    When i first started the game and played the first two chapters, it was 10/10 for me. Intriguing story, fascinating characters, gorgeous world design and a fun gameplay experience.

    Then the game started to show its problems, and one of these problems eventually ruined the overall experience for me. This game has one of the worst pacing issues I've ever played.     This game has one of the worst pacing issues I've ever played. Once you completed the first dungeon, it just drags and drags, everything becomes such a chore to finish. For example:
    - there is a main quest later on where you have to take down a pillar-shaped enemy. Every time you destroy one pillar, it just generates one or two more, and every time you destroy all the pillars, it escapes to another map and you have to repeat the same thing again. And you have to go through multiple maps to finally beat it.
    - the "pvp" missions, why do I have to win all 5/5 duels? normall if I win 3/5 i am already a winner. especially one of the pvp duels against one specific character, even after you won 5/5, that character just keeps going and asks for yet ANOTHER duel.
    - the second the fourth dungeons, there are just so many puzzles and so many rooms. I love puzzles and I like most of the puzzles, the problem is not about solving the puzzle, it's about the awkward platforming and aiming mechanic. 99% of the time, I absolutely know what I have to do, but it takes me forever to aim it at the EXACT correct angel, or have to run all the way back to the start point of a puzzle because I misjudged the fake 3D platform (the one you think you can jump onto but it turns out to be higher)

    Even the characters in the game are making fun of how boring and tedious the game can be, at least the devs are self-aware.
    I really had to take several hiatuses from CrossCode to continue. At one point, I basically stopped caring for the story because all the dragging missions were so annoying to go through and they totally interrupted the progression of the story.

    The bottom line:
    - if you just want a puzzle game, this game is not for you.
    - if you just want an action RPG, this game might be for you.
    - if you just want a decent story, this game might not be for you.
    - if you hate puzzles, this game is definitely not for you.    … Expand

    Crosscode is a very fun Action RPG game with interesting characters, satisfying combat and good puzzles and environment. I recommend it.

    Crosscode is pixel art RPG that gets a lot of things right with some major caveats.
    Firstly, I loved the story. The characters and twists made is so compelling. With the story being something very personal and a life experience instead of 'saving the world' cliché, I really wanted to know more. And Emilie is simply the best character
    The pixel art and animations is amazing also. I think    Crosscode is pixel art RPG that gets a lot of things right with some major caveats.

    The pixel art and animations is amazing also. I think its more of a 32bit style having such detail and expressions.
    I appreciate that they removed the major grindy issues of this game as some "MMORPG's" tend to have
    The combat is engaging. There is a some button mashing enemies but you have to plan and find weak points in attacks.
    However there was some major downfalls on this game for me:
    - The dudgeons. They should be a high point but they were just so long. With some puzzles requiring perfect timing and with so many rooms, it just broke me as it because such a chore.
    - The balancing between zones. For instance, in the first zone you fight enemies at level 11 and could be level 12 by the time to move on. But find the enemies in the next zone to be level 16, why the 5 level gap between zones?
    - I know you can adjust the difficulty in the game at any moment, as I found the game very difficult but the precision needed to shoot key areas to progress is too tight and became very frustrating.
    - Being a top-down game and lack of depth perception I wonder if the platforming had to be such a regular occurrence due to the amount of falls
    - Unlike MMO's the opportunity to find great loot is so sparse and you will end up buying gear from vendors. Anyone that play MMO's know that is not what you want to do.
    It took me 45 hours to get though but feel it could of been a 30 hour experience and suited me better. It's a great game and expected something different then what I got. Recommended for the gaming enthusiasts out there that love huge dudgeons and a challenge.    … Expand

    I don‘t know why this game is rated that good. It’s tedious and boring. The combat is clunky, the story uninspired and dull.

    After 50 hours I completed the game, and I need to lower the first grade I gave. I think the first part of the game is really good, but after that the entertaining and quality declined. I actually came close to stopping the game a few times along the way. Most of the sidequests get too monotonous and boring. The dungeons are confusing and not exciting, and I got the feeling, that I justAfter 50 hours I completed the game, and I need to lower the first grade I gave. And as other peoples have mentioned, there are a really annoying problem with the platforms. You are standing on a platform and think, you can jump to another platform, but after you jump, you suddenly finds out, that it is far too high to reach. After my opinion they should have removed a lot of the sidequests and shortened the game and done something about the dungeons. I got the feeling that the producers lost track of the game.
    But I want to say that the game have a good story and being easy to control. But it's a cheap game, and if you really love a RPG-game, then it might be worth a try. But I can say for sure, that I won't be playing the game again.    … Expand

    As a whole, CrossCode is a great game with a memorable story and great combat. It makes a great transition from the PC to the Switch aside from a few minor technicalities, and now players can enjoy this game on the go. The gameplay is a joy, taking the Zelda and Secret of Mana styles of gameplay and evolving it into something much better. However, the bombardment of puzzles throughout the game will turn off those who prefer more ‘action’ in their RPG formula. Nonetheless, this game provides a unique experience with plenty of the MMO-esque options and an incredible sense of world-building that will leave players with plenty to do and explore.

    I very much enjoyed my trip to the CrossWorlds, much more than I ever did my trips to the World of Warcraft. The game is jam-packed with content, giving you upwards of 50 to 60 hours of enjoyment in your first playthrough. There are secrets galore to find, items to trade, and combat skills to master. However, the game never quite drew me in as much as I hoped when I first started playing, primarily due to the story issues. In the end, CrossCode is a slightly flawed action RPG masterpiece and an absolute stunning achievement for indie games. I can’t wait to see where the developers take the game in the next “patch.”
