Despite a very simple level-design, Child of Light piles up its amazing univers, great gameplay ideas an great music, thus being a unmissable game even on Switch, four years after its original release.

Sometimes there are video games that are small pieces of art. Child of Light: Ultimate Edition is a clear example of this, being a great work with a superb audiovisual section, an innovative narrative and a perfect gameplay for RPG fans.

On Switch, Child of Light keeps on being a fantastic, poetic and powerful playable fairy-tale for the whole family, with strong arts, a beautiful story, some easy to understand mechanics and a lovely soundtrack.

Child of Light is as great a game today as it was four years ago, a delicate and stylish gem which shows that even if you produce AAA title with dancers and assassins you still manage to create something ethereal and gentle.

All in all, Child of Light can be simple and easy, and played with low stress, an experience breezy. The aesthetic is one up there with the best, and if you avoid enemy encounters bosses can be quite a test. Without a doubt here’s a title that’s unique but subtle, yet demands your attention and a look; I’ll hear no rebuttal. Well-suited to those who want a creative RPG that both sticks to and deviates from this genre’s normalcy. If you’re never played it, well now’s the time. Go on and enjoy Child of Light in its Nintendo Switch prime.

Child of Light is one of those games able to enter the collective memory on tiptoe, silently, but without time that can in any way sweep away the track.

Child of Light Ultimate Edition is the last occasion to play one of the most particular, innovative and interesting Ubisoft title. Arts and Ost will get your heart warm.

A gorgeous looking game filled with fairy tale narrative and easy gameplay elements... maybe a little too easy.

The somber tone that permeates the adventure still resonates deeply, using its delicate visuals and wistful music to capture a feeling of melancholy that still feels incredibly rare. The passage of time hasn’t undermined the sadness that makes this game so welcoming because there is still nothing quite like Child of Light. The transition to the Switch hasn’t hurt the experience in the slightest. Whether docked or in handheld mode, the beautiful artistic design shines through and the controls are smooth regardless of which controller you use.

On the whole, Child of Light is an easy recommendation for those who didn’t catch it the first time round. The ‘light’ in the title sums things up nicely – you get game mechanics usually reserved for massive RPG epics in a concise package that’s as beautifully refreshing as when it was first released. It’s a shame to see framerate hitches – however occasional they may be – but they’re not enough to cast a shadow on this delightful adventure.

Child of Light is a well-crafted action RPG that boasts some marvelous visuals and an outstanding soundtrack and matches them with an interesting, albeit not very varied combat system. The game may be over four years old by now but it certainly remains an RPG that can be easily recommended, even if its plot is not as involving as it should.

I played Child of Light on the PC when it first came out five years ago, and it's Switch port is nothing short of fantastic. A great storyI played Child of Light on the PC when it first came out five years ago, and it's Switch port is nothing short of fantastic. A great story that is quite a simple hero's journey, one of the most beautiful art styles I have ever seen in a game, a stunning soundtrack, and an engaging combat system keeps me coming back to Child of Light. It's about a 10-15 hour game and easily 20-25 if you decide to play New Game+. This is a great deal for the price! Full Review »

I enjoyed the world and character design. the game itself is not very long or difficult but it's the right amount to relax and play.
