Oct 5, 2020Tight platforming and combat, satisfying (if challenging) puzzles, and only a sprinkling of grinding (for the completionists; entirely optional). The story is intriguing, too. Obviously gorgeous with a nostalgic-though strong-score. I'm 19 hours in and hooked.

Sep 11, 2020I think this game is a lot better than the reviews would indicate. Great story, amazing dungeons (I think better than Legend of Zelda), and very fun gameplay

Jul 20, 2020Pure retro heaven but a modern take on it, it's a shooter/fighter JRPG all tied together in a brilliant package, I already double dipped on this with the Switch and XB1 versions, it's that good.

Aug 6, 2022I had some doubts about this game but after 1-2 hours my opinion changed. It's beautiful, deep and interesting. Story and the characters are amazing. Surprisingly one of the best games I've played last couple of years.

Jul 17, 2020Fun game that hooked me early. Didn't realize how long of a game it was (30 hours-ish). Great music, lots of side quests, very enjoyable for the price!

Apr 14, 2021A very competently made game which gives the feeling of the developers completely fulfilling their vision. I found the combat to be a little too fast-paced, but also enjoyable. There are some minor performance issues at unexpected times (navigating the menu even), but they don't often impact the game play so weren't really an issue.

Jan 8, 2021I don‘t know why this game is rated that good. It’s tedious and boring. The combat is clunky, the story uninspired and dull.

Jun 21, 2022This game is utterly terrible. The map and navigation system are awful and you rarely know where to go and cannot find any help to figure it out. The music is likewise terrible (who developed this game??) and how any of this mess made it past QA, I have no idea. Cash grab?

Dec 29, 2020The devs are bad and mean. The game was released on Newgrounds, but only as a demo! The game is better suited as a flash game from what I experienced from the Newgrounds demo (I don't own it), and it should have been full game on Newgrounds. Play the demo, and see if you like it. >:-(

Apr 25, 2021no words can describe how pleasant an experience it was playing this game. The systems, story, characters, visuals... everything is just perfect ( to me )

Nov 30, 2020As a whole, CrossCode is a great game with a memorable story and great combat. It makes a great transition from the PC to the Switch aside from a few minor technicalities, and now players can enjoy this game on the go. The gameplay is a joy, taking the Zelda and Secret of Mana styles of gameplay and evolving it into something much better. However, the bombardment of puzzles throughout the game will turn off those who prefer more ‘action’ in their RPG formula. Nonetheless, this game provides a unique experience with plenty of the MMO-esque options and an incredible sense of world-building that will leave players with plenty to do and explore.

Nintendo Force MagazineOct 26, 2020Honestly, CrossCode was not at the top of my most wanted list leading up to its launch in the eShop . . . but it probably should have been! [Issue #48 – September/October 2020, p. 23]

Oct 26, 2020I very much enjoyed my trip to the CrossWorlds, much more than I ever did my trips to the World of Warcraft. The game is jam-packed with content, giving you upwards of 50 to 60 hours of enjoyment in your first playthrough. There are secrets galore to find, items to trade, and combat skills to master. However, the game never quite drew me in as much as I hoped when I first started playing, primarily due to the story issues. In the end, CrossCode is a slightly flawed action RPG masterpiece and an absolute stunning achievement for indie games. I can’t wait to see where the developers take the game in the next “patch.”
