Jul 13, 2017It’s perhaps stepping on Super Bomberman R’s toes at a fraction of the price, but Flip Wars scratches that multiplayer itch and is an absolute blast to play locally. There are currently some kinks to iron out, particularly with online matchmaking to fully use all the player slots, but with updates a possibility it’s certainly one to keep an eye on to see how things develop.

Aug 17, 2017Flip Wars is yet another fun party title from Nintendo. Alas, just being fun doesn’t justify a purchase. Many of the concepts used in Flip Wars are interesting but lack the depth or volume for me to call them anything greater than a concept. It may be worth revisiting in a few months after some heavy updates.

Jul 14, 2017Flip Wars is a multiplayer game that win by playing it this way. Its great deficiency is in the lack of modes of games and alternatives for a single player. Even so, it can be a great option to keep in mind for family gatherings and with friends.

Aug 9, 2017Flip Wars is a good bit of multiplayer that's fun in short bursts, and does offer something of a challenge to single players - even if the game itself is incomplete for the moment. It’s certainly one to keep an eye on as the features start falling into place, especially since you can expect Nintendo to support this one with content for months to come.

Aug 17, 2017Over Fence has an average game on their hands with Flip Wars. There is so much potential here for bigger and better things, but for the time being, it’s fun and worthy of parties. If you’re into multiplayer games, it isn’t a bad choice at all. That being said, patience is key when waiting for matches to start and actually playing them. It has only been available for several days now so the fan-base is slowly developing. If purchasing Flip Wars, make sure you have others to play with in person or good enough internet connection to play online. The free access to Nintendo’s online connection is limited, but at least you can enjoy it with friends.

Jul 20, 2017If we were to give a definition to Flip Wars, the most consonant could be that of "aperitif game".
-
Jul 17, 2017Flip Wars is an incomplete video game. The base is solid and fun, bu it lacks in gameplay modes and sensation of progression.
-
Jul 16, 2017Flip Wars has a very solid foundation, but a lack of content that makes it look like an early access game. Once it feels finished, it can be a good option.

Jul 10, 2017Flip Wars has a great premise for multiplayer fun, especially for local battles. Joining your mates huddled around a Switch the concept works nicely, but in an age where online gaming is bigger than ever you'd think a game like this would nail online play at release. Instead there are missing game modes and spotty online connections will put some people off this very enjoyable title. Due to its early access-like feel it might be worth saving your pennies for a few weeks before splashing out on Flip Wars, to see if the promised future updates will actually deliver the modes that aren't available right now and iron out the kinks in servers.

May 24, 2017Battle Sports Mekuru has the heart of a good multiplayer game, but the variety isn't there yet. With three simple stages and many incomplete modes, it is a really hard sell at the moment. My suggestion is to wait until after the game has gotten some updated. At that point, I am more than willing to give the game a second chance and see how the package stands. As of right now, I can only recommend Battle Sports Mekuru to those who play a lot in tabletop and TV modes with other people. It is where the game shined brightest for me.

Aug 23, 2017I have played a few local battles, but have not put much time or had much luck finding any games online. There is also a My Room area where you can review your stats for the game as far as number of times having played each mode, number of panels flipped (gets into the thousands fairly quickly), and how often you have visited the three arenas. Flip Wars is very basic title no matter how you slice it. From the ho-hum presentation to the lack of any real depth in any of the modes, this is a borderline textbook casual mobile game. It doesn’t do much for me, but if you’re into this kind of game, you could spend $10 in less enjoyable ways.

Nintendo Force MagazineOct 30, 2017It feels a lot like they took one game out of Mario Party and attempted to make it a full eShop title. [Issue #30 – November/December 2017, p. 20]

Aug 18, 2017Flip Wars isn't a bad game, it's a painfully mediocre one with an appalling lack of overall content. The Switch might be the perfect place for a small, simple multiplayer game, but Flip Wars doesn't offer anything new or different enough to justify itself.

Aug 16, 2017Flip Wars is a very simple, shallow party game. It’s not actively terrible, but it barely offers anything to do. It only costs $9.99, so if you think it looks really fun, it might not hurt to buy it. Someone else might like it more than I do. But personally, for that amount, I’d much rather have Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment, since that offers far greater enjoyment over a longer period than the few minutes I had with this game.

Jul 25, 2017Flip Wars is fun enough to ensure some well spent sessions of local multiplayer, with some of its influences becoming visible in a very positive light. Unfortunately it also feels unfinished to a certain degree and the disappointment left in its online multiplayer ends up harming one of the game's potentially greatest assets.

Jul 10, 2017There are some titles that have high replay value despite their simplicity, but Flip Wars is not one of them, as this is nothing but a simple mini-game turned full game. In other words, while this is definitely cheaper, better save that pizza money for Splatoon 2… or pizza.

Nov 2, 2021Very fun with a group of friends, this is what video games used to be about - simple yet competitive.
