The Switch version of Gekido Advance is a pretty good title, especially considering the price. The Italian NAPS team added a bunch of stuff and new content that will be appreciated by everyone, even by fans that played the original release.

Gekido on Nintendo Switch is the same, good, beat 'em up played on GBA in 2002, with better graphics, sound and multiplayer mode. Great job Naps Team, once again.

Gekido Kintaro's Revenge is a game that will delight fans of "me against the neighborhood", as well as those players who are looking for a challenging and different game within the genre. It’s also tremendously entertaining to play cooperatively with a friend.

Gekido Kintato’s Revenge is a curio in its position as a Game Boy Advance game brought to a modern home console. The update is totally fine - the sprite graphics look great, the music is good - but the gameplay is an artifact of older days. That’s fine if you just want to sit down for a challenging beat-’em-up with a friend, but if you’re looking for something modern and fresh, Gekido isn’t that. It’s just an alright retro remake.

It may be a mediocre brawler of its time, but it does have a certain energy to it, and the light adventuring elements do make it unique from anything else of its ilk. The bonus dungeon mode is the real main attraction and playing with a friend makes things more interesting. Kintaro's Revenge can only be recommended, though, to gamers who understand that this is a port of a Game Boy Advance title that has not had much done to its presentation.

Gekido: Kintaro's Revenge is a love letter to the original Game Boy Advance game that many probably didn’t notice was pushing the envelope as far as graphics, animation, music and presentation were expected on Nintendo’s 32-bit handheld. As such and despite excellent added extras to this Switch package, it stubbornly restrains itself in the past and as is only truly recommended if you fell nostalgic towards the original game.

Gekido Kintaro’s Revenge is a very simple beat-em-up which probably didn’t warrant a physical release on Switch. Unfair gameplay, unsatisfying visuals and sloppy proofing work mean this is one to miss.

It's truly playable, it has local multiplayer, it has great retro visuals and cool music... and it's CHEAP. So... what are you waiting for? :)

EDIT: About gameplay, the game's mechanics aren't boring, thanks to a dose of platforming, exploration, and extra modes... it's a remaster, yes, but a very good one.

The combat in Gekido: Kintaro’s Revenge feels fantastic, juggling is easy and satisfying to do, you have a range of special move combos to learn and even a special “keep away” attack to help with crowd control.
It is responsive, vibrant and really hearkens back to the greats of a genre I love it.
Relic Hunter sees you exploring randomly generated dungeons in search of Relics, like every other mode this is fully playable in Co-Op and adds so much to the games length.
It’s worth tackling after you have done the story as it’ll throw late game enemies at you from the get go, overall it’s a tough but fantastic game mode and one I will continue to work through time and time again.
If you love the genre, Gekido: Kintaro’s Revenge is one of the titles you have to get, the combat is great and the soundtrack is superb.
