    Just terrible! Rockstar have tainted their brand for good. The only way for this to be restored is if they humbled themselves and rebuilt this game from the ground up. Not even GTA 6 will fix this mess, yuck!

    A shockingly bad port of three great games from the PlayStation 2 era. While the games ARE playable, the games run at such a low resolution that it often makes things hard to see. Honestly, porting the original games would have looked far better than this mess.

What I had hoped would be a fun game to have on the go turned into being the worst purchase I’ve ever made with my Nintendo switch. There’s more than a few Indie games with a fraction of the budget and manpower that run circles around this lazy effort and atrocious “final product” rockstar/grove streetThe only thing worse the the GTA remakes are the GTA remakes on the Nintendo Switch!     Charging for minor upgrades from a game already milked to high heaven.

    Other company's offer visual upgrades for the next gen consoles for free.

    And also, they are now introducing a subscription service for the game as well!

    Here we are after the physical release and the game is still a stuttering mess without a word of further updates from Rockstar.

    The announcement of GTA 6 doesn’t change that this horrible trash is still unplayable.

It is a shame to see that greed for money in its purest form led to such a shameful product, staining the formerly good reputation of Rockstar. One of the most hideous and absurd aspects about all this is that this product is called "The Definitive Edition". It should be taken off all stores immediately.

    The game formula still works and is entertaining, but there are a number of bugs and game crashes that show how little effort was put into producing this games; issues that must be addressed so the game can be played as well as the original versions.

    The Switch version of the game, has more awful downgraded graphics, and looks blurry, unlike my own PC version, i can blur a graphics a little bit and make custom config file to optimizing it and use Reshade graphics to sharpening graphics better than this Switch port.

    Most of the issues is also can be seen from the PC port i reviewed before aswell.

On top of that the game doesnt even run at 720p. This game is a complete buggy unpolished mess, there is no excuse for it running like this.     Horrible. Unacceptable for even an indie studio This is worse then Cyberpunk, there are so many bugs and glitches on a 20 year old game. How is this even possible? Grove street games is terrible should have never been allowed to make this. The pop in in the switch version is god-awful. Makes it harder to drive as cars just pop back in.

Os áudios são os mesmos. não atualizaram para ter opção, de poder trocar áudio antigo e novo. Inclusive os áudios estão todos misturados, pois o áudio do GTA San Andreas está nos outros jogos. Muitas censuras que deixaram os jogos descaracterizados. Jogabilidade, que prometeramOs 3 jogos estão horríveis, nós gráficos com os bugs dos lançamentos originais, e novos nesse lançamento. Heck, even the radio lacks some music from the original games (I know it is a copyright thing but combined with all the graphic abominations it all leads to no nostalgia whatsoever). And only $60?? I can't believe they actually have the audacity to spit on their long lasting fans and customers faces like this.

The game absolutely horrible, the framerate is absolutely horrid and don't get me started on all the bugs from the MOBILE PORT; it was notoriously abhorred by all the OG GTA players and speed runners alike, because of all the problems it has and the multiple instances that may lead to a softlock or saveBy god and all that is holy, Rockstar what in the world were you thinking!? The game absolutely horrible, the framerate is absolutely horrid and don't get me started on all the bugs from the MOBILE PORT; it was notoriously abhorred by all the OG GTA players and speed runners alike, because of all the problems it has and the multiple instances that may lead to a softlock or save corruption.

    The good things I can literally count on one hand; the gunplay is now much better on the first 2 titles (GTA III & GTA:VC), the lighting and shades are rather nice if not too much sometimes, the car models look nicer with their wheels looking more like wheels, I personally loved the quality of life additions from GTA:V with the weapon wheel and radio wheel... That's all that is good...

    The models are laughably bad, modders made free mods that tool less polygons and looked 30 times better (then Take2 & Rockstar decided to DMCA takedown these mods, because f##k our community, right?), the CHONKY EYEBROWS are just a joke, the glitches are all still there, the bugs were never touched, if anything they introduced EVEN MORE BUGS, the missing fog that gave this game that feeling of extreme size now makes it feel so tiny, the audio issues are insane (character audio balance is broken, audio cutting too early, etc...), milk rain, the A.I upscale textures are practically useless and have made things worse in many situations, models are janky beyond jank; ask Ryder's broken arms bones or any of the Grove gangsters that look like Patrick Star...

    GTA the definitive edition is definitive alright; definitively nailed the last nail in Rockstar's coffin for me and many others, and this is the last time I buy anything from their selection, I already filed for a refund and waiting on it because I was promised one thing but was given the bootleg version of it, Avoid it like the plague!    … Expand

    I do not forgive Rockstar for what it has done to us. I've been waiting a long time for this remaster and I don't understand how they have been able to deliver these mediocre new versions. GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas were iconic... they don't care about these games but they are selling them for almost 60 Euros.

    Its a shame. Poor optimisation, lot of bugs, and glitches. Due to the age of the game, it would have been appropriate to bring a minimum of 30 continuous fps on each platform. There was no gameplay preview at all. That could have been a warning sign.

The graphics are ok in my opinion (for a switch version), but unfortunately, the framerate goes always lower than 30 fps, it is sad, it's impossible to play and enjoy. I really really hope the rockstar improves it with some update.

    Que decepção, um clássico de 2003 destruído em 2021. Jogabilidade privem, personagem que parecem manequim de sexshop, o áudio dos veículos está semelhante ao jogo Enduro do Atari de 1983, Porque a empresa na segui o exemplo da Capcom com o remastered do resident Evil. Não compre, desrespeito com a história dessa geração 2003.

    Esto me paso en el Gta Vice City:

    Muchas veces no cargan las texturas del mapa, tiene errores graficos
    Se traban los vehiculos en los arboles.
    Aveces se queda en la pantalla de carga.
    El personaje atraviesa el piso, etc.

    Y hoy se me corrompió la partida guardada, basicamente es el juego original con un mod de texturas pero sigue con los mismos fallos de siempre. No vale la pena.

    This trilogy just sucks on switch. You can forgive the art style but it runs at a very low resolution, and never hits 30fps. I would say it hovers at 20fps-It's unplayable atm. Wait for an update! It's just a bad version, best I can say it.

    From what I heard they are very good games and if they fix the performance issues I happily come back and give them a second go and adjust my grade.

    Literally the WORST version of the trilogy. I would rather pop the discs into my PS2 and witness fuzzy visuals but have ZERO frame lag and ZERO ghost car popups to derail my progression!!!! Also these HIGHLY UNLIKELY "ACHIEVABLE" achievements are terrible. The one mission in GTA 3 (mind you, I have beaten GTA 3 on, PS2, PS4, AND IOS...) requires you to take two Leone Members and take out 3 Triad Warlords. To get the achievement for this mission, you must keep both Leone members alive; easy enough, HOWEVER, you must enter the Triad factory using a Triad commercial truck to get in WHICH ONLY HAS 2 SEATS TOTAL. So after finishing two of the Warlords or whatever, I proceeded to take the truck that would allow me to enter the warehouse, leaving one of the Leone Members out to dry. Long story short, they deemed the member dead even though he never entered the warehouse with myself and the other member. If I cared enough, I'd reply the entire game to achievement hunt on ANY other version, except this one. At this point, I am playing to just finish and never come back. WORST GTA Experience EVER. PLEASE PATCH

    ***Edit: The IOS Version i played was on my IPod Touch back in 2013 and yes that version held up, this one, not at all. To add for those that will read these reviews; I understand this is the Nintendo Switch version, but I literally have put almost 100 hours across 2 different switch consoles into Skyrim and can say a game made for 360 and that is a more expansive single player experience runs excellent and should recommend Skyrim to those that are looking for some nostalgic single player roaming at a great performance and visuals over this heap of poop.    … Expand

Quite a few things actually. In a word, this port can be qualified**** here we go again... and we seem to go in a quite disappointing way, specially given rockstar average quality standards! I tend to wait for game reviews prior to perform a purchase, but this time I naively thought "c'mon is rockstar! and is the classic trilogy! what could possibly go wrong to regret this purchase?..." Quite a few things actually. In a word, this port can be qualified in one word: Poor.

    There are some good additions on this port.

    - Biggest highlight (bittersweet) - The GTA games are finally on a Nintendo platform, sth which did not happen since Chinatown wars on DS. (There are downsides which will be elaborated later in the review.

    - The lighting additions and refined shadows and textures improve the visuals compared to the original ports.

    - Some of the icons are being reused from the mobile editions, which is quite refreshing. Not a big upgrade, but welcome nonetheless.

    - The weapon wheel, maybe the most welcome addition, together with GPS marked road and the refined controls. It makes a quite decent alignment in game controls with later installments, specially GTA V.

    The original experience of GTA is (almost) untouched. Is good to be back. But that's about it regarding bright sides. In fact, all of the above have their negative counterparts, which add more than one pain or unpleasant surprise which blurs the core experience of the game.

    - Coming back to graphic additions, most of these can be found in cars, and some characters having different clothing colours, but dont get too close to the faces - they lack any kind of detail or expression- Many times it feels like a 2012 remaster rather than 2021's... The change on textures also brings new bugs on the scene: Strange violet/golden textures overlapping in our clothing and other textures ( I saw a tree becoming pink in groove street). Some other textures are even creepy (have you seen Cesar Vialpando's hands looking somehow like Edward Scissorhands?? GOD)

    - Second remark on graphics, the resolution is terrible... On handled is already poor, but many games suffer this issue (even Mario Odyssey). I was playing my first days on handled, and I was hoping that things would be much more detailed on docked, but I was VERY wrong... Feels that the resolution stays the same...

    - Some of the icons came from mobile, together with the new controls for the gym weights or lowrider/dancing moves... It went from challenging tasks on the original to far too easy (and even boring) on this version...

    - The weapon wheel does not come complete, meaning we cannot have two weapons of the same type like we can have on GTAV. The GPS tracker works sometimes. The controls feel clunky on many occasions, and is IMPOSSIBLE to do free aim! Super bad adjusted sensitivity. You better enabled classic or assisted aim, and pray to be lucky when on missions which require free aim...

    - The streets are much emptier than usual, and the elements on the screen appear much later. Things change completely if you rotate the view around you, going from a street full of npc's to none or viceversa...

    Overall, and as I already pointed out, this port is very poor, and I just hope they may add patches to cover some of the defects which perturb coming back to these three games (now for the first time I hope they wont port GTAV to Switch, cuz given my experience with these games, it could be PAINFUL)    … Expand

    I can't believe that this game was even considered for a release on the Switch in this state. The original made so many years ago looks universally better, and this "Definitive" release has NOTHING definitive about it. DO NOT get this.

Rockstar are known for their obsessive attention to detail, to the point of overworking their developers on stupid stuff like horse balls. How the hell can they turn around and give their crown jewels to a company that does mobile ports and nothing else? Avoid this collection at all costs.     I'm so disappointed. They remove the fog from the definitive edition of GTA San Andreas. And the audio sound so bad on the switch. I always get confused that which button are the drive by controls. The rain effect doesn't even look that great. The character model look different, to many bugs and iusses and it became unplayable to play with this version. Shame on you Rockstar, shame on you.

    In many ways the switch version actually looks worse than the PS2 version, both in terms of art style and performance, and the frame rate drops and hitching might actually be worse than the original.

    This is my personal biggest disappointment since cyberpunk, but in a lot of ways this is actually worse. Rockstar has the money, they could and should have done better. This is truly an embarrassing blemish and while I'm sure it'll still sell well, I would highly advise against purchase, at least until we see how committed to updates they are.     This game was over-hyped and was released being very buggy. I've experienced issues ranging from graphical issues to severe frame rate drops(especially in GTA III). Do not buy and if you did, call Nintendo for a refund saying how bad this game is.

    Absolutely unplayable piece of crap. I’ve expected some mixed experience, but this goes beyond any expectations. The game is slow, buggy and and graphics is even worse that it was on PS2 back in a day. Even my old iPhone runs the mobile version better.

    It’s really that bad. This is a buggy, laggy, crash-prone port and the pre-launch review embargo suggests that the developers and publishers knew that this was going to be dumpster fire at launch. Sad!

    These are all great games, some of the most influential AAA sandbox games of all time. I cannot in good conscience recommend you play this version, especially if you wanted to check out the Nintendo Switch version. It’s quite ironic that unnecessary and ugly visual overhauls make these ports of PS2 games almost unplayable on this system. I hate to be cynical, but I don’t think you could salvage these things without redesigning everything from the ground up. Grand Theft Auto deserved better, and you deserve better than to waste your money on this.

    In its current state, the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is only worth getting if you can get it at a large discount and assuming you’re willing to put up with many technical issues on Switch. While a lot of the major bugs I ran into have been addressed in patches, this is still nowhere near as good as it should be given how important these three games are to gaming in general. It also doesn’t help that the Switch patches are delayed compared to other platforms.
