Dec 24, 2018A great 2D fighting game. Fantastic visuals and addictive gameplay. The Switch port is an outstanding result which is almost identical to the other versions.

Oct 13, 2018Picked this gem up a week ago. Spectacular game! Many abilities to learn and master with each character. Reminds be of Final Bout and Ultimate Battle 22 two decades ago for the PS1. Artwork and graphics are also unique and designed from scratch, unlike many seemingly copy and paste Dragon Ball games, This game shines brightly and will be a challenge for me for years to come!

Oct 5, 2018Game runs amazingly smooth. Occasional slow downs when walking around the hub city and slightly longer loading times compared to PS4 or PC, but the combat is a smooth 60 fps. Perfect way to take DBFZ on the road.

Oct 20, 2018An incredible masterpiece. The best game of the Dragon Ball franchise, and one of the best fighting games ever. Adittionaly, this port is perfect.
Simply stunning! -
Nov 6, 2018My first Dragon Ball game and certainly it will not be the last. I liked this game very much so that I started reading the manga. It is one of the best games to play in the handheld mode. Simple but deep fighting mechanics, funny characters, beautiful graphics and not bad story mode...

Jan 14, 2020Last year I guess that was best year of fight games. In fact, DBZ Fighterz isn't a simple port por switch system. The game runs smootly docked'n handheld and the game system's awesome.
DBZ FighterZ will be enjoyable game if you want a faithful fight game about DBZ. I recommend this game for anyone and especially for switch owners.
Only history campaign isnt a good.... -

Sep 30, 2018Could be the best ever but it's so fast you miss the action and fun of the fight . then you find out most of the game is DLC ! No not Down Loadable Content . No now it's - Developer Locked Content ! You have to pay more to get the fighters that are already on the disk witch you already payed for . They make you pay more for Goku etc ?

Apr 26, 2021Great fighting game, love the fighting mechanics . Artwork and sound are also really well done. It captures what made Dragonball(Z) so great! I would have given this an 8 if it weren't for the heavy focus on DLC and Microtransactions.

Aug 21, 2019A high octane fighter and one of the best on the Switch. What makes this version much more better than the PS4 and Xbox? The fact that its portable! Another KO to Sony and Microsoft.

-
Dec 4, 2022very good fighting gameplay, very good fighting animation, the best dragon ball game
-
Aug 14, 2022The fights and the combos are great, one of the best fighting games, but the story is boring and repetitive.
-
Dec 31, 2021I haven't dealt with the Dragon ball universe for a long time. This game is more than just a fighting game to me. It's a nostalgic experience that will definitely make me come back to this universe again. Cool animated graphics and cutscenes. Beloved and famous characters. Additionally, an extremely simple and spectacular combat system.

Sep 21, 2022The game is very good for what it is, the only problem is that if you play online and encounter an Ultra Instinct Goku or Ssj4 Gogeta, prepare to get spammed. That is why I gave it an 8.

Nov 20, 2022Overall - 4.5/10
Difficulty - Medium
Platform - Nintendo Switch
Replay Value - 5/10
Gameplay - 6/10
Hours Played - 4 hrs
Extra Notes: Story mode's is not the best; there's better fighting games. -
May 27, 2023This game is good, the only thing holding it back is the insufferable gameplay of 90% of players. Some players are good and a pleasure to fight, but the others are all auto-combo or c assists spammers, and it holds back this game a bunch. If the meta was better, this game would be perfect.

Mar 6, 2020Beautiful graphics, responsive mechanics, and frantic gameplay are mixed together in Dragon Ball FighterZ, a superb 2D fighting game that adapts the iconic Akira Toriyama anime in a very competent way. Despite the uninspired story mode, it presents engaging and accessible mechanics that can be enjoyed by fans and newcomers alike.
-
Dec 17, 2018The Switch version performs identically to the PS4 and Xbox One versions, running smooth as silk, sharp as ever and with no input lag when playing with Joy-Cons, the Pro Controller, in docked or in handheld mode. Surprisingly, online battles (no Nintendo Online subscription needed) work flawlessly, absent of even a hint of lag or stutter. And even at odd hours (yeah, I was playing at 4am, what of it?), I never had any issue finding an opponent to battle against. Dragon Ball FighterZ is a AAA port of a AAA game, and the Switch version is definitely the one to get.

Nintendo Force MagazineOct 29, 2018This is the long sought-after bridge that links fans of the anime with hardcore virtual pugilists, and it deserves to serve as the template for all future Dragon Ball fighting games. [Issue #36 – November/December 2018, p. 88]
