    Digimon Survive is a wonderful blend of visual novel, tactical rpg, and mystery games. It does a wonderful job of blending multiple mechanics in a way that is unique and helps drive the story forward. This game is absolutely amazing in the way it takes choice based story telling to a new level with their combat system. If you enjoy a game with a deep enriching story that you can playDigimon Survive is a wonderful blend of visual novel, tactical rpg, and mystery games. It does a wonderful job of blending multiple mechanics in a way that is unique and helps drive the story forward. This game is absolutely amazing in the way it takes choice based story telling to a new level with their combat system. If you enjoy a game with a deep enriching story that you can play through multiple times, this is the game for you! The mechanics of the game are easy to learn too, so anyone can get into it, even if you’ve never played a game like it before. This game is everything they told us it would be, no real surprises for anyone following the news, which is good. The game is quite fun and a great read/play.… Expand

    Encuentro muy injusto que la gente esté dando notas negativas solo por ser una novela gráfica, la historia que cuenta es bastante interesante y si bien el gameplay es básico, no siento que necesite de más para lograr ser muy disfrutable.

    Not a huge fan of visual novels, but I like this. Digimon are cool, combat is fun enough, and I like the characters.

    Metto 10 perché il gioco lo sto amando, sono un grande fan dei digimon e mi fa incavolare il fatto che la gente lo stia bombardando di critiche quando bastava INFORMARSI per capire che il gioco era già stato studiato per quello che è. Punti e clicchi, ti godi la storia con delle colonne sonore della madonna e vivi un bel Tattics Game come si deve con ricchi colpi di scena.     It's closer to a 5 but need to combat people giving it unwarranted 10s. While a novel effort, story is shallow.and for somerhing credited as a.visual novel it may be one of the least compelling i've ever played, with little to no player choice, bland characters, and a juvenile plot that misses what makes digimon deep.

    The story is great. Love the Bioware-esque consequence system. People complaining about genre should just go back and play that kind of game if that's what they're looking for.

    Aside from the long story which if you actually looked anything up you would've known it was a 7 to 3 ratio. This is what I always thought digimon could actually be, incredibly dark and twisted. The game can be balanced out by playing free battles to enjoy the combat and when you progress through the game the battles become much more fun as you fight stronger people.     An amazing story game with srpg elements. Highly recommended for visual novel fans as the art style and music is absolutely unreal and really captures the emotion of the story. Digimon Survive is a brilliant starting entry for Digimon into the srpg type of game and I hope there are more in the future.

    Interesting mix of VN and tactics. If you like these genre’s, you will love this game. The atmosphere and music are top notch and moving. I really enjoyed cyber sleuth and this is just another take on the digimon universe in a new form.
    If you enjoy tactics, Digimon and VN story building , play this game.

    Dont listen to the review bombs. They are upset about it not matching the earliest marketing concept statements (kind of). If you've paid any attention to the game closer to release you would know it is a visual novel with battles and if you bought it without knowing that, it is very much you're own fault for not looking into what you are buying as it was very easy to find info.     Seré sincero, mi opinión sobre este juego es muy buena. Si bien estamos de acuerdo que no es un juego para todo el mundo acostumbrados al típico RPG de la saga o entrena a tu Digimon como fue con algun que otro juego de la desarrolladora, la narrativa es muy buena, tiene una historia espectacular que merece ser leída desde luego y el combate por turnos... Ok, sin más, pero como bien eSeré sincero, mi opinión sobre este juego es muy buena. Si bien estamos de acuerdo que no es un juego para todo el mundo acostumbrados al típico RPG de la saga o entrena a tu Digimon como fue con algun que otro juego de la desarrolladora, la narrativa es muy buena, tiene una historia espectacular que merece ser leída desde luego y el combate por turnos...     True to what they do. If you haven't watched any of the shows or played any of the games you would get it! If this is your first time then that's great to. There is nothing to complain about other than poor advertising. From day one they said it was a visual novel.

    Digimon sSurvive does a wonderful job at immersing you in its narrative, with gorgeous art and a story that would stand comfortably alongside any season of Digimon. This is my first time playing a game that is primarily a visual novel and it really has me feeling like I was part of the story and l carefully selecting my responses . Alongside that is the tactical rpg gameplay, which IDigimon sSurvive does a wonderful job at immersing you in its narrative, with gorgeous art and a story that would stand comfortably alongside any season of Digimon. This is my first time playing a game that is primarily a visual novel and it really has me feeling like I was part of the story and l carefully selecting my responses . Alongside that is the tactical rpg gameplay, which I though complimented the Digimon franchise very well. Thanks to my investment in the narrative it made my choices in battle feel that much more important. I honestly haven’t had a gameplay experience quite like this before!… Expand

    Really a perfect match for me, VN combined with exciting strategic combat. VN part is really top notch and the fighting is almost as good. The darker tone and great writing is a big plus, with English voice acting it would haver been a solid 9.

    They never hid the fact the game was a VN and a strat rpg with a 70/30 split. The vn side is so good I forget sometimes that I'm playing a game and instead I'm watching a new digimon anime.

    This is a fantastic game and really is making me rethink my stand of visual novels and tactical rpgs. I'm really enjoying it and would love more games like it with even more depth

    A totally enjoyable game, a visual novel that has their on story and it seems like an interactive book, really touching history and amazing game game play, nothing too complex. this is a good comeback for the digimon saga.

    This game was CLEARLY ADVERTISED as a visual novel game. They explicitly stated it was 70/30. Now I have never played a visual novel game in my life, and play mostly fps/rpgs ( fortnite, cod, gta, god of war, horizon dawn, halo.. you get the point) so when I say I don’t like text heavy games I mean it.. except something happened. I had 0 interest in this game for the 3 years leading up toThis game was CLEARLY ADVERTISED as a visual novel game. They explicitly stated it was 70/30. Now I have never played a visual novel game in my life, and play mostly fps/rpgs ( fortnite, cod, gta, god of war, horizon dawn, halo.. you get the point) so when I say I don’t like text heavy games I mean it.. except something happened. I had 0 interest in this game for the 3 years leading up to its release, I was extremely disappointed the next Digimon game was basically a story book video game.. until peoples pre order’s started arriving early and people were praising it.. I got intrigued and started watching some twitch videos.. fast forward to last Friday and I was at Best Buy buying 1 of the only 2 copies left.. This game has me hooked. It is very dialogue heavy, but I knew that. I went into this game with 0 expectations of a good game and have been blown away. I wanted to support the Digimon ip and I’m glad I did.

    I’m only several hours into it, just starting chapter 2. But the characters have me fully invested, they did a great job introducing the characters, aswell as introducing the Digimon. The story is moving along at a decent pace, and the exploration and battles are a nice break every so often, but doesn’t pull you away long enough to lose interest, compared to say cyber sleuth where you were running around doing pointless missions 90% of the time that had no bearing on the main story. As somebody with ADHD I fully expected myself to not enjoy this game, but man was I wrong. You can fully skip dialogue sections, or simply fast forward, which for someone like me who reads to fast is great, because now I can go ahead quicker, without feeling rushed or slow down by anything or go slower if feel and just take my time. I’m loving this game. It’s exactly what I expected yet nothing what I expected at the same time. I’m glad I took the plunge and while I can’t say I’d be excited for another game like this, I am excited to see where Digimon goes next.    … Expand

    It's a good 70:30 split on Visual Novel format and TBS gameplay, and honestly that works for it. The story is a really great take on the classic Digimon isekai formula, and really adds a nice mixture into how your actions affect you and your partner.

    There are some bits where the translation just isn't great or the wording is just a bit too "hip", and definitely doesn't feel perfectly    It's a good 70:30 split on Visual Novel format and TBS gameplay, and honestly that works for it. The story is a really great take on the classic Digimon isekai formula, and really adds a nice mixture into how your actions affect you and your partner.

The Tactical RPG is there in all combat but the main story driving device is a visual novel. To that point, the characters are well designed and fleshed out, y. You quickly find yourself attached to your group of chosen and their partner Digimon.     This game is a masterpiece don’t know what the one guys problem is has beautiful graphics and has been advertised as a vn/strat rpg and does both beautifully also good story highly recommend for any digimon fan.

    Digimon Survive should have a lot of depth, with partner Digimon evolving and devolving, free-roaming Digimon to recruit, and a vibrant cast of characters who, on the surface, are generally enjoyable. Looking at the game from afar, it truly captures a feeling of desolation and nostalgia. But it comes up just short when it comes to gameplay and story—the two most important things for an SRPG and visual novel hybrid. A “Truthful” path awaits as a New Game+ option, but the gameplay shortcomings, unfortunately, aren’t alleviated with repeat playthroughs. Digimon Survive‘s charms aren’t fleeting by any means, but neither are its disappointments.

    With its mature themes, Digimon Survive provides a refreshing take on the franchise and fits into the series' canon in a really cool way. I hope we get more Digimon games exploring new directions like this! [Issue #63 – January/February 2023, p. 73]

    I love visual novels, and I love strategy games. For a subsection of gamers, Digimon Survive will hit the perfect sweet spot between both of those. It’s got everything you’d expect from a digestible entry with a focus on presentation. However, I couldn’t help but feel that the game is just shy of greatness. Make no mistake, Digimon Survive is good. However, despite its best efforts, I found that the pacing drags and the combat mechanics are unremarkable. If you have enough patience to engage with its story and gameplay, the positives will far outweigh the negatives. It’s flawed, but the heart shines through and it goes down easy thanks to being one of the best-looking anime-style games released in years. Are there better SRPGs to play right now? Sure, but none offer Digimon’s unique brand of SRPG and I think it hits more than it misses.
