Like the series, this **** is braindead. It's not a fighting game. Those take skill though you could say this one takes a li'l bit o' that, but not much when you get the basics down.

The autocombos are pure cancer. You can mash 'em, the light ones either have massive range or a goddamn vacuum effect or both, and some of the medium ones (like Hit's medium autocombo) do a **** ton of

The autocombos are pure cancer. You can mash 'em, the light ones either have massive range or a goddamn vacuum effect or both, and some of the medium ones (like Hit's medium autocombo) do a **** ton of damage. It's one of many things that really kill the game for me. As simple as the move execution is, there's little point to it when you can just crush your skull against the controller to get the same if not better results. No practice mode needed not that you need it in a game where everyone uses the same basic **** For On top of that, the light attacks got **** range. It doesn't help that defense options are nonexistent. The only thing you got is either down heavy, blowback via Sparking Blast (that's usually one time use in a match unless Shenron exists), or this gay li'l swipe that doesn't even stop your opponent's attack spree, so it'll often just work to their advantage anyway. Who the hell thought a lack of defense was good? Usin' it for ki blasts is mostly pointless when you can just Super Dash through 'em. Sparking Blast is broken as all hell too, makin' everyone stun your block absolutely for free as if defense wasn't already wack.

As for the other **** the story mode is lame, the combo challenge ain't even a goddamn combo challenge. Goin' against CPUs is hella inconsistent as they could either perfectly combo into all kinds o' **** or run right into level 3 supers. Online is a hell no without a near perfect connection. Some characters could've had different costumes kinda like Videl with her ****ty long hair.

And now, after all the updates, this masher of a game will quickly die off like Smash Bros. The only thing that'll remain of its name. I guess no one makes fighting games anymore, only Nintendo system. This game should've been a 1-on-1 type o' game. The characters would be a lot more unique compared to the half-assed potential of what's in this game. **** the developers who made this anal prolapse called a game. Time to move on from this boring-ass tragedy.

Could be the best ever but it's so fast you miss the action and fun of the fight . then you find out most of the game is DLC ! No not Down Loadable Content . No now it's - Developer Locked Content ! You have to pay more to get the fighters that are already on the disk witch you already payed for . They make you pay more for Goku etc ?

Beautiful graphics, responsive mechanics, and frantic gameplay are mixed together in Dragon Ball FighterZ, a superb 2D fighting game that adapts the iconic Akira Toriyama anime in a very competent way. Despite the uninspired story mode, it presents engaging and accessible mechanics that can be enjoyed by fans and newcomers alike.

The Switch version performs identically to the PS4 and Xbox One versions, running smooth as silk, sharp as ever and with no input lag when playing with Joy-Cons, the Pro Controller, in docked or in handheld mode. Surprisingly, online battles (no Nintendo Online subscription needed) work flawlessly, absent of even a hint of lag or stutter. And even at odd hours (yeah, I was playing at 4am, what of it?), I never had any issue finding an opponent to battle against. Dragon Ball FighterZ is a AAA port of a AAA game, and the Switch version is definitely the one to get.

This is the long sought-after bridge that links fans of the anime with hardcore virtual pugilists, and it deserves to serve as the template for all future Dragon Ball fighting games. [Issue #36 – November/December 2018, p. 88]
