With performance that feels like both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Dauntless is a welcome addition to the Nintendo Switch. In addition, the free-to-play friendliness of the title means that the community can only grow thanks to crossplay. The only real criticism of the game lies in the lack of endgame progression, but for a free game that is a blast to play with friends, this can be overlooked until the developer considers how best to explore this point.

Dauntless offers up a pleasant alternative experience in the monster hunting action genre that focuses on the battles without sacrificing the core appeal. If you've ever wanted to take down larger-than-life beasties to wear their hides and take down even nastier foes, but felt intimidated by Capcom's more deliberate design, then Dauntless will prove a great, enjoyable way to finally see what all the monster slaying fuss is about. The fact that it's a fair free-to-play game makes it all the easier to experience for yourself.

If you're not worried about a major story or a lot of strategy but still want to see what the monster hunting genre is like without shelling out a lot of money, Dauntless is a nice free-to-play game to ease you into things.

Dauntless is a great game dragged down by a subpar presentation. The loading and framerate could really use some work, with the hub town feeling like a slideshow now and again. Once you get hunting, however, Dauntless really comes into its own. The pure focus on hunting and looting monsters feels amazing, with fun missions and even better weapons. It thrives and pushes you constantly to completion, and slowly moves that completion goal further down the pipeline. As a free-to-play title, it is absolutely one of the nicer ones and makes for a great time with your friends.

It's hard to believe that Phoenix Labs pulled off a miraculous feat such as implementing a flawless cross-save, cross-play sub-system on the four major gaming systems! Other than needing some performance tweaking on the Nintendo Switch Dauntless is a great F2P addition to Nintendo's growing Switch library. Dauntless' design of being able to jump into a quick 4-player collaborative team-up to hunt a monster is a perfect fit for the Nintendo Switch's "on-the-go" philosophy.

Dauntless comes to Nintendo Switch with its own addictive personality and F2P. Players will have to hunt Behemoths in a magnificent port whose graphics stand out on the console.

Dauntless itself is a great free monster hunter style game, but the switch port is the most unoptimised and low res version I've seen.Dauntless itself is a great free monster hunter style game, but the switch port is the most unoptimised and low res version I've seen. Constant lag spikes and the resolution is so low that anything somewhat in the distance is about 1 pixel big. Full Review »

    Very slow in the town.
There is also a bug that makes the screen fixed so that I cannot move and see anywhere else after talking to NPC.

Apart from these, it seems to be a fun game.
