I don’t want to leave the impression that I dislike Cassette Beasts, though, because I don’t – not in the least. Cassette Beasts may borrow pretty heavily from Pokémon, but there are enough fun twists on the basic ideas that it manages to carve out an identity that’s all its own.

We still have a lot of adventuring left to do in New Wirral, and we’re in no way upset about it. More monsters to record and remaster, a few more mysteries to uncover, characters to grow fond of, and about 13,970 more fusions to see. Some (hopefully pre-launch-only) performance issues, wonky balance, and overly complex battle mechanics did little to affect how much we enjoyed Cassette Beasts. In fact, it’s one of the better monster-battling games not starring a little electric rodent that you can enjoy on your Nintendo Switch.

Cassette Beasts is an example of what a more mature and difficult Pokémon could be. The new additions to combat, exploration, and quest design all make the world thrilling to explore, and the sprite/pixel combination shows that there's still plenty of potential for monster-catching in this art style.

Cassette Beasts puts a cool spin on the proven Pokemon formula by adding strategic combat, lovely throwback visuals, and a genuine sense of adventure.

Cassette Beasts on Switch isn’t perfect right now, but it is a superb monster collecting game that does many things better than the genre kings. It excels with its style, music, and gameplay, and is a game I hope gets a physical release soon. I’m looking forward to trying the DLC when it does launch on Switch.

If you want to experience an open world in which you can dodge attacks and fly around the city as if you were in a Zelda game while having a battle mechanic and writing style akin to Final Fantasy, alongside a monster system with unique monster types such as plastic and glass, where each type can react to one another based on chemistry, then this game is for you.

Every RPG fan or player newer to the genre will enjoy this game and sink hours into the gameplay, especially with the lore surrounding it.

AI really like the game and the idea, but I can't play it with the constant crashes, freezes and bugs. It makes the platforming impossible. A fix is absolutely in order. Like this, the game is unplayable. Had my screen turn into a colorbugging mess and it made me lose progress, since I had to restart it. Sad :( Expand

Apenas uma cópia mal feita do pokemon, combate ultrapassado e soundtrack péssima.
