    No online split screen multiplayer!!
Only two modes race or battle. Not even a tournament or cup mode.
    Very disappointing

Crash Team Racing is an okay kart racer with greed killing its ultimate fun factor.
Im a huge fan of kart racers, im a huge fan of crashbandicoot, so I want into this game wanting to love it..
Ive heard so many good things about the original, so much so that I bought thep laystation classic version to one day play it, only for months later get smacked with the announcement that rthey are remaking the original much like the crash collection…
And quite frankly this should’ve been included in that collection, because by itself its not special enough in present day 2019 to justify a standalone release.
The tracks are boring, the racing is slow, the pick ups are lame, the adventure mode takes a measly 3 hours to complete, and everything is hidden behind a pay wall…
Kart racers I get are meant to play over and over, do chllenges, unlock characters and skins, but greed got in the way of nitro fueled…
the tiniest unlockable like a wheel or color scheme takes a ridiculous amount of coin to unlock for how little you earn from completing races… killing the potential hook of racing over and over, doing all of the challenges to get that quick rewarding feeling of progress,Oddly enough this is my biggest gripe with this game..
I may not have the rose tinted glasses everyone else has, but I can be forgiving when it comes to this game feeling dated… it’s a remake of a 20 year old game… its okay that the control scheme feels unintuitive, its okay that the tracks aren’t spectacular.. because back in the day these tracks were full of life, the control scheme was perfect… its sad to me that the modern day aspects actually take away from the potential greatness of this game.
I want to earn my characters and gear,
I don’t want to pay for them, and I don’t want to grind for them.
But that’s the reality of Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled.
Youre rewarded at a slow pace playing a dated kart racer to try and force money from your wallets.
I don’t have the nostalgia whispering in my ear telling me the sweet lies of this is the greatest kart racer of all time.
The racing, the tracks, none of it could keep my attention barely long enough to get through the 3 hour campaign let alone grind for hours to get a new paint job.
There is some positive here though, this is a beautiful remake of a playstation one game, the tracks look beautiful…
Im so happy that the campaign manages to keep them fresh throughout, rarely repeating aside from boss battles as you prove yourself to be the fastest racer in the world…
I do wish however you chould change the difficutly settings mid adventure instead of having to start a new one completely…
Or better yet, have the difficulty of the races increase as the campaign goes on, rather than set every race as either easy medium or hard and deal with that throughout the entire 3 hours.
This keeps the campaign feeling stale and flat, instead of exciting and challenging.
I would love to see crash come back with a crash 4, and this team tackle an activision kart racer with the knowledge obtioned by going back and playing with these classics…
And while doing this.. seeing the flaws, seeing where they can improve instead of pretending they are perfect like everyone else does
I give Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled
    a 6/10

As for others stay away from it your better of picking up mario kart then ripping your hair out with this game.i can still comfortably say mario kart is still the best kart racing game (its more a chill type of racing game).Whereas this game is more for extra hardcore gamers willing to spend days, weeks heck even months on just getting good at it .While mario you can learn with a couple of hours while having fun.So in the end i gave it a 6, because its a descent game and did get my moneys worth,.Its just not a great game (at least for me) like some people are touting. It is an overhyped and an overrated game. On one hand, it's a modern version of a classic kart racer with an array of improvements, but on the other, not only some of the original's issues were left intact, but some new problems were added. Adding microtransactions some time after release was a devious move by Activision, but the game was far from perfect anyway.

The original Crash Team Racing is one of my favourite games of all time. Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled builds upon it through the inclusion of Nitro Kart tracks and characters, customisation and the Grand Prix events which adds life to the game. At face value, this would make this game better than the original, but there are shortcomings.

At face value, this would make this game better than the original, but there are shortcomings.

    1) To win against hard mode AI or people in online matchmaking, you need to master maintaining your blue fire and timings to enter shortcuts. While this benefits skilled players, it limits the capacity for a comeback.
    2) Much of the customisation, from the characters, skins, decals, karts and stickers, can be bought in the Pit Stop for inflated Wumpa coins if you don't play online. Naturally, you need Nintendo Switch Online to get a more reasonable rate of coins.
    3) You can't earn Wumpa coins unless your Switch is connected to the Internet. Basically, you can't play on the go and work towards certain items, unless you hotspot your mobile data.
    4) There will be microtransactions soon, which is why getting enough coins is very much a grind as they want to entice you to purchase them. The only plus side is that it's purely cosmetic and it doesn't affect the actual gameplay.
    5) The Grand Prix challenges are occasionally buggy, and it is slightly annoying when it resets certain event customisations to the default ones.

Overall, Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled looks great and plays well when it doesn't randomly crash, and Activision and Beenox have done well to reduce the loading times significantly. The drifting mechanism is satisfying and seeing Tiny Tiger in all his glory makes for a nostalgic trip. However, the game is geared around microtransactions and skewed towards skilled veterans. While Nitro-Fueled is priced lower than an AAA title, this should not mean that it should act like a free-to-play game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I gotta say, i was impressed hearing the announcement for this remake. i have played the ps1 version for years and i loved the game play of the new version as soon as it came out. The problem was that 100% of the people that have been practicing on this game for years were disappointed throughout the time since no competitive mode was available (like super smash bros ultimate). 95% of the times i win the race overlapping other players and all because of the items. I don't think Beenox will implement this mode so i just pop this game once in a while. Expand

No tutorial that explains any of the game's quite unique and unituitive core mechanics, and the game is very challenging right from the get-go. There's no sense of easing the player into the game and teaching you, you just get thrown into the deep end and then it's sink or swim. Music is pretty repetitive and annoying. Loading times are awful.

I think I've got a love hate relationship with this game, and I'm not sure if me comparing it to Mario Kart is a good idea. As a remake it's incredible, when comparing between the original and the remake it's crazy to see how good it looks now. Minus the fact that it looks completely blurry on a Nintendo Switch but overall you can understand that it's a great remake.

I first decided to jump into adventure mode, this seemed like a great starting point where I could learn the ropes. There were three difficulties, easy, medium and hard. As I have played other kart racers in the past, I decided to jump into medium difficulty, this was a huge mistake. Beating adventure mode in medium was one of the most frustrating experiences, taking me hours to beat each race thanks to the steroid induced A.I. The A.I were also extremely predictable following the same paths each time, you could place traps in the same spot and they would just keep driving into them. The tracks were often really annoying and slow which would make the A.I even more painful to put up with. It's my fault really, I should have restarted on easy, but I was halfway through and couldn't be bothered to restart to change the difficulty. The boss fights were just cruel and annoying as well. Each boss was pretty much the same but they would all have a different trap shooting out their back. What made them insane was the fact that they were programmed to go insanely fast, faster than the player can actually go, if you overtook them they would instantly come flying past you. The puzzle levels I had no interest in playing due to them being extremely tedious and time consuming, I just couldn't be bothered to go back and get all the collectibles.

So would I recommend playing this? Kind of. If you want a more frustratingly hard kart racer, yes. Otherwise, just play more Mario Kart where the fun is at, at least there are people playing online there.

Recomiendo el juego, porque es una maravilla, pero mucho cuidado con el aspecto del turbo, porque si buscas una experiencia tranquila y amena, puede convertirse en algo frustrante. Expand

playing digital copy on OLED Switch and load times are horrible. The game itself is fun, but that tends to be just half the "gameplay". each race takes forever to load. if you accidentally start one (by driving in to a "portal"), you are in for a good few minutes of waiting....

Very good game, runs very fluid, the graphics are good. Very difficult on some tracks, which will make you replay many times and becomes frustrating. I didn't allow myself to enjoy it in its entirety. And it has micro-transactions unfortunately.

Nitro-Fueled is an excellent racing game and an excellent remake of a classic. It’s gameplay rewards player’s skill and it’s great success is to always make the player come back for more while gradually improving their performance.

A great remake of a very specific game for a very specific audience. Crash Team Racing is a solid alternative to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but it’s not for everybody - and you should know beforehand what you’re getting into.
