The player guides the titular gelatinous ball through levels by swinging off of trees and other falling debris with it's tongue, which is incredibly satisfying. Levels focus on allowing the player to build momentum by swinging and rolling around, while still giving the player a generous amount of control despite the high speed of movement. The world around the player, specifically later in the game, is constantly falling apart or exploding, leading to engaging and tense gameplay moments. The player is encouraged to progress through levels as fast as possible via a collectible star for beating a specified time as well as an online leaderboard.

Crumble features vibrant and pleasant visuals, making the world feel inviting and fun. The music is generally also quite nice, but does become a bit repetitive at times. Bonus levels can be unlocked by collecting stars in the main levels, each of which feature inventive and unique new mechanics and at times different gameplay styles. Performance in Crumble is generally solid enough, but does noticeably slow down at points which can hinder the player's ability to maneuver throughout the environment. Multiplayer party modes are also included, which is nice to have.

I really enjoyed my time with Crumble, it's an impressive title which features a good amount of content and replayability. The sense of control and speed Crumble provides is top of the line, and makes the title stand apart from it's peers. The Switch version isn't perfect, but is still a good way of experiencing the game despite minor shortcomings.
