I'm rating this game a 10 when compared to other indie titles of the same price and genre. It's a procedural generating dungeons action plaform RPG at it's purest and simplest form. It's only an $8 game and will take you back to when games were a simple fun romp with entertaining gameplay. Anyone that compares this to AAA games is naive at best. Love indie games, getting the sequel after this.

I bought this title as I personally don't like ''complicated'' dungeon crawlers or rogue-like where you spend half of your time checking your stats, switching gears, etc. I like simple, but efficient game which this one is. It gets repetitive after a while and there are 2 controls to work with (jump and swing weapon), but I still enjoyed the experience. I bought this game as a "break" from playing my Triple A games. I bought it with no expectations but ended up enjoying it. I jump on for a few minutes ( an to be completely honest, a few time an hour here and an hour there) and very much like it. There's no real thinking to it you bash and keep buying gear, going down the list until you max out every piece of gear they offer. This game was extremely disappointing. The only redeeming qualities to the game are the rock-solid controls and some mildly whimsical pixel art. Well, the loot is literally just coins. And the weapons and gear are just a linear upgrade system with generic stats points. From the very first swing to the very last boss, the combat does not change a single time.

You can jump, and you can swing your weapon.

    That's it.

Not one single interesting quirk. The enemies vary slightly, and you can collect larger coins, but that is the only change in the game from start to finish.

I played through the first boss and then threw this in the proverbial trashcan. It doesn't even have a prayer of standing up to heavyweights like Binding of Isaac or Darkest Dungeon. This garbage should have rotted in the mobile phone stores where it belonged. Ratalaika Games just made my "do not ever touch under any circumstances" list for sure.

Devious Dungeon is a clear example of how to make a very entertaining game without the necessity to have a great story upon its shoulders. Its graphic style in Pixel Art is simply amusing, though its soundtrack is hardly varied even being pleasant.

Devious Dungeon features a fairly interesting progression system, along with a healthy variety of enemies for the roguelike game that it is. Alas, it fails to deliver on the rest and the result is a game that is way too simple and unambitious for its own good, without any factors that redeem it from an overall repetitive and uninteresting experience.

Devious Dungeon is straight to the point. It offers a 2D roguelike RPG experience without any unwanted clutter. If you want a title that will keep you engaged and in the action, then make sure to give this a look.
