An otherwise decent racing game, terrible AI choices, and rubber-banding cripple Cruis’n Blast. A real shame.

A must-rent if you own a Switch. A possible buy if shamelessly silly arcade-racing fun sounds up your alley.

A stupendously entertaining, infectiously energetic racer that could only have ever come from the arcades. [Eurogamer Recommended]

Cruis’n Blast borrows a lot from films like the Fast and Furious franchise. But as those films get higher budgets and more polished visual effects, their creators could learn from a game like Cruis’n Blast: Too much polish can conceal all the fun.

No, this isn’t a realistic racing sim, or a deep, 3rd person adventure game. It’s a straight up arcade racer, nothing but fun and speed. Drift, wreck your opponents, collect cash and keys. Unlock new cars, do crazy stunts. It’s a must buy if you love arcade racers. It’s beautifully done, graphics look great, especially for the underpowered Switch. Great game to blow off steam or play with family and friends.

We don’t have enough games like this anymore, and I’m glad to own Cruis’n Blast. It’s a fantastic port!

Set it on easy mode and if you hold down the gas you can't go wrong. There are even options for auto gas and tilt controls (similar to Mario Kart). It doesn't take too long to unlock cars if you are itching to take a ride as a unicorn or be a shark with a freckin laser on its head. For adults it is some crazy good fun. It can get pretty hard on higher difficulties. Not a huge amount of replayability and you can unlock everything pretty fast. This is a fun ride. Full Review »

The game features vibrant and bizarre locales and vehicles which helps it to stand out from other titles in the genre. Some of the unlockable vehicles are absolutely insane, and added a great deal of enjoyment to my experience. The new tracks in Cruis'n Blast are remixed versions of the original arcade courses, which offer a decent amount of variety, but I feel like for $40 a few more tracks would've been more appropriate. The gameplay itself isn't exactly the most refined, but it's very fun, and offers a good amount of replayability. Local multiplayer is included, but for some reason no form of online play is available at all, which feels like a major omission for a racing game released in 2021. Even still, there's enough single player and local multiplayer content to justify checking this one out. Full Review »
