    Best Story in the Series if you are a fan of the 1999 Adventure Plot line and tropes you will love this. The Tactical Combat is really fun and I enjoy the SP Management with digivolving up and down. This may be the best combat system in the series and if they were ever to take this game and turn it into an RPG like DW3 it would get a lot more players. I know the Visual Novel is a turn offBest Story in the Series if you are a fan of the 1999 Adventure Plot line and tropes you will love this.     This is my favorite recent Digimon game so far. It is in a visual novel format, and it works so well with the story and world they've designed. You unlock free battle pretty early on so you aren't dependent on story beats to get a battle fix in, and it has a pretty well-done auto battle system for when you want to grind but not be fully alert.

    The theme is very horror-esque, and it really feels like it pays a little homage to one of my favorite tactical rpg series, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor. If you have ever played an SMT game (but especially the Devil Survivor series), I highly recommend checking this game out. It's slightly more simple than SMT:DS, but it has a charm to it that more than makes up for it.

    I see people hating in the fact that it's mostly a visual novel but to me it was always going to be one based on what they originally told us. I've almost completed 2 of the endings and to say the least, I think it's an amazing game. The character devalopment and choices feel refreshing, and although it gets darker, it still feels right.     I mean if you are mad after hearing the director of the game tell you it is 70% graphic novel you are a looser and you need to get a life. Great graphic novel with a dash of strategic RPG elements, grow up you man children with nothing better to do then **** on other peoples’ attempt to entertain you.

    One of the best turn based strategy games. Digimon games become better every year, cause they mature like their audience. This game is a dark nouvelle with story which changes depending on your choices, which gives it great replaybility. 10/10

    Le faltó más trabajo en temas de estrategias y mapas para los combates tactics. Superando por un buen tanto a los juegos de la Wonderswan. Muchos finales y todos muy buenos que es muy raro decir que el final verdadero será el canon.

    Los Digimon actúan como unidades y no como digimon como tal, por eso no duele el ver muchos digimon iguales en batalla.

    Personajes muy interesantes y profundos que deberás de rejugarlo si quieres ver más allá de cada uno. Para nada expositivo, salvo en la presentación del pasado de algunos personajes para que quedes al tanto del contexto.
    Si eres Fan de Digimon y además fan de los visual novel, Digimon Survive supera con creces a muchos otros Visual novels que he jugado.

    Muy bien ahí y ojalá a futuro veamos otro juego Tactics Visual novel que nos cuente una nueva aventura y con mejores batallas sin caer en el "tortugueo"

    Un punto negativo es que por la naturaleza de los gráficos, se me hace raro que tenga rascones de FPS en ciertas partes del juego, pero totalmente jugable.

    La música para qué decirlo. Ayuda bastante a las escenas.

    For me, this is the best visual novel I've ever played (and I've played a lot). Cool plot, good dialogues, interesting narrative, cool storytelling, intriguing plot twists and very interesting ideas for the digimon franchise. And the fights. The gameplay is really cool for a TRPG. Very deep and interesting fights. 10 out of 10.

    True to what they do. If you haven't watched any of the shows or played any of the games you would get it! If this is your first time then that's great to. There is nothing to complain about other than poor advertising. From day one they said it was a visual novel.

    Awsome game. It’s like I’m playing a Digimon Anime. Really good story, very imersive. Adds a lot to the franchise. But, Be warned. The game is mainly focused on the narative and Visual Novel elements. It’s not a regular RPG.

    Great game! The VN is amazing and the story is really cool. The combat is like FF Tactics and Fire Emblem which I like really like. Got my teen girls into the game and they fell in love with the story and they like the combat since they have played Fire Emblem games before.

    Simple don't go in to this expecting a action game, this isn't Cyber sleuth/hackers memory, Next order or the world series.

    It's a visual novel with tactical RPG game play which I'm not a huge fan of either but this game blends it perfectly and the story just drags you in. It's definitely not a game for younger kids.

On top of that a good 40% to 50% of the game is solid SRPG goodness with over 113 possible Digimon to get, which is exceptional variety in this genre. The story has some surprising elements along with some really cool dialogue and interactions between the characters.

    The tactical battle elements are pretty standard (think fire emblem or devil survivor) with a few cool elements that differentiate it from other similar games. Also it's digimon. There are also a healthy amount of free battles scattered throughout that keep the game exciting if you're ever in need of a battle. The visuals look really cool, I've not played too many visual novels so I won't be able to say whether they look better or worse. But the character portraits do a really good job at making the characters feel like people. The animations are pretty limited but are present enough as to not make these sections boring. Overall as someone who has played many a digimon game, this one is a welcome change of pace. If you are a fan of the digimon franchise you'll find something for you here if not there will be a lot to love and dislike. One just needs to get past the VN taboo to find the heart that lies win this game.    … Expand

I had 0 interest in this game for the 3 years leading up to its release, I was extremely disappointed the next Digimon game was basically a story book video game.. until peoples pre order’s started arriving early and people were praising it.. I got intrigued and started watching some twitch videos.. fast forward to last Friday and I was at Best Buy buying 1 of the only 2 copies left.. This game has me hooked. It is very dialogue heavy, but I knew that. I went into this game with 0 expectations of a good game and have been blown away. I wanted to support the Digimon ip and I’m glad I did.

    I’m only several hours into it, just starting chapter 2. But the characters have me fully invested, they did a great job introducing the characters, aswell as introducing the Digimon. The story is moving along at a decent pace, and the exploration and battles are a nice break every so often, but doesn’t pull you away long enough to lose interest, compared to say cyber sleuth where you were running around doing pointless missions 90% of the time that had no bearing on the main story. As somebody with ADHD I fully expected myself to not enjoy this game, but man was I wrong. You can fully skip dialogue sections, or simply fast forward, which for someone like me who reads to fast is great, because now I can go ahead quicker, without feeling rushed or slow down by anything or go slower if feel and just take my time. I’m loving this game. It’s exactly what I expected yet nothing what I expected at the same time. I’m glad I took the plunge and while I can’t say I’d be excited for another game like this, I am excited to see where Digimon goes next.    … Expand

You will love some characters amd hate others as you try to survive in this crazy and gritty world where Characters can die or be driven insane inside a world that os of a mix of the upside down inDigimon Survive is a Isakai Horror Mystery Visual Novel Fire Emblem monster collection game that is definitely not for young children with choices that lead to a branching story like until Dawn. You will love some characters amd hate others as you try to survive in this crazy and gritty world where Characters can die or be driven insane inside a world that os of a mix of the upside down in stranger things amd the island in Lost. The story is very deep and well written an pays almage to past Digimon Anime. It's not the type of game you wanna get if your a story skipper there's maybe 5 hours of gameplay if you skip story and dont do any of the extra or monster collection. I find myself trying to hurry thru gameplay sometimes so i can get back to the story amd see what happens next. In my opinion it's atleast a solid 9.5 but imma give it a 10 to help offset all those 0 that this game doesn't deserve… Expand

    La historia va a sorprender a mas de uno , llegando a tener toques mas maduros de lo que uno puede pensar. Plot twist y situaciones que a mas de uno dejará con la boca abierta porque nadie se lo va a esperar.
    Y un factor muy importante, tus decisiones afectarán a la trama así como a la evolución de los digimons.

    One of the best Digimon games we've received, and definitely the best out of the ones that are so dialogue-heavy, in my opinion. Gorgeous visuals, wonderful music, intriguing characters who drive the story, and several different modes of play. It's true some of the game is just characters talking, but those are plot-specific moments, and it's not like that's all there is.     The game is great, ignore the negative reviews. They are made by people who clearly dislike reading. This is a visual novel so of course it's going to be text heavy, and that is a good thing since the story is one of the best aspects of Digimon Survive.

    People are so petty. This is a very decent visual novel, smashed together with an FFT game, and coated in horror paint. I love this direction and if the developers are out there: please keep going this way. I love the story heavy stuff; make a new keychain bobble for all the nerds that are bellyaching about not getting a one dimensional PS1 era monster-raising sim. Ffs.

Yes this is 70% a visual novel and yea this is not your typical got to collect them all and battle it out type of game but that’s where the beauty is. Yes this is 70% a visual novel and yea this is not your typical got to collect them all and battle it out type of game but that’s where the beauty is. Fans have always wanted a game in the Digimon or Pokémon franchise to explore darker themes, more mature content, and actually put effort into creating a deep compelling story. This is what Digimon Survive does in this game. It’s a new take on the franchise and a shot in a new direction and overall they’ve succeeded. I believe with time those who give this game a try will appreciate it for the masterpiece it is. I just hope the initial negative reviews don’t scare off those on the fence or the developers from creating a game like this again. It would be such a shame if we go back to the childish storylines and the repetitive collect them all modes with pointless grinding.… Expand

    If you like visual novels you will like this game. If you like strategy RPG combat. You will like this game. If you are only here for the combat though, this might be a tough sell. The game has a wonderful horror element and the story telling is excellent paired with the strategy combat.

This game is excellent and the detail they used on applying real world relatable themes such as the diversity in a person personality and how different perspectives would react to it a given situation. The dark theme was meshed wonderfully enough to anyone whose paying attention and can put together the story ignoring the translation errors, but any case I digress 10.0 and worth the three year wait. The only thing that would and can make this game better would be constant DLC for the game paid and non paid.… Expand

    What did people expect when they buy this game? It's a visual novel and not a shooter, the story is great with some unexpected turns. The most negative "reviews" are the ones that don't know what they buy, they would cry when they buy a book because it has words in it.

    The art and music are absolutely gorgeous: it's like watching a new season of the anime, following similar story beats including fun climactic battles and as advertised the game is mostly visual novel whereas the battles take a more conclusive role to some story arcs.

    The game takes the character archetypes Adventure layed out as well as the narrative mysteries and twists them into interesting new variations, providing a more realistic take on the setting of seven kids getting lost in another world with monsters. The result is something like Lord of the Flies, where the kids constantly argue and some even start to lose their grip on reality. It's refreshingly raw for the Digimon franchise and goes to some unexpectedly dark places in the storytelling.

    Great addition to the Digimon series. Love the visual novel elements, your choices really feel like they matter. You really feel for the characters as the story progresses. The RPG combat is also great fun as well. Would highly recommend

    A totally enjoyable game, a visual novel that has their on story and it seems like an interactive book, really touching history and amazing game game play, nothing too complex. this is a good comeback for the digimon saga.

    This is a fantastic game and really is making me rethink my stand of visual novels and tactical rpgs. I'm really enjoying it and would love more games like it with even more depth

    They never hid the fact the game was a VN and a strat rpg with a 70/30 split. The vn side is so good I forget sometimes that I'm playing a game and instead I'm watching a new digimon anime.

If you've paid any attention to the game closer to release you would know it is a visual novel with battles and if you bought it without knowing that, it is very much you're own fault for not looking into what you are buying as it was very easy to find info.     This game is mainly a visual novel with srpg elements. It is a beautiful love letter to the franchise beautiful 2D+3D environments, amazing voice actors, and gorgeous illustration. If you enjoy visual novels and rpgs, you will enjoy it.

    An amazing story game with srpg elements. Highly recommended for visual novel fans as the art style and music is absolutely unreal and really captures the emotion of the story. Digimon Survive is a brilliant starting entry for Digimon into the srpg type of game and I hope there are more in the future.

    Aside from the long story which if you actually looked anything up you would've known it was a 7 to 3 ratio. This is what I always thought digimon could actually be, incredibly dark and twisted. The game can be balanced out by playing free battles to enjoy the combat and when you progress through the game the battles become much more fun as you fight stronger people.     This game feels like watching an anime in the best kind of way. It's gripping atmosphere grabs you from the beggining and never lets go. The art and the soundtrack are fantastic. And the battles, while simple, are lots of fun. It's a great package and I'm super happy with it.

    Have been waiting for this game since it first was announced. 100% worth the wait. The characters are amazing, the story is amazing, and the little combat you do is also amazing. I love this game and hope to see more Digimon games similar in the future.

I think it any digimon fan should be able to enjoy the game but still as i said this is a special game that is to be played only by people that can withstand lots of text and slow gameplay where you should make yourself up the story and enjoy it to be rewarded with a great story and experience that you can replay on game plus to get different endings and explore different choices and evolutions.    … Expand

    Tra le migliori visual novel mai giocate, con finali multipli e avanzamento della storia in base alle scelte che si fanno. Il gioco mi lascia inchiodato per ore, anche per il fatto che dopo secoli hanno fatto un gioco dei digimon in italiano. Meccanica dei combattimenti ben progettata, con la possibilità di farsi amici i digimon avversari.

    A game that has been well worth the wait! It's a much darker story than any other Digimon game. Very interesting mix of genres :) I recommend people to give this a go if they've never played a game with VN elements.

    Digimon Survive should have a lot of depth, with partner Digimon evolving and devolving, free-roaming Digimon to recruit, and a vibrant cast of characters who, on the surface, are generally enjoyable. Looking at the game from afar, it truly captures a feeling of desolation and nostalgia. But it comes up just short when it comes to gameplay and story—the two most important things for an SRPG and visual novel hybrid. A “Truthful” path awaits as a New Game+ option, but the gameplay shortcomings, unfortunately, aren’t alleviated with repeat playthroughs. Digimon Survive‘s charms aren’t fleeting by any means, but neither are its disappointments.

    I love visual novels, and I love strategy games. For a subsection of gamers, Digimon Survive will hit the perfect sweet spot between both of those. It’s got everything you’d expect from a digestible entry with a focus on presentation. However, I couldn’t help but feel that the game is just shy of greatness. Make no mistake, Digimon Survive is good. However, despite its best efforts, I found that the pacing drags and the combat mechanics are unremarkable. If you have enough patience to engage with its story and gameplay, the positives will far outweigh the negatives. It’s flawed, but the heart shines through and it goes down easy thanks to being one of the best-looking anime-style games released in years. Are there better SRPGs to play right now? Sure, but none offer Digimon’s unique brand of SRPG and I think it hits more than it misses.
