put. When moving Claude around, it's possible to count all of the frames of his animation, since the frame-rate seems to be unlocked from the originals' (you'd think they would put extra time in to add some in-between frames of animation). It seems, based on other people's feedback this is only the tip of the iceberg. I would forgive this if it was limited to the Switch itself, as it's a much different platform than the others; however it seems the issues plague all platforms, regardless of power. The radio stations in the latter games don't even have all the original music, what was in the original releases so long ago. Surely, a company as well known and money-flush as Rockstar could have put a little aside for a new license for those songs?

    From what I've heard from others, the game was data-mined and it appears the songs are still present in the game's files, they are just disabled and skipped whenever they are called to play by the game. Any of the fog that was present in the games before is basically gone, leaving one of the more well-known games, San Andreas, to go from a massive-feeling world to looking like Lego Island 2. At least you can see your house (and more) from Mt. Chiliad, with the increased draw distance, for what it's worth (even though it kills the vibe).

    Now, I want to be fair, at least somewhat. The games themselves are great, there's a good reason why they are held in such high regard. This pack was to be a massive visual upgrade for these old games, breathing fresh life into them. The explosions look great. The light poles have proper physics when breaking, and cars have reflections in all three games. Trees aren't 2 images stitched together anymore, they all are modeled. Grass textures were also added, to add a bit more detail to the knolls throughout the game. Windows in building textures also have reflections. The dynamic lighting is great, too, providing proper shadows for near everything. Character models also got an upgrade (though in several cases that's debatable). An upgrade to the controls as well was done, to provide an easier was to play the games without the clunkiness. Vehicle and weapon models are also upgraded, and they look really good. The audio was to be swapped with uncompressed versions, too, and in Dolby 5.1 Surround (where reasonable). The frame-rate was also to be better than the originals' were.

    Unfortunately, it doesn't live up to everything that was promised. Bordering on false advertising, I feel like I may have been scammed, but surely a high-profile company wouldn't stoop to such a low level, right?

    And to top it all off, this package was made by the same studio which made the first remasters of the classic trilogy, they just re-branded themselves. I don't want to believe that these are just the old remasters with a slightly better polishing job, but I can't help the thought get louder the more I play.

    Grand Theft Auto? It most certainly is. The Trilogy? Absolutely, it is. The Definitive Edition?

    Foi uma longa espera pelo retorno da série GTA aos consoles da nintendo, e o resultado nao poderia ser mais decepcionante. Frame Rate caindo a quase zero, em um jogo de 2005! Num console de 2014! Em san andreas nao tem nem como usar cheats. Foram capazes de piorar a experiencia que é jogoar os classicos ao extremo. Meus parabens pelo trabalho porco Rockstar.

    I was very happy that they decided to include Nintendo in this release, but it's personally frustrating that the first time that these titles arrive like this: graphics are what I expected, nothing special but good nontheless for the system.
    But the performance is horrible (unstable 30 fps, blurry gameplay, crashes...). It makes me wonder how much time did they spent on this version...

    Seeing the results makes me wish they just released the originals in HD. Wait for the physical release and let's see if there's a patch by then, because rn it's a mess...    … Expand

    If you expected a half-assed port, then you’re pretty on the mark. There’s a lot of strange issues that crop up across all three games. Texture pop-ins are pretty standard. I honestly wish they’d just ported the gen 5 versions than let another studio “remaster” them.

    These are all great games, some of the most influential AAA sandbox games of all time. I cannot in good conscience recommend you play this version, especially if you wanted to check out the Nintendo Switch version. It’s quite ironic that unnecessary and ugly visual overhauls make these ports of PS2 games almost unplayable on this system. I hate to be cynical, but I don’t think you could salvage these things without redesigning everything from the ground up. Grand Theft Auto deserved better, and you deserve better than to waste your money on this.

    In its current state, the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is only worth getting if you can get it at a large discount and assuming you’re willing to put up with many technical issues on Switch. While a lot of the major bugs I ran into have been addressed in patches, this is still nowhere near as good as it should be given how important these three games are to gaming in general. It also doesn’t help that the Switch patches are delayed compared to other platforms.
