Looks great, battle system is pretty fun, controls are a bit strange, and gameplay is sightly repetitive. Overall a good remake but not the best game overall.

Nice remaster for an already good FF game: solid combat system, good story, beautiful music, cut scenes, voice acting and nice graphics (apart the hair with no filters ;) ).

The main issues in my view are linked to the original portable design: missions are designed to be quick linear stages and with time they become boring for the current standards (go through a corridor, defeat the same enemies and gain a prize), Environments are not too various and after finishing the games there are almost no rewards (gallery, cut scenes / tunes player, NG+ with additional quests...). Additionally, on the Switch this is a prequel that does not have a sequel as FFVII Remake is not available (unless you want to play the original HD version) and as the story is designed it leaves quite much of bittersweet feeling at the end...

Really enjoyed this game! It was really awesome to play this game after playing the FF7 Remake to get more of a back story of the FF7 lore. The combat was fun, face pace and engaging! The story overall was good, but at some points it didn’t feel natural? I know that’s a weird critic but I don’t know how else to explain it. Almost felt forced at time. Definitely a fun ARPG everyone should check out! Expand

Looking at the entire game, Crisis Core is an extremely important title for the Final Fantasy series, but a lot of its luster was lost in time or simply better realized in games that came after it. The main crucifix of Reunion is making a great remaster on top of a flawed gem of a title. For fans of the original, Reunion is the perfect remaster, while other Final Fantasy and action fans would probably be better with a full remake to realize the premise potential.

While Crisis Core‘s shorter length is surprising, given the depth of the story it tells, the hooks it digs in are well worth unearthing. The trio tale of Angeal, Sephiroth, and Genesis is a relatively hidden side chapter of the FF7 Compilation, but it provides a deep, emotional core that will likely resonate in Rebirth and beyond.

We found in Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion a title that surpasses what we can consider a remaster, offering a deluxe visual revamp with engaging chapter-based gameplay that is ideal for the Nintendo Switch. Its structure may be a little repetitive at times, but it's still a very enjoyable ride for the fans.
