Game sounds like some extremely lazy work from a money grabber company. Not all characters are present during the scenes and you might end up talking to portraits of important characters that are not even there because it was too lazy to make a model for all of the important characters. The combat system is really the only thing that must be saved. Music is ok but compared to theGame sounds like some extremely lazy work from a money grabber company. Company is just money grabber. Considering that for the same price i can buy Ghost of Tsushima amd the Deluxe edition doesen't even contain the season pass which is worth more 60 bucks plus all the costumes dlcs it is clear they want to make money over prudish content. To lower my review more the day one patch that censored pantyshots ruining the game immersion with black void under the girls skirts. As a conclusion do not buy the game unless it is on a huge sale under 20 bucks. It is not worth your money Expand

It's so boring. I've never played such a boring game. I feel like I'm doing The Last of Earth Part 2.

While the visuals are nice even on the Nintendo switch the game suffers from glaring issues that need to be addressed, i left this review until now as i wanted to give the Devs the benefit of the doubt and let them fix it however that is not going to be the case any time soon it seems.

While the visuals are nice even on the Nintendo switch the game suffers from glaring issues that need to be addressed, i left this review until now as i wanted to give the Devs the benefit of the doubt and let them fix it however that is not going to be the case any time soon it seems.

The story begins just before the time skip which leaves alot left uncovered for anyone who doesn't know the story of fairytail, while that is well and good for fans the regular player won't get much insight on characters or anyone.

Issue 1. The battle system for this game is slow for the franchise they have made the game of, fairy tail is very action packed and story driven, the gameplay should resemble as such, while they have the story down the game should have been an Action RPG instead much like the "tales of" games. however the battle system IS solid for what it is.

Issue 2. CENSORSHIP, with the first patch the game was censored in most if not all regions when advertised STILL to this day as uncensored. this is a betrayal and only serves to make it look worse where the censor makes it seem like the characters have no underwear on and at some points no clothes, this is made worse when considering they have swimsuits which show ALOT more in the game and as paid dlc. this brings me to my next Issue.

Issue 3. they locked STORY COSTUMES that are a PART OF THE STORY behind the digital deluxe edition and after many emails with Koei Tecmo it seems they only MIGHT release the costumes separate for anyone who wanted the physical copy, this is an issue as i have seen many people not wanting to continue when they arrive at the grand magic games as it looses it's "MAGIC" (heh) when they aren't wearing the correct outfits while everyone else is.

Issue 4. the costumes are STUPIDLY overpriced dlc, when you buy a full priced (or here in Australia more than full priced given full price here is usually between 60 - 100 and they are charging 105 for the standard edition) you expect to have most of the costumes unlockable through story progress (like the grand magic games costumes should have been) or at least moderately priced.

I will give them this, they have released patches since launch fixing issues i have raised with them, however when it comes to the digital deluxe costumes and censorship it is as if my comments and emails fall on deaf ears, i will give this game a 4 for the voice acting, story and great animations, however unless at least the dlc and other issues are resolved minus the 1st as that won't be resolved with this game. i can not give a higher score, if the issues i raised are fixed i will happily change my score.

Gust’s Fairy Tail game is one of those adaptations where it feels like the developer really understood what people love about the series.

While coming in at the end of the 11th story arc of the show might feel like an odd starting point, the game does a good job with a quick introduction of the characters. While it may leave some questions if you are unfamiliar with the series, it still gives enough information for newcomers to enjoy; Fairy Tale enthusiasts will certainly have no trouble knowing what is going on. Fairy Tale is certainly a solid game on the Nintendo Switch.

For fans of Fairy Tail, I recommend turning on a podcast and smashing some monsters with your favourite Fairy Tail characters while filling up various experience bars. Not a fan of Fairy Tail? Then I don’t see much to keep you around. Some of Gust’s charm and design comes through, but not enough to make the game stand on its own. The story is likely to be almost incomprehensible without prior knowledge, and corners are cut in all aspects, from the environments and quests to the combat. I enjoyed my time with Fairy Tail less than I thought I would, but I sincerely hope Gust gets another chance at making a licensed RPG, just without all the budget cuts.
