And whilst you die a lot from your own mistakes and bad timing, the worst part is that you very often die for something that was simply not your fault, such as the fixed camera making precise jumps close to impossible or you having killed an enemy or broke a crate that you need to advance.

I guess the level making this the most obvious is "The high road", where you already have a hard time to do precise jumps due to the camera behind your back, but it also contains sections where you need a certain enemy to advance. An enemy you can kill. And if you die often enough, the game now gives you a protective mask, which makes things worse because not only does that not help with falling down, it also makes killing these enemies you need by accident a lot more likely.

Everybody who loved the original Crash Bandicoot games and wants to go through the frustration again: it's a great port with lovely graphics and attention paid to detail.

Everybody else: hands off that game. It is frustrating, very repetitive in level design, graphics and music and you simply notice that it was from the very early time of 3d jump and runs. You can get better ones for the Swich easily.

If all you can say is "oh it's portable" that's not actually a case for the game itself. The controls are EVEN worse than the PS4 version, Crash is the touchiest character I've used in my life via these remakes. The old games were better controlled, but at least the PS4 game looked outstanding, this; THIS looks like dog poop. The Switch version is a total waste of time and money.

Delayed controls , frustrating and broken gameplay with crash 1 and 2 , do yourself a favor and play the original PlayStation 1 versions

Disappointing that the controls weren't worked on, as it can be unresponsive to input which results in dying. The frustration of Crash needs to come from things which are your own fault, not undetected input as an irrelevant animation finishes, flames which have visually finished toasting you or bad hitboxes. A true shame that this wasn't polished more, opening a new door for the bandicoot IP.

Underneath a lazy port that has bad collision detection (an issue present in the ps4 release) are three great games, that frankly should look better than it does. This collection solves the worst problem present in the originals; their brevity. Only buy if this is your only system that runs it.

In the beginning it was fine and then it got worse but in the middle went back to be good, but the last level (stormy ascent) was the worst level design i've ever seen in the games history.

Port is good but without any nostalgia cloudy the gameplay, the Crash games are awful. Running forward platforming is garbage. You will fall in a pit 5 times on Game 1 Board 1 get a game over and never touch it again.

The controls are just horrible. The hotboxes of first game are straight wrong. I'm really sad this bad quality Bandicoot rip-off got released and even got so many ads people really thought it is a decent "game"

I forgot how many times I died, and how many times I used profanities and wanted to break the console. I forced myself to finish it. After finishing the whole campaign I don’t feel satisfied at all. I feel angry and dreadfully tired. Pleas don’t play this junk! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The 'supposedly enhanced' and aptly named N SANE Trilogy has a far bigger impact on visual quality rather than the actual controls and game play compatibility. Completely built from the ground up with the Olds specs comes a remained modern day spin on the old classics. But does it hold up? Sort of.

My main gripe with remasters is the way changes are made to 'enhance' an already established play style that isn't broken to begin with. FOR EXAMPLE, Crash controlled differently across all three games for a reason. As the games went on his mobility improved and granted him access to powerups that allowed the marsupi to not rely so much on just solely jumping. This is why his base jump is pretty weak in Warped. However, the devs wanted to make the controls of the remaster feel consistent and unified. So they based all control off of the third games jumping. THIS MAKES THE OTHER GAMES FEEL INCREDIBLY OFF. And that's not the only problem. With current Gen tech, the hit boxes on Crash's feet are pill shaped and this means he will slip off of platforms way easier. Along with a bunch of other wonky changes to his controls, frankly this makes the game such a chore for new and old fans alike. In fact, the time trials, which were added to the first and second game as well, are horrendous. Even the gimmick levels have been tampered with on vehicle stages. It's atrocious. The game may look good but it plays like Crash is carrying around a lot more weight and the slightest fault will send you plummeting to your demise. The only thing the old games needed fixing was the PAL version. But this game just needs to be forgotten entirely. It's sickening.

    I... don't like this game.

The fixed camera makes the game brutally difficult, because you hardly see where you stand and where you'll land. The level design of some levels is absolute garbage. Imagine a boost pad that sends you into enemies off-camera you can't see with no time to react. This is in one of the levels and I died to it many times. The life system is completely

Imagine a boost pad that sends you into enemies off-camera you can't see with no time to react. This is in one of the levels and I died to it many times. The life system is completely unnecessary, because you are likely to lose all accumulated lives to bosses or badly designed levels. The game tries to be difficult and it is, but not because of the platforming challenges. It is because you can't properly look around yourself due to the locked-in-place camera and also bad level design.

There is one level in the first game, where there is a section with platforms appearing and then falling and platforms visible in the distance, with wumpa fruit trail into the void. So I thought I should follow the fruit, boom, death. WHAT I WAS SUPPOSED TO DO was to jump onto a completely arbitrary spot, on a platform that is about to collapse and fall, and from there, jump onto an off-screen platform. This game's design is literally so cheap and poor I can't believe someone considers it as some amazing platformer.

Not even mentioning the hitboxes and killer Nitro crates that jump from time to time, ending up killing you if the RNG feels like it. And also the incredibly sensitive controls... hmph. Awful game.

Unjustified difficulty and bad control, unfortunately, for a game that was one of the best childhood memories, so that the developers made it a very bad game that no one from this generation would remember.

At the fair price of $40, the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy offers three fun platforming classics that have been re-created from the ground up, and only minor adjustments have been made for the Switch. The first title suffer from its unification strategy, so it's a more frustrating experience, but Cortex Strikes Back and Warped play really well. The visual style and graphical performance on the Switch are fantastic thanks to the minor adjustments, making this a well-deserved port for the handheld's library.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy lands on the Nintendo Switch with a compilation of the first three games of the Crash Bandicoot series and what a welcome addition it is to the console's catalogue. Thanks to its charms, to its immense content and to a reworked visual outlook, this trilogy will provide many hours of fun for those feeling nostalgic for these games and to those curious to discover them.
