Finally a Switch port of this amazing game. I love the character design and soundtrack, you can clearly see a lot of love and care went into this game.

Took a minute to warm up to this game, but I enjoyed it thoroughly. Has enough of a skill curb and different game types to put hours into. Only wish there was a dice roll animation.

Dicey Dungeons isn't quite a deck-builder. If it were, however, it would be the best deckbuilder on the Switch. It's often been compared to the excellent Slay the Spire, but it's much more varied, addictive and–in my humble opinion–fun than StS. It didn't let me go until I'd beaten the final boss–and that was no easy feat.

    Pros:
    * Brilliant mechanics: The game is a mix between a dice-thrower and a deck-builder–a deceptively simple combination that pretends to be all about luck, but it's actually about understanding the rules and using them to your advantage.
    * Astounding variety: Each character, level, and enemy introduces its own spin to the rules. Dicey Dungeons is essentially a simple idea twisted into dozens of variations–and it keeps introducing new radical changes until the very end.
    * Many hours of gameplay: With six characters, each with six episodes, plus one final fight, this game should keep you busy for a long time. And after that, there's always "Hard Mode", if you can stomach it.

    Cons:
    * Can be frustrating: Some levels are a breeze, but others are hard enough to be discouraging. The roguelike-inspired loop really bites when you fail the same 30-minutes level for the 10th time.
    * Sometimes, luck *does* count: Yes, this game is mostly about strategizing and managing your options–but there are times when your sophisticated planning gets undone because you encountered the wrong enemy or powerup.
    * Some levels feel repetitive: It's great to have so much content, but even with all the variations, some levels feel a bit too similar to each other.

Hi, I played Dicey Dungeons on PC. Then I heard that it's coming to Nintendo Switch. At first, I was quite conflicted. It's a colorful game with an awesome concept of attacking with dice rolls (in some way xd). Dicey dungeons is a rogue-like game with catchy music, easy to understand game mechanics, some challenging enemies and quite various pull of characters to play (game feels different while playing different characters).
I do recommend it, it's a comfy game, which is worth its price.

Great game for quick sessions with a complete run taking about 15 min. It’s like a light hearted slay the spire, but still requires strategy and has a bunch of characters with different mechanics to get good at. Sometimes the chance element dooms a run, especially with certain characters (I’m looking at you witch and robot). But overall I’m having a great time playing and recommend it.

What an amazing game! I was hesitant at first, but I’m so glad I took a chance. While the game may look simple at the outset, it wastes no time implementing clever and complex uses of its mechanics. Highly recommend. Top 10 switch games for sure. Starts off really fun but then the game mechanics turn against you quickly. After about 4 hours, it becomes impossible to get past a level.

Dicey Dungeons is a roguelike in which players roll and use dice to defeat a series of enemies in the hope of escaping the game show in which they find themselves trapped.

The core gameplay loop is fairly enjoyable to start with, but even with unlockable characters that each come with their own unique set of rules, this is a game that comes a little repetitive fairly quickly. Worth

A nice twist on the rogue "deck" (dice) builder, though doesn't have quite the lasting appeal of the leaders of the genre

It is disappointing that such a great game has been ruined by a single bad idea. I had to delete the game after some 6 hours because every new “run” that I attempt ended up in exactly the same way: 30 minutes wasted and angry. The first 3 hours were so good. I really enjoyed it. But as soon as the challenges got somewhat harder, I started failing them. Sometimes, it was even down to pure luck (bad dice rolls). The last 3 hours were a waste of my time, and I made zero progress. I would have to be a masochist to continue playing the game under these conditions.

If you think my score is too harsh, just imagine if in Mario Odyssey after 3 hours the controls got inverted (left becomes right, right becomes left, etc.). With such a change, the game would be very hard to control, and no normal person could enjoy it. Would you give that game a 5 because the first 3 hours were great? No, it would be a ruined game. That’s why it’s a zero.

P.S. Terry, if you’re listening, you know how in Donkey Kong Country, when you die in a stage, you only have to re-try that stage, not the entire world. Think about that. Think about that really hard.

I don't have much to say about this game. For what it is, it's a perfectly fine, perfectly fun luck-based RTS. The style is fun enough, and the gameplay loop is quite nice. Figuring out each character is fun! I think the soundtrack is the shining point of this game, in my opinion. Each song on the soundtrack is pretty great.
    Worth trying out, at least.

This is a difficult game to rate. I have been playing for 5 to 6 hours now and the magic is starting to wear off. I think I will probably come back to play this from time to time, but right now I am a bit frustrated. This is still definitely worth a look if you can get it on sale, especially if you like games like Slay the Spire or DungeonTop. Expand

Game is great! Very addictive. It’s a lighter version of “Slay The Spire.” You build a “deck” with dice values throughout many dungeons. If you’re on the fence about it just jump!

Dicey Dungeons is a fun and intuitive game that constantly introduces new concepts, but is way to reliant on RNG that repeatedly ends runs in ways that feel very unfair. The premise is quite simple. You explore grids that have enemies, loot chests, shops, apples that heal, upgrades for loot, and the door to the next floor. Fights involve rolling dice and using the values to play cards. This game can be frustrating since every time I play I feel like I'm just running towards my impending doom at the boss (which is not helped by Lady Luck constantly being an a** and rubbing in how much the game is rigged.) No matter how well prepared you thought you are, bosses will always roll high values and easily kill you, but there are ways around it if you're strategical. Another thing I'm very annoyed at is the addition of it being a Roguelike. This is because there is very little strategy in fights, only luck, but the purpose of a Roguelike is to learn enemy strategies and how to counter them, making permadeath very annoying. Maybe something like carrying over your loot in your equipment but losing your backpack would make it better, but nope. Just pure luck.
Dicey Dungeons does actually change things up with an interesting character class system.
    * The warrior is a regular dungeon crawl.
    * The thief steals cards from enemies each turn and favors lower dice for repetitive attacks like the Silent's dagger in Slay the Spire. He has become my personal favorite after a hilarious run where I fought an enemy called alchemist and stole a card from her that turned me into a bear that was extremely OP and allowed me to beat a boss for the first ime.
    * The Robot uses a blackjack system where dice are manually rolled and if the sum of the dice exceeds the jackpot, all equipment is disabled for the turn. However, a jackpot allows you to either heal, attack, or roll another dice.
    * The Inventor scraps loot every fight to turn them into powerful gadgets which dont require dice.
    * The Witch is perhaps the weirdest. Her loot goes to the spell book, which has six slots for each side of the dice. In battle, the dice rolled will summon the corresponding card, and another dice will be used to play it. At the beginning, Witch plays like Thief, but she quickly becomes very difficult.

Verdict: The game has a huge imbalance with RNG. Luckily, its still charming, lighthearted, fun, and has a lot of replay value. It'll probably be a perfect game with a bit of tweaks.

The game is an absolute bargain for the budget price you are getting, and there are future updates in the works too to give you even more bang for your buck. Dicey Dungeons makes the most of its possibilities. It is original, challenging, extremely varied... it manages to create with a simple roll of the dice the emotion of knowing if we can resist until the next fight. It mixes many really interesting formulas for the players.

I came into Dicey Dungeons with high hopes and I was thoroughly blown away. It’s so smartly designed in how the classes and equipment all work together to create consistently unique and creative instances where you have to squeeze the usefulness out of almost every play style and strategy. The episodic design fits it very well, because it makes the early parts far more approachable, while keeping the variety up enough that even later episodes slow you down, you still have so much to enjoy. Dicey Dungeons is an amazing game that I’d almost call a roguelike game for people who don’t like roguelikes. You do have to like turn-based combat, though. And dice.

Well, this game is just plain awesome. It’s kind of a dungeon-crawl roguelite thing, but the battles use an interesting dice mechanic that really helps the game stand out. As you make your way through each floor, you’ll find various skills that you can pick and choose from to fill out your battle actions. Each turn you roll a number of dice and assign them to those skills to use them. There are lots of different kinds of enemies and skills, and the maps themselves, while simple, have some points of interest and branching paths you can choose to explore. One of those games where you fire it up meaning to play for twenty minutes and end up playing for four hours. I’d expect no less from Terry Cavanagh, though.
